  1. I'm still nervous until he signs...
  2. Here's hoping Laine's feeling better tomorrow. No Laine, and Jimmy may be watching something else on tv. ....wake me up around the expansion draft, mmmmkay?
  3. That might be one of the dumbest Jets-related tweets this season. Completely asinine. What looking somewhat competent for a couple games, now he's our guy?!? Muddied the waters?! Yeaaaaaah right. Buh bye Pavelec, buh bye Hutch, resign Helle because you need 2 goalies anyway and bring in a FA or trade acquisition. To suggest otherwise is laughable.
  4. I don't think it was intentional, but thanks CFL for the hilarious pic for this site to caption.
  5. Canadian team signs North Dakota standout!! Not the Jets
  6. 12K vs 8.5K, who cares. It's the AHL. Bottom line is SD is def near the top of AHL attendance. The team did a lot of marketing and promoting themselves around the time the Chargers left town. Smart. Really, if there's a market that can relate - it's Winnipeg.
  7. Why stop there. I'm working on a theory that Maurice and Noel are the same person.
  8. He played more games last season than this season if you include the international stuff. If you don't it's 64 pro games last yr vs. 66 this year.
  9. My goal will be to stay awake into the 2nd period. My expectation is to be asleep following the pregame show on 1290.
  10. Bombers have been very accommodating for my group relocating. First season I was with my group of 4 buddies, but one row directly behind & they were all in front of me. Year 2 I was able to move to the same row. Year 3 we all moved down 2 whole rows to be a wee bit closer. Now home is 209, 45 yd line a few rows up. Perfect.
  11. And I'd say the fact they're so anti-going this year indicates the benefits in previous years weren't substantial enough, at least not from their point of view. - This year proved a condensed schedule doesn't work. It would never happen, because $$$, but ideally in an Olympic year, just play say 70 regular season games. Don't condense the schedule, no bye weeks needed. - Can't see this happening either, but what about moving ice hockey to the summer games with field hockey. Don't know the IOC would want to accommodate the NHL like that, but that would avoid the schedule conflict all together. Other benefit here would be the injury factor. Guys get hurt at the Olys in July - still time to recover before season stats. Yeah, that would be rough on players not having an offseason, but it's only the best of the best that are affected anyways, I think they could handle it. - Above point highlights just how unique the situation is to the NHL. NFL & MLB players don't have the olympics. NBA players do, but not during their season.
  12. I'm impressed everyone's memory is that sharp. Geez the Jets have made me drink so much this season it's hard to remember summer. Bunch of functioning alcoholics. I'm taking notes.
  13. I suspect anyone with more in depth knowledge of the league than us would not call a league-wide season shutdown and potential injury to marquee players little to no cost. But we can agree to disagree there. I don't have sources directly in front of me, so I'll eat crow if necessary - but Olympic rights holders severely limit (or restrict completely?) content the NHL can produce. Crosby's "golden goal" - a huge highlight for any Canadian hockey fan - try finding that video on youtube. Not very easy! The bolded I completely agree with - but that's what the problem is! Players, fans, anyone on the side of going to the games - that's all that can be provided to support going! That it's entertaining is good enough for you & me, but I'm not going to fault the league (read: owners) for thinking that's not enough.
  14. Too busy donating money to organization's Trump's taken away funding from. So unpatriotic.
  15. How do they benefit from the Olympics? Tangible things, I mean. Is there revenue coming their way? Increased viewership for the NHL? Marketing opportunities for the players? Not trying to be combative, but these are legit questions. I won't defend the "World Cup" or whatever that was a few months back, because that was a joke, but tough to compare - one event was before the season, one smack dab in the middle. I'm not really sure why people have such a hard time grasping the league's / owners position on this. Like is it just about the Olympics being the Olympics, NHLers = best players in the world, therefore NHL must be at Olympics? That just seems like such a simplistic view.....which is fine. I agree to an extent. But I realize the NHL is business. How does going help business?
  16. I don't even think tanking exists this year. Those no logical reason for it with no 'once a generation' type talents out there plus you have Vegas taking one of those top picks already. What we are seeing is just a whole pile of teams with nothing to play for, other than taking a look at younger players who may otherwise not make the lineup if everything was on the line. And I'm not going to get worked up about the players or coaching staff now. I was upset with effort, execution and commitment to fundamentals 2 months ago when the game's still mattered.
  17. There was nothing desperate what so ever about yesterday's game. 2 teams desperate for the golf course, maybe.
  18. Who makes the decision that all countries need to send Jr age players though? Could this even be a decision? I would think Russia and maybe even Sweden & Finland would prefer sending pro's from their own leagues if the NHL is out.
  19. 9-8 Jets. Laine gets 2 hat tricks.
  20. ALso, reason I "challenged" your comment TUP is because it seemed close to the old "don't like the direction of your team, don't buy tickets" theory.
  21. Semi-related: how great will a Minn - Wpg playoff series be one of these years?! ...all the makings of a GREAT rivalry, if ya know, the Jets were ever good... I think NY has claim to the subway series - would this be the Long Weekend Shopping Series?
  22. There's also a difference between watching a game on TV vs. being there in the arena. I've too been pretty vocal about lots of things I don't like about the Jets and their management this season. But yesterday we were there for a game, not a roundtable on the state of the Jets. Wild fans came in huge numbers and I for one was VERY happy for the W and to send them home unhappy. Think of Banjo Bowls in down years for the Bombers. Cheering on the B&G wasn't a vote of confidence in mgmt, it was cheering on the Wpg team to beat the banjo pickers from SK - that's it, that's all. Same thing applies here, IMO.
  23. We'll let this slide as just in the moment frustration. I know you're not suggesting buying season tickets = unwavering support of the people in charge. Those 13K who are there every home game aren't your enemy.
  24. One thing about the Illegal Curve guys - they're at every Moose home game & likely keep a close eye on road games, too. This cannot be said for all Wpg media covering the Jets.
  25. Can't hurt to give Nogier a look at this point. At least at 20 you figure he's got room to grow and get better. Sadly I think we know what Chairot, Postma & Melchiori are at this point, and it ain't that great.
