  1. Here's the thing: NOT ONE PERSON IS HAPPY WITH 7 WINS IN 32 STARTS. No one. And no one's said that either. The issue is.... and I'm really trying to go slow for you here: Words matter. So when you say, "I BET THE RIDERS WILL WIN MORE THAN THE BOMBERS" - know that 1) Someone may call you out and take the bet and 2) Most importantly, challenging that one position of yours DOES. NOT. MEAN. we are happy. The reality wouldn't be threatening to talk about. YOUR reality is threatening to my sanity, however. So, to review: criticism is fine. But be reasonable and for the love of Stegall, back up the words you say. And as many others have already said, QUIT cherry picking comments to suit your obtuse needs. Go re-read our little back and forth here, and hopefully you'll understand wtf people have been so frustrated about.
  2. I had a response all typed for him. Thought it wasn't worth it. That feeling of banging your head against the wall.... That's this and then some.
  3. It's not how you start the season, it's how you finish. Regardless of our horrid last 2 decades, underwhelming displays by this regime to date and every other negative thing you can think of - - - we're 0-2. 16 games to right the ship.
  4. No. We just don't feel the Riders will win more than us this year. Which is what you "bet". Which is why we're replying. ...these are the convoluted, oft-exaggerated comments that have been the major discussion point this thread.
  5. You and me both. I'm not convinced I'll ever go again. But with a new stadium opening and my group all turning 30 around the same time next year - I think 2017 might be the time to do it.
  6. The other difference is Connor will be on the wing, unlike Scheifs. A lot less defensive responsibilities and physical play required, I would think. I'm torn. I think he probably should start in the A - but won't.
  7. Roslovic sounds like he's going back to college this season.
  8. He's probably not even injured, just prepping retirement papers.
  9. 2012 LDC for me. 52-0 in their building. I guess it's not that bad right now. *shudders*
  10. Not too mention that If you miss a game, as I did this weekend, Odds & Sods is the best place to get a real recap of what happened.
  11. Sure hope so. Still too many FW's for roster spots available and a lottery-pick-worthy bottom defense pairing.
  12. You may be right. And if this was a few years ago, I'd agree 100%. I don't know...I think people are more down on this team organization than they have been in quite some time. If things start ugly on the 14th I think you'll see more people beating the traffic than booing the team.
  13. Well at least the Blue have one more week to get something, anything, positive going away from IGF. I fear, as others have mentioned, that another dreadful performance at home will leave us with tiny crowds and mostly apathetic fans the rest of the season. And that for better or worse, would certainly bring about change.
  14. The wildcard with Connor is what, if anything, was agreed to by him and the organization when he signed his contract. I don't pretend to know how these things work, but is there not a chance he signed a deal based on the idea he'd be getting NHL time? And if so, would that not mean that unless he has a real poor camp and preseason, he'll be a Jet for the better part of the season? Personally, I'll like him in the AHL to start the year, at the least. We need to start building a winner down there, and a winner that gets W's playing the Jets system, with Jet prospects. Potentially having Connor, Petan, Lemieux, Tanev, De Leo etc down there would sure add some competition. We've got enough skill in the top 6 without Connor, this year anyways, and in the bottom 6 I think there's enough talent to fill the lineup - and keep Thorburn and Peluso off the gameday lineup.
  15. Jerome Messam
  16. Nothing wrong with the Matthias signing. He's essentially what we want Lowry & Dano to be - but he's already established & proven. Great bottom 6 guy, and if it means no more Thorburn & Peluso in a Jets sweater, even better. Re: Trouba. Best news is no news, IMO. We have the whole summer to sign him and have all the power. The market has dictated that he's worth around $5M a season, and certainly not what his rumoured ask is. Be patient. Wait, he'll come around. Isles overpay Ladd. Why not just keep Okposo, if you could? I love what Lucic brings and even at the overpay, Oilers might be ready to push for a playoff spot this year. Vancouver.... Get a clue. Honestly. What the heck is that franchise trying to accomplish this season, long term, in general? No idea. Lastly: following this all from a house boat on Lake of the Woods. Boys and girls, this is the life. Happy Canada Day MBB! You're all gems!
  17. Andrew Harris
  18. I'm really excited to see our d-line this season. More specifically, Westerman. Gotta figure he destroys QBs this season with better interior lineman beside him.
  19. Is Bergevin really going to trade Subban?!? Habs presser coming up within the hour....lots of speculation it's PK...
  20. ...well he's Wpg bound now
  21. I don't necessarily disagree....but isn't this part of the sport's problem? Lack of marketability & personality from the game's very best? Take Evander Kane's time here. I was never one to have a huge issue with the moneyphone pic, the other social media posts - even the arrogance/cockyness. It was the arrogance COUPLED with the fact he never lived up to expectations (his own, even) and wasn't a good teammate (forget the shower; bringing his GF on the road, being aloof during off-time etc). If Patrik Laine develops into one of the game's best scorers and is a well-liked teammate - no fan (IMO) should worry about personality over production. Hell, Buff's been a fan favourite since day 1 and how many of us wanted him moved when he was out of shape and a defensive liability?
  22. Without ripping off Craig Button too much - I have to echo his sentiment from 1290 this morning. Until the pick is made, emotional attachment to either Finn is over the top. They'll be a great, potentially franchise-changing, player available at #2 who the Jets will select. If it's Laine, we're getting a pure sniper. If it's JP, we're getting a 2-way FW with some offensive flair. Can we go wrong? Sure. Will we know after the pick is made? Try 3 years down the line, if you want to truly judge properly. Personally - I'm on the Laine bandwagon. Not because I believe he's head and shoulders above JP - I'm not a paid scout, how would I know? But because I think what Laine brings is increasingly harder and rarer to find - elite level scoring, single handily transforms our PP, all with size and some grit. It goes without saying, the thing none of us can possible know is how the Jets interpret him - as a player, but more importantly as a person. We know how much TNSE values character, much to the chagrin of the analytics crowd FIRST OFFICIAL PREDICTION by me.... 1) Matthews 2) Laine 3) JP - as most have predicted. Oh and Bombers win the opener by 4.
  23. Mods, can we get a sarcasm emoji? So dangerous, you don't read small print! I was joking before - as the post said. Change the pick. Truthfully, couldn't care less about it.
  24. Nice try, Free Press. But Disneyworld is in Orlando. ...another article win for Metro
