Something about those Michigan schools! Adams was a Spartan while Trouba was of course a Wolverine.

Trouba wants out (Trouba has signed)

Didn't take long to find some John Trouba stuff... NOTE: article is from Feb 2015 http://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2015-02-12/supermodel-hockey-mom-why-big-bucks-flow-to-little-pucks -
Trouba wants out (Trouba has signed)
Jimmy Pop replied to FrostyWinnipeg's topic in Winnipeg Jets Discussion
Did someone say it here? Maybe a caller to 1290? Anyway... this fairly similar to what Hamonic wanted, is it not? He wasn't vilified. Why? Respected the team, put them first or at least on equal footing (thanks to his agent's advice, I'm sure). Regardless of Trouba's actual motivations - why not keep it private, sign your bridge on handshake condition Chevy will try and move you? At least #8 is playing this year, which HAS to be a good thing for both sides. And you'd have to figure it would be easier on Chevy without Overhardt acting a fool. Trouba's camp has went all in, and they're bluffing. Chevy has to call them on it. -

I'm real hesistant to bring up analytics in any way shape or form.... But this guy isn't the only one saying Trouba is *better than Rasmus. *edit: or at least on-par with Trouba -

I like Nik Petan, really do. But if he was packaged in a Trouba deal - or something similar - for D help, I'm all for it. I just don't see how and where this guy gets a permanent roster spot in the near future here. -

Byfuglien likely the last person in Wpg to find out about Trouba! Found out this morning hahaha oh Buff... -

You'd need to give Buff incentives to go after that deal. Rasmus is unsigned as well, no? So at least comparable in age and contract status. So what do the Sabres need? Extra 2nd or 3rd rounder and a young FW perhaps, a la Dano, Petan, Burmi. Still not enough in all likelihood. This is where's it tough to predict... Does a trade happen where Trouba's the centerpiece, and a team is giving us young D with potential + _____ + _____. Or can we add to pieces with Trouba and fleece some other poor GM? Early speculation has us wanting a 1-1 trade with a LHD coming back. Looking at the list above (great find btw, thanks for sharing) don't see many 1 for 1 options there. -

Fascinating seeing an agent go so wildly off the normal course of action (again) for a Trouba-like player... Less than 2 weeks ago Wicek of the Freep talks with Trouba at length at the WCH pre-tourney games. Discussed, in detail, was right side vs. left side. Paul thought nothing of it. Why? Well, he often misses the critical part of a story....besides the point. He thought nothing of it because Trouba pretty much made it like it wasn't a big deal. There's some pros there's some cons, but if that's where I'm needed, that's where I play was the gist of it. "Plan to be in Wpg for start of camp?" Absolutely. Now a trade request. How he's used given as the primary reason. So cleeearrrrrly something's fishy here. To me it has to be 1 of 2 things, or a combo of the 2. 1) He does want out of Wpg. Saying it publicly is a death blow to your credibility. But given the request happened in May, some FOUR months ago, how could it not have to do with playing here? Especially given the comments at the world cup. 2) His ego is too big. Is it really about usage? 3rd in ice time last year at 22 yrs old. Maurice already pretty much opened the door for him to start with Buff this season; mins and pts shouldn't have been a problem for #8. If he was patient, within 2-3 years he'd likely have ascended past Buff anyways. So what the F happens now? Personally, if and when we make a deal, I'm holding out hope we can go an acquire a better player. We've got the picks and FW prospects to sweeten a Trouba trade and I hope Chevy finds a way to use his assets. -
Well pitter-patter let's get at 'er!

Grey Cup Sunday Jets game is a TSN3 game, so likely takes the blame away from Rogers (still, screw you Sportsnet). I think the NHL will eventually have to answer for this after the World Cup. Doesn't do them any favours having the game at that time and seems like an even bigger F-U considering the Bombers are hosting the NHL at our stadium this year. Payback for not bowing down to the league last season re: Heritage scheduling? H&L just said through the last 25 years no Canadian team has ever had a home game same time as GC on Sunday. This year, both Ott and Cgy have road games during the GC.

Yep, I'm the same boat. We're already trying to find people to take our Sept.30 Jets tickets. So speaking of, if anyone's interested let me know! And without having any knowledge of how the sked works, I'm fully ready to blame Sportsnet! Why can't they just go back to worrying about the Jays and NBA and leave the sports we care about to the real pros?!

Miller starting contract extension talks with Walters O'Shea
Jimmy Pop replied to Jpan85's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Sure, sputtering down the stretch and blowing a possible showdown with Cgy for the west crown in November would be disappointing. But what's the alternative, blow it up and start anew? Many have touched on it already, but what Walters and especially O'Shea have brought to the table the past 3 seasons has largely been the non tangible things that don't always translate to wins, aren't therefore aren't immediately clear to fans. I think Osh has established a "Bomber way" within that room. What's expected from the individual player as well as their contribution to the team. What's needed to win and win consistently. How to carry yourself like a pro, and put the team first. These are ideals well established for teams like Cgy. For Wpg, the only think we've been known for as of late is dysfunction and losing. Adding vets like Harris, Shologan and Dressler sure helps - but make no mistake, this is Mike O'Shea's team. Now, finally, after 2.5 years the wins are coming too. If the proof is in the pudding, the Bombers have just supplied 2 months worth of free snack packs to fans. And a good start that is. So while we're eating dessert, contemplating how to go from snack packs (regular season wins) to creme brule (postseason W's), let's not get too hasty and remodel the whole kitchen. We've been to cooking classes the last 2 years; now it's just about perfecting the recipe and dishing out good meals every week. Anyone else hungry now? -

Jets vs Oilers Heritage Classic

Bolded is my point. I'm not trying to be an anti-parent villian here - I just don't get what's so wrong about charging them for the kid's ticket. -
Jets vs Oilers Heritage Classic
Jimmy Pop replied to The Unknown Poster's topic in Winnipeg Jets Discussion
Exactly...How is it discrimination to make them pay for 3 tickets, when there's 3 of them?! They aren't barring them or the baby from coming. They're asking for fair value; i.e what a "regular" patron to the event would pay. ....ya know, the ones that actually watch the game, buy stuff, cheer, feed themselves etc. Entitlement at it's finest. -
Jets vs Oilers Heritage Classic
Jimmy Pop replied to The Unknown Poster's topic in Winnipeg Jets Discussion
I'd like Child and Protective Services to know because this couple has a decent chance of damaging the kid's hearing, permanently. So, pretty much F*ck the real Human rights violations going on? It's a good thing to equate paying for a hockey ticket to a lack of running water, adequate housing, social services, pay equality, gender rights..... ? Atomic said it more eloquently than me, but wow, mind bottling how people support this clowns. White privilege alive and well, and I guess for some Canadians too, that Trumps all else. -

What an absolute joke these people are! I thought they were whiny, entitled brats before....no they think this is a human rights violation!? My head hurts! -
As of 5pm yesterday. I don't see why we can't hit 28,000 at least. Supposed to be a great afternoon tomorrow. I'll be boating from the Leg to the stadium tomorrow - wave if you see us go by!

Around The NHL 2016/2017
Jimmy Pop replied to The Unknown Poster's topic in Winnipeg Jets Discussion
It's because the tweet was referencing last night's games, which only involved Jets' on US and Finland. I guess in Goalie's eyes the mistake was picturing Scheifele, which was confusing, as he didn't play yesterday....which was the point of the tweet....to highlight players playing yesterday. Why is this so hard?
