  1. He averages 7 mins of ice time per game. Give him some better linemates and 2-3 more mins a night and he'll develop into a fine 4th line center.
  2. Little moving to the wing next year may the natural progression. He's been a #1 centre so long, but often out of necessity. I love the guy, don't get me wrong. But he's not overly physical, just okay in the faceoff circle and does have some exp on the wing. Scheifele, Lowry and Copp will all be C here for a long, long time. If we grab Matthews *crosses fingers*, we're set down the middle for years...
  3. ...born in 1998. Good lord, how am I so old... Nice, big kid though. 6'3" 200 lbs at 17?!
  4. Yeah, I didn't like that either. You'd figure Scheifs would make the final roster though?
  5. Well I really enjoyed Deadpool. I had little to no knowledge of the comic and hadn't seen any previews. Entertaining and really funny. Had no idea Deadpool was Canadian, so hilarious surprise in the theater when he mentions he's from Regina, SK and then proceeds to hoof a bugger in the face while saying, "and this is why Regina rhymes with fun!".
  6. The reality is there never was a spot for Stempniak. He was a rental, no more no less.
  7. Is a 50/50 chance Hamonic ends up here too hopeful? Maybe not hopeful enough? For me, bottom line is he is getting traded somewhere, that's a given. And it's a given when he is moved, it'll only be to one of 3 or 4 teams tops. Has to play to our advantage. This makes sense.
  8. Ideally, IDEALLY - we're close to the point of Stu serving as the 7th defender. I realize salary may dictate otherwise, nonetheless... I'm hopeful Hamonic's a Jet next season, same with Morrissey. Forgetting LHD/RHD (right KBF!) I'd like to see Buff, Enstrom, Trouba, Meyers, Hamonic & Morrissey. Possible? Sure. Likey? Probably not....but that's why they pay Chevy to be GM.
  9. Considering Lee Stempniak has been mentioned 12894123 times more than he's worth, how about discussing another former Jet we didn't re-sign. Mike Frolik was a player we just couldn't afford to lose to many people. Now he's a 15 goal, 40 pt man with a fairly hefty price tag until he's 32 on a team no better than the Jets.
  10. Good thing there haven't been any threads like that then. The one we've currently been beating the dead horse on is the people seemingly claiming that by not resigning Stempniak it was some sort of epic blunder by Chevy that costed us dearly. Not signing Lee Stempniak was not an error by the Jets, it was a reasonably calculated low risk move. Instead of blaming the Jets, people should give NJ the credit. They were the one team willing to give a try out to an aging journeyman with a limited skill set. He panned out, they dealt him and got a return. Good for them.
  11. C - Wheeler, A - Scheifele & Lowry. Give the TNSE draft picks their due. When Maurice was first asked about the next captain he talked about the process, picking the right person etc - but also gave a glowing recommendation of Lowry...something to the effect of, he's got captain written all over him and will be a Jet for a long, long time. He mentioned that he'll soon be at the point where if a player isn't pulling their weight, Adam Lowry will let them know. That's a captain. Scheifs is a perfect lead by example type. I'd be pretty disappointed if we don't make a big push for Hamonic. We have plenty of assets at are disposal that would be attractive to NYI. He wants to be here. He's a prototypical defensive defenseman, something we lack. Get it done. If Hamonic ends up elsewhere, I sure hope it's because the package going to NYI was just too impressive to pass up.
  12. The door is open for Postma now; 20 games to show if he belongs. I wouldn't mind seeing Morrissey get a game or two this year to see how close he is. Lawless & Hustler were debating on H&L about giving Comrie a few games with the big club, too. Although I haven't heard all of Chevy's comments - generally speaking, we value our youth greatly. Should be confirmation (did we need it?) that Trouba is in the long term plans. I like the non-apologetic response to starting with youth this year. Ask yourself is you want a perennial 6-10th in the conference type team or a team who can seriously compete for a Cup. If it's the 2nd option you prefer, then the only way forward is to score big with your picks and prospects. Scheifele, Trouba & Lowry have had mostly successful intro's to the NHL; time for the next wave of Helle, Morrissey, Connor & now Dano. As much as it's disappointing to miss the playoffs; I'm very excited for the draft this year. We're picking early in round 1 and twice in the top 30 - and with our stockpile of picks and prospects, we could be a major player in the trademarket too.
  13. Long Term Injury Reserve? Steen, Elliot, Ott are all out. Think Pietrangelo is back now...
  14. I'd have mild interest in Yak, too. Can you get him out of Edm without Meyers or Trouba going the other way though? I'm thinking Morrissey is nearly untouchable, with our lack of top end D prospects....thoughts?
  15. I think I'd do Petan, Chi 1st and a throw in for Drouin. Were building with potential anyway, and the thought of him an Ehlers getting together again could be promising. Youd figure Stevie Y would be thinking NHL roster players in return though...they need a long playoff run to entice Stamkos.
  16. Ooo that's interesting. Where'd you hear that? I've been wondering what the market for Enstrom would be like. The common refrain around these parts is he's paid too much. Among the top 17 highest paid defenseman this season. Personally, I think ending his career in the eastern conference would be the best thing for Toby.
  17. You cherrypicked a real well written post in a really dumb way, that's why you got the reply. Don't comment on what I accept or don't accept, as you have no clue.
  18. I completely agree that there's at least an outside chance he signs here in the offseason. Will teams offer some good coin & term, sure. But how good will it be and who's offering it, we have no way of knowing right now. Alls I know, based on what's been said and reported: If Ladd had a choice between, say Edm and Wpg, and the difference in offers is 1 yr & <$1M give or take - I truly think he'd come back.
  19. ...or he just paid attention to actual words spoken by Ladd, agent, Chevy, Chipman.
  20. Seems very logical that would be a good comparable. I believe they had exact same pts in their 1st & 3rd years? Not the only thing that matters of course. Re: Matthews. I'd HATE to see him on a Canadian team that isn't us. I couldn't have less care or sympathy for the plight of their franchises. If it's not here, it would be cooler to see him with the hometown Yotes or Buff with Eichel.
  21. No doubt about that... has to get better, just has to. That I've never heard before. Not doubting you...just interesting.
  22. Wiecek reported just last week that Vincent & Huddy used to be in charge of PP&PK respectively, but now, as far as he can tell it's all on Maurice. Personally, I take that to mean; after years of subpar special teams we now recognize it all falls on the head coach. Biggest area of improvement needed for next season. If we get even average PP & PK, and Helle plays like he did this year....playoffs? Playoffs.
  23. Here's hoping the Canucks don't beat us to the punch and get a deal with Chicago done!! Possible Canucks trade with Blackhawks has legs
  24. Of course the longer this goes with Ladd, the debate rages on whether he should be playing or not. I can see both sides...but man, if Ladd were to go down in a meaningless game that could be devastating. He's scored 7 in his last 10 - hasn't he already proved "he's back" to the Ladd we're used to? Very interesting to see how Maurice handles the next few games before the deadline.
  25. The funniest thing is that even before the move of ATL, we had a Winnipeg Thrashers team with the same logo - and still do. Winnipeg Thrashers
