Looking Ahead: Winnipeg Vs Calgary

Ha! Friday's is always a thirsty lunchhour where I work... so do I 'pregame' before having to work another 4 hrs, or call it now and take the afternoon off?! First world problems. -

I like to think those of us in St.James at the time of the old stadium just had it lucky all those years. What kind of fan am I if a jaunt across my own city is too far. That's probably not reality tho, and I suspect their ticket numbers have somewhat skewed to different ends of the city since the move to UofM. One things for sure, 25k, 28k, 30+ - whatever, it's going to be looooouuud in there tonight!! I never doubt the Bomber faithful no matter how full the joint is. I'll be mooing at Bovine all night long, can't wait. #ForTheW -
Ok.. well there's no Random Video thread, so apologies if y'all are uninterested. Just thought this was awesome! https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=cZnBNuqqz5g

Petan has the trade value of bruised banana. I just like The Clash.

Does this apply to Canada too?
-
I've never waited for it to be legal. That's silly. Should Petan stay, or should he go now?

Looking Ahead: Winnipeg Vs Calgary

More profit in the short term, but doesn't mean they'd be healthier long term. I fight this notion seemingly daily that the New Winnipeg Arena is not perfect at it's current size. 17,500 seat building would simply have a few thousand more upper deck / cheap seats and eliminate most of the pent up demand for tickets. Same applies here, IMO. Agreed, there's still tons of this out there. I can't for the life of me understand why the "traffic is too bad crowd" drives to begin with. Drive to any of the park & ride locations all over the city, get the $5 ride to the game. Get a ride back to P&R afterwards. No fighting traffic leaving stadium, no fighting traffic at your P&R location - and chances are it'll be closer to home. Convenient & well run. -

Well, SSK then EDM, then us. CGY is often over 30K average too. Some were questioning their attendance of late in another thread. Numbers do seem to be down in the last couple of years, but they've still hit 30K avg more often than not the last 10 years. -

Very wrong? There just aren't 33,500 hardcore football / Bomber fans, that's all. I'm pulling for a sell-out too, but wouldn't be shocked if we fell short. Forget which stadium we play in, 30K is a great number to hit. We just need to do it more often, not just the opener and Banjo Bowl. -

In that Dressler hype video, notice the huge swath of Rider fans leaving the stadium before Medlock's even lining up for the winner. #CanadasTeam #BestFans -
That's fair. If it's only about who'll produce more, I'd take Vanek with more points than Dano in 17/18. The more I read about him, the more I like TBH. Pretty solid production, only made $2.6M last season. Very good on PP, too. I guess in that scenario, we'd just dump Dano for nothing then? He's scooped if you send him down, and there's only room for him AND Vanek if Connor & Roslovic are in the A all year. I'd still rather a FW who's known more for D zone work & who can win some faceoffs over a FW who's primarily a goal scorer.

Jussi seems like a good fit. I'm all for adding more Finns even if only to keep telling Laine he's not leaving Wpg...ever. Certainly would be a juicier signing than Olli.

My depth chart, as of today: *reserve the right to edit 19474 times before season starts Ehlers - Scheifele - Wheeler Connor - Little - Laine Perreault - Petan - Dano Mattiahs - Lowry - Armia Morrissey - Trouba Kulikov - Buff Enstrom - Myers Mason Helle Extras: Copp, Chairot + 1 more for the 23 man roster.

Yeah, I'd pass on Vanek too. This team has had issues with consistent "give a F" effort in the past, I don't think a part time player / floater is a good fit. Plus, I don't see much room on the wings in our top 9. I may be in the minority, but I don't know another forward is a must anyway. More depth at comfortable AAV/term, yeah I'd be down. Not essential tho, IMO. Of course, I'm pretty high on Connor & Roalovic too. I see one or both being a key cog with the Jets all season.

He's a Rider fan, chances are he first heard of the Riders around 2007 or so. "Telethon?! To save the team?! Canada's team?!?! That can't be us." -
Sounds like we're stilling looking for FW help. Anyone got a fresh list of FA's available?
-
No, no for sure, disagreements are welcome. And I sincerely hope Canada doesn't disintegrate into a "Left vs Right" shitshow that the US has become. People shouldn't be defined by a party they vote for. Similarily, I may agree with _____ that party ____ has proposed, doesn't mean I need to be boxed in and be made to follow all other policies. My reply was just asking for clarification on what you meant, that's all.

Around the League - Regular Season Discussion (Redux)
Jimmy Pop replied to BigBlue's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Not sure, but word is he's switching to #3 after this weekend. -
I say this without having watched this weekend's game in full yet, was at the lake, so "settled" for Mr.Irving. The facts are, the Riders are 0-2. Sure, they've been close to winning. Sure, they're looking a bit better than many of us thought. To that I say a big soooooooo what. They are 0-2. Not bashing your post, but this is akin to what lots of us did with so many Bomber teams of yesteryear. Find excuses for our lack of winning. The Riders look destined to be the best 4-14 team in league history to me. Let 'em have it, and hope more excuses pile up. I'll take our Bombers and an "average" 10-13 win team anyday. I don't pretend to be an expert on their roster, but they just (still) seem to be missing so much of the fundamentals.... consistent QB play, depth on o-line and national starters etc and don't have enough positions of strength to overcome them. <<< That, in year 3 of Jones and co., would not be cool with this fan.

^ I like that one. Give me Manny as well.

Is a Mike Smith / Lack combo really better than Elliot / Johnson? Jagr to Wpg would obvs never happen, but how sweet would that be!
