Leafs aren't awful at all, anymore. They have a roster devoid of talent, one that any other team should easily be able to stack up against - but the difference is they are well coached and play within their system. That said, I still believe the Jets aren't nearly as bad as they played in November. Here's hoping for a better December!

American writer covers 103rd Grey Cup

Ain't everything just peachy in Bomberland? -
Nice post. We're both on the same page, I think.

Here's another thought to play with. Had we gotten an extension done for Ladd and/or Buff this past summer - would we actually be "worse off" or hamstrung by the cap, like the popular notion seems to suggest? I think if either of them had a 5 or 6 year deal signed they'd be easier to move, and actually make us more flexible right now. It's pretty widely confirmed Chevy offered Buff for Hamonic. You think Snow turns that down if he knows for sure he's got Buff long term?

To answer Ducky's original ask. Yes (IMO) it's worse to lose them for nothing than to sign for a "bad" contract. The thing with "bad" contracts is you can move them for assets down the road. Sure, not easy & I'm sure those are tougher to pull off. But to me the flip side is a far worse scenario.

Now you're just waffling.

Tell me, who matters? People in the Inuit/Eskimo/first nations community... at least not from what I read... I don't pretend to speak for that group.... Just pretend to know who matters vs who doesn't, then?

Really says it all right there. Now, whether or not that discussion is civil... that seems to be the constant challenge.

You take that back!

If there's one thing I know, it's that old white men are certainly the best judge of what's offensive and what isn't.

To me today is the tougher game, and the game we need a spark to help us get over the hump. If we can't beat Col this weekend, regardless of who's in net, then you may as well mail 'er in anyway.

Apparently his alma mater is wishing him congrats on his first NHL start tonight. Haven't seen any confirmation anywhere tho? I think it's the smart call, if true. Helles Bells are ringing, time to answer.

My biggest issue with GC ticket prices was that for me, a GC ticket is nearly identical to the cost of the entire season's worth of games. That's why I said thanks, but no thanks. There's just no value there. Re: committments from STH. Bombers really misguided their pull here. They are NOT the Jets. And certainly not in a 33,500 seat stadium. Why the heck would I commit to 3 more years when I could wait and see what next year brings, first? I sit up in section 209 and have empty seats directly on either side, and literally entire rows worth empty right behind me. The only thing that really made/makes me want to renew is my family "seniority", which dates back to '84 and four years before I was born.

Go Jet's Go!

...or as the Leafs starter for the next 10 years.

This is why I was so certain Petan would go to the Moose. It flies in the face of the Jets' code of development. Ehlers, like you said is a special case. Copp to a degree might be special in that he was American and had to be "convinced" to turn pro, no? And part of that convincing might have been some assurances he'd play for the big club rather than the Moose. It really makes you wonder if it came down to budget. I mean, its not that much money, but why else would you not explore re-signing guys like Tlusty and Stepniak who could play bottom six effectively and put rookies in those spots? Im not even arguing they should have signed those two guys....but it seems they made a conscious decision to go younger and cheaper and accept the risks that come with it. There has to be at least 3 guys on the Moose right now that can play 5 minutes a game on the 4th line and probably be more effective in that role, than Petan where as Petan would likely benefit a lot from being a top line Center with lots of ice time in all situations. Westwood talked about this today with Trouba saying the difference between a player hitting expectations and being a "flop" can be confidence. I wonder where Petan's confidence is right now. And there still must be a plethora of bottom six guys the Jets could swing a trade for that would cost them next to nothing. If the idea was to not be committed to guys past this year, I find it difficult to believe they couldnt sign anyone for one year. Unless they are waiting fro Raffl to return and feel he's a better bottom six option... but again, it's robbing the Moose of talent and hindering development there. Herein lies the problem, IMO. There isn't 3 better players. Who have they looked to in the past? John Albert & Patrice Cormier? Lipon isn't ready. Armia hasn't shown nearly enough in ours or Buff's organization to warrant NHL time. Raffl hasn't been healthy. Who am I missing?

That Abdelkader deal can't help Chevy's negotiations. The guy is nearing 30 and has ONE 40 point season. Christ, Holland would've given Ladd $7M/year....
-
Expected lineup: Ladd - Little - Wheeler Perreault - Schiefele - Ehlers Stafford - Lowry - Thorburn Burmistrov - Copp - Petan Enstrom - Byfuglien Chiarot - Myers Stuart - Trouba Pavelec

Merry Christmas everyone.

Better news? Toronto's last game at Skydome or Bombers last game of 2015?

Sometimes you're flush and sometimes you're bust, and when you're up, it's never as good as it seems, and when you're down, you never think you'll be up again, but life goes on. Life goes on, Georgie.

Grey Cup Halftime Show is Fall Out Boy
Jimmy Pop replied to mikey d's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
I'd be floored if "we" landed the Foo especially given the relative crap that the half time show has seen since....well, my lifetime. One of rock's greatest acts in recent memory - I'd buy a ticket just to see them. -

I'd be shocked if the Ducks added another FW over 30 who commands $5M/yr and up. They've got too much invested in Getzaf, Perry & Kesler as it is.

Grey Cup Halftime Show is Fall Out Boy

I'm gonna guess Arkells. Not Canadian. Check again. Edit: Or did you mean the band chosen isn't Canadian? In which case, you'd be forgiven.
