  1. I guess it's a bit of both. I get the idea behind a "draft & develop" team. Every team drafts, every team develops. Some, like Wpg, however need to rely on it far more due to being a relatively undesirable, small market team. Get the idea, bought the tshirt. I give Chevy and his staff huge props for their drafts. No - you don't credit him for taking Laine after getting lucky with the ping pong balls. But Scheifele (7th), Trouba (9th), Ehlers (9th), Morrissey (13th) are all excellent value 1st rd picks. Lowry (3rd rd), Copp (4th), Hellebuyck (5th) are solid later round selections. Really, the draft successes have vastly outweighed the failures. Yet, here we are. 6 years & 2 coaches into Chevy's tenure and we're not a good team. Not an improving, headed in the right direction unit. No, we're headed in the reverse direction. Possession numbers are down since the playoff year. Specialty teams, just as stagnant as ever. It took barely 2 years to turn Hellebuyck from one of the better prospects in the entire league to an almost forgotten guy amongst his own fanbase. Other than strictly individual performances - what are the successes of this year? what do we do well? what (should) give us hope for the future? I'm not in favour of a tear-down / rebuild either. Truthfully though a big part of that is likely that I really do like Wheeler & Little. I like what Buff brings, when he wants to. I appreciate Enstrom's game and have tried not to be too hard on him, because he's aging. Happened to every HOF, too. I'd miss seeing these guys, the people, leave Winnipeg. The more I think about it, the only plan I think there ever was was to build a more talented organization through the draft. They've done that - now let's see if they can turn this team into a winner. And if that comes at the expense of a Wheeler or a Little or whomever - they have to look at it long & hard. Probably the ONE point we can all agree on: they can't expect to start next year with virtually the same roster and expect to be better. Can they?
  2. Nonsense. You and I have been the 2 level headed ones around here today
  3. Conditional 6th rounder to WPG
  4. Just watch it be AMAZING just to make me and (not naming names) look silly for all our angst today! hahahaha
  5. CROSS YOUR DAMN FINGERS, PEOPLE
  6. Not trying to be factious, but what is the direction?
  7. No Jets confirmation they ARE done....still a chance.... Pens have 2 trade calls pending...
  8. Disagree. This season stopped mattering weeks and weeks ago. All that's remotely salvageable now is giving the youngsters ice time. I'd rather be paying Stafford not to play here than pay him to play.
  9. ....Jets can't tell me no one is calling about Stafford
  10. The more I look at it the more I think it's a fake. I was the one who pointed that out about their site - - response I got simply can't be from their real reps. *IF* it's a real account...I'd love 1290 to get the guy on the air.
  11. For anyone with twitter, @CHLPA2015 is apparently the PA's official handle. Worth a gander if you like a laugh. If it IS their real handle, I'm thinking the league will do just fine winning their case.
  12. I don't think he survives another 12 months if the record isn't better next season. The pressure from media and fans to make a change will be insurmountable by then.
  13. If I'm reading this right, Hjalmarsson has a no move? https://www.capfriendly.com/players/niklas-hjalmarsson
  14. Jokipakka clears waivers.
  15. Much ado about nothing, it seems. Lowry's in tonight.
  16. Jets have any interest in D depth? Jokipakka is 25, good size at 6'3 215 lbs. 150+ games between Dal & Cgy.
  17. Personally, I can't see it. TNSE is way too high on him to deal. Does raise the question of why he's out. Can't see it being a healthy scratch & injury doesn't make a ton of sense given he played last game and we've had a week off. Who knows. Given what Hanzal fetched, Lowry would bring in a huge haul.
  18. Word is Adam Lowry is out tonight for unspecified reason.... Cue the trade rumours...
  19. Amen to that. Very interested to see how it plays out. Based on everything Overhardt and Trouba have said this year and his usage this season, there's no reason to not get a deal done with Chevy. ...unless of course it had more to do with getting out of Wpg, as many of us speculated.
  20. I did. Lawless just said he'd spoken with Overhardt and that he wasn't showing his hand at all. All he'd say was that Jake was having a great year. When Lawless pushed about a possible extension in the offseason all he'd say was "Oh Gary, way too early for that..." Lawless' summation was that the Trouba camp will be considering an extension, if the money's right. His reasoning seemed to be based on the fact Trouba has gotten (supposedly) all he wanted - top pair mins on the right side, with PP time. TL/DR - nothing new to report. Both sides won't be talking until the offseason.
