  1. Ahaha I used the exact same example with even noticing. Poor FLA...
  2. I figure there's a healthy amount of season accounts that are paid for by businesses, plus a bunch more that have been further split amongst a group. Both of these scenarios affect the "butts in the seats" total every game. I have a hard time seeing (major) attendance issues anytime soon. A few empty seats on a Tues night against FLA is one thing, many unsold tickets is a different concern. And we're still at the point where all unsold tickets are the daily allotment the team's required to hold until gamedays. If anything I think this just requires TNSE to be a bit more creative and proactive when it comes to selling single game tickets, as well as mini-packs - which I believe they're doing this year for the first time. If 2 people out of 730,000 are any indication - my season partner and I have no intention of giving up our seats. Even with the on ice record. And even though we're both 20-somethings who should probably be saving for the future!!
  3. Well, one injury and one holdout. To be fair to the Jets, I think most other teams would be playing well below expectations too without a top 4 D AND a top 2 centre. Little and Trouba are 2 of what, our top 6 or 7 players I figure? I can't find too much fault with any of Maurice's lineups so far this season. In a perfect world, where we're healthy and Trouba's a Jet long-term I'd say we'd be a pretty solid team - esp fancy stats-wise. In more perfect-er world, where contract status was forgotten and we had, say Dano up over Burmistrov or Lowry - even better gameday roster. Bottom line, we've got 16 games in 28 nights with 6 sets of back to backs. And oh - looky there, Dec.1 is also right around that time too....Ovvvvvverrrhaaaarddt Overrrhaarrrrdddt. Should be fascinating to see where the Jets are and how the roster looks by the time New Years rolls around.
  4. Even 5+ years later the Jets are still a relatively tough ticket to get. Yes, yes I know they are resales on stubhub. And I'm sure the tickets released on gameday aren't gobbled up quite as quickly, but by in large we still pack 99% of that place - not in tickets sold, but butts in the seats. Long term, Jets are in fine shape - at least until 2030 or something when MTSC needs an upgrade. I think Wade and the Bombers are sweating a tad when it comes to their ticket sales. You just can't create demand when you play in a 33,500 seat stadium and only have 25,000 diehard football fans willing to shell out $$$. Even the Kanata location of Ott's arena is a good comparable to the Bombers. Anyone from the west side of Wpg will tell you the U of M might as well be in a different city. I know too many west siders who haven't gotten seasons at IGF because of the commute.
  5. Location of the arena? Middling team on the ice? Blue Jays fever? Whatever it is, they aren't buying tickets in Ottawa. 17,600 and 18,200 announced for their first 2 home games this year. Apparently those are generous figures, and came with the Habs and Leafs in town, which used to be guaranteed sell-outs. Currently the CTC seats 18,700 without standing room. Them comes yesterday's game vs AZ. Announced crowd of 11,061. That's ugly. Clearly there's many other US markets not doing so well, and far worse off than Ott....but I wonder if long-term there's any worry about Ottawa's future? http://www.ottawasun.com/2016/10/18/attendance-a-growing-concern-for-senators
  6. I'm fine with it, just treat them properly. ...they must sit on the lap of those they go with. Like babies.
  7. Here we are, 3 games into the season... What was the question again; how come Stamkos didn't sign here??
  8. Better question is how long will it take for a drunk to steal it and parade it downtown.
  9. Sure.. the site doesn't delete this post.. thanks a lot Rich
  10. Connor will remind him of that tonight. First NHL goal tonight, book it.
  11. I'll admit to always leaping to the defense of our city/province when it comes to the comments about being cheap. But you know....the more events that come here, the more I realize you're right. To some degree, at least. That said, Winnipeg is most often lumped in with Cgy, Edm and to some extent Van, Mtl, Tor when it comes to big events in music or sport. We just don't have the population that those towns do. FWIW, less Calgarians per capita attended the 2011 Heritage game compared to Wpg this year.
  12. I can't wait. I plan on being down at the university all day Saturday and Sunday. For those interested, here's some more info on the NHL's Spectator Plaza, which has stuff going on both days. https://www.nhl.com/news/nhl-heritage-classic-spectator-plaza-set-for-oct-22-23/c-282656214?tid=281290524
  13. Depth on D even more depleted in the organization...
  14. They've mentioned it in a few places...League app now replaces all the invidual team's apps. Download the NHL one, select Jets as fave team and you're set.
  15. I expected Medlock to come in a hit FGs consistently. What I didn't realize was how strong a punter he is. Thought I read he's 2nd in the league in punts inside the 20... solid.
  16. As a fan, and more so as a STH I'm thrilled with the goalie decision. Maurice said at the end of the year this season was about the best players playing. We can debate about the merits of starting Lowry, but at least Tanev is still here. Morrissey and Connor, too. The future is now and man that's exciting! The thing is... if Trouba gets his act together and signs a bridge, or Chevy does Chevy magic and brings in a solid D in a trade - we may be a lot better than many thought we would be. Now. That top 4 D is the only thing holding us back at the moment. I think @Atomic's lines are pretty much bang on though I'd have Laine and Connor flipped.
  17. Gotta give credit when it's due, if it's Jets related no more knowledgeable media type than GL.
  18. @yogi just wants to chill.
  19. Gotta keep the league straight, man! Like our fine police force who busted 2 grow ops this week. Slow clap fellas, slow clap.
  20. How does one go about getting one of those tees? Post of the Month award or something?
  21. Whenever threads (ha!) like this come up I'm reminded normal people wash their jerseys. I should get on that one of these years...
  22. Twitter saying Morrissey will swap with the Chair and play with Buff. Me likey. *crosses fingers* sign of things to come?!
  23. unless of course he signs here... Lawless saying nothing confirmed at the moment, only that he's talking to Sk, Wpg, Ott and Edm.
  24. Henoc will announce his retirement within the week.
  25. And even that trade, from a pure talent perspective: Kane was the best player in that deal.
