  1. That's asinine. Hey, no one wants the Oilers to pick lower than I. But if they win the lottery, they win the lottery. They don't ask for money back if you win the Lotto twice. NHL crapped the bed, now they have to sleep in the ****.
  2. That pic is from 1900. I think at least a few members here were alive then.
  3. IC what you did there, IC.
  4. I just LOVE seeing comments like Messam's about us. Bulletin board material. Every fan should spam that tweet to all Bombers on twitter. If that isn't motivation, players from other teams thinking your team blows, than I don't know what is.
  5. And when someone uses excuses to justify below-grade players playing in elevated roles, I'll point it out too. The point is that Thorburn in that role is a failure of management to provide adequate depth and/or a failure of our coaching staff to trust him in that role over players with more offensive upside, a la Petan, Dano, Armia, Lipon, Komaschuk,
  6. He got 3rd line mins for half the season - that's not a false narrative. Body count be damned. The issue isn't that it was injuries that forced Thorburn into a bigger role. The issue is that he was in that role. Period. We can debate his value on this team, and sure, maybe elsewhere too he's a top 12 forward - but there's no way you can justify him in our top 9.
  7. Right from the day of the trade, even guys like Lawless weren't totally dismissing the idea of Ladd coming back. I think he guessed a 10% chance at the time. Unlikely, but who knows. We know the city and team are a good fit for him. However, I'm not sure he's a fit for us anymore. We've gots of LW already, especially with Connor en route. I see the stumbling block to a Ladd return as the same as it was all year; we'll happily pay what your worth, but not for 5 more years. ...Christ, if he did come back though... trade of the decade from our point of view.
  8. I agree. If Pavs hasn't been dealt after all these years of sub-par play, why would they deal him now when you're out of the contract in a year anyways. That said, it would be a truly appalling decision - and would really have my second-guessing the decision making of Chevy and Maurice. If this team trots out Pavs & Hutch for opening night; you better be telling fans that Nolan Patrick is #1 priority next season. Period.
  9. That wasn't the Wpg rink that defected was it?
  10. Also read the entire CCM line was being considered as a unit for US World Championships roster.
  11. Was Maria Sharapova not one of those athletes?
  12. When I was going to Canad Inns in the 90's as a kid, I always loved seeing B&B being pulled by a quad while on roller skates, going off ramps and what not. And in the 90's, that was often more entertaining then the product on the field. Side note: The guy who "was" Buzz during that time ended up being a neighbour out at the lake. Let me tell you: the man knew how to party! Rob: If you're out there, come by for a drink sometime!
  13. Interesting that it's a 1 yr deal. Essentially a 1 month contract. He'll be a RFA in the summer.
  14. CBC - Mar 11, 2016
  15. This I don't get. Is there any proven correlation to support this? Furthermore, the idea of enforcers protecting star players seems like an outdated notion anyway. Which enforcer is Pitt employing strictly to protect Crosby? Or Tampa with Stamkos? How about the 20+-years-straight-in-the-playoffs Detroit Red Wings - simply an exception to your rule? Fighting, at least in my lifetime watching hockey, certainly doesn't curtail any of the "chippy" things you mention. It's typically a response to the above mentioned actions. So not sure how a lack of fighting would increase occurrences of these acts,
  16. I'd hazard a guess that you never watched The Daily Show, save for a few youtube highlights. Only reasonable explanation. I say this because the bolded part is downright laughable if you're talking about Jon Stewart. Or are we just generalizing to prove a point?
  17. Exactly - whether they need to protect or not, Connor wouldn't be going anywhere. But if you're forced to have to protect him you're risking losing a guy like Perreault, Dano or Burmi. Certainly not core pieces...but still.
  18. Mac also says he be exempt from a possible 2017 expansion draft, but would require protection in 2018. Let him turn pro next season.
  19. And honestly, I think a lot of people laughed at them when they wanted a 3 yr commitment. Like Bombers...you've seen the product on the field lately, right? With 5,000 empty seats every game, what the hell incentive was there for fans to commit? Anywho, old news now. Here's hoping the next GC here is managed much, much (much) better.
  20. Obviously so the Best Fans in Canada can buy more blank green home jerseys to wear at Coyotes games.
