  1. Winnipeg, the Jets and Evander are all better off. Time will tell if it works out for Buffalo.
  2. Well I for one am pumped for today! Big 50/50 draw at IGF Woot woot! And... Uh yeah, Go Blue and all..
  3. It's a running joke going on.... any Jets gameday, it's a "big game". The guys over at https://www.reddit.com/r/winnipegjets/ have been saying it every game since preseason.
  4. Big game tonight.
  5. No coach in the NHL is worth a top 40 draft pick, IMO. Torts antics aside, it's a pretty bad move made of desperation.
  6. I was at a conference yesterday held at IGF. The whole thing was set up pretty darn nicely by the Bomber folks - so kudos on that front. Wade spoke to the crowd of a couple hundred at lunch and talked about how they are really trying to (re)connect with the business community. He asked all those with Grey Cup tickets to stand - pretty sad to see no more than 2 or 3 people standing.
  7. Rider fan?
  8. Martin Jones. What a steal if you got him early on in fantasy drafts.
  9. The debating style of some posters here.
  10. Too bad this city not build for the future. I'm of the opinion that if we had an 18,000 seat building right now it would actually be worse off for the long term health of the Jets. Look at it this way, we're 5 seasons into the team being back and demand for tickets is still strong. Best evidence of this to me is the ST renewal rate. Now imagine 4+ seasons, 41 games per season and an extra few thousand tickets available for each game. That's easily 100,000 extra tickets that would have been sold by now. Sure, the revenue from those would be nice for the TNSE bottom line - but that's short term thinking. Long term thinking is "how do we ensure our building is sold out....forever." Also - why people (continually) focus on actual tickets sold is beyond me. Ticket revenue is what counts; and last I've heard the Jets are still right in the middle of the league in terms of how much $$$ they generate from ticket sales.
  11. To each their own, but I'll leave the "5 years from now..." stuff to Chevy & management. As a fan and STH, I want a good team this year and next year. Goalie, I respect your opinion about long term deals handicapping the team down the road, but what about handicapping the team NOW - and next season. Unless your getting solid roster players back, removing Buff or Ladd from this roster is a huge void to fill.
  12. What do you mean? I'm referring to the Bombers press release that put a positive spin on 25K GC tickets sold.
  13. That email surely wasn't sent to all STH, was it? I just checked and got nothing - another in the LONG list of fails by the BB marketing team. Yes, as someone else said, the team's piss poor play doesn't make their jobs easier, but still... No recent updates on Grey Cup tickets / sales? I guess the master plan is wait until the beginning of November and start unloading them for $20?? I could be way off, but the Bombers response (or lackthereof) to the last update was pretty disheartening.
  14. Some folks are taking this Muamba stuff WAY too personally. Christ, it's the guy's career and life, not yours. How does his "big tour" affect you!?! I for one would LOVE Henoc back, regardless of the how, what & why. Frankly, I'd think any fan who's serious about seeing this team get better would want Henoc back no matter how it happens. It's Friday people. Relax, have a beer on your lunch & get ready for some excellent sports options tonight!
  15. This is my feeling as well. *Some shots I've seen of "obstructed" views look like the main problem was the cameraman centering the floor in the shot, not the rink itself. That said, it's another reason I feel the very last 2-3 rows in each section are some of the best.
  16. Nah, St.Louis. The Reaves' are starting up a team of their own.
  17. The latest gem from Pederson (I'm nauseous typing this, knowing it may just give him more page views...). His blog reminds me of Creed's from the Office. http://www.rodpedersen.com/2015/09/thursday-rodservations_23.html
  18. I like Arthur - he's a good twitter follow too. Speaking of pompous windbags... isn't Steve Simmons a regular on The Reporters? IMO, Simmons and Damien Cox are easily 2 of the least desirable sports media in the country. Arthur is just so pretentious, especially on Twitter. I can't take it. Certainly I agree about Simmons as well. Cox is pretty much irrelevant at this point. I sure hope so. I hated seeing him as a panelist for the Jets/Ducks series. Hoping that was because it was Rogers' first playoffs and any tennis, Nascar or spelling bee correspondent needed to be utilized.

  20. I may be the only person in Wpg who's choosing the Bombers over the Jets Friday night....
  21. Well, he could have just said the standard (and correct) "we are what our record is". Don't BS knowledgeable football fans in this town with comments about how better we should be.... not when we're getting blown out of games. I'm not sure the other point holds water, either. How many other teams have significant injuries - better yet, who hasn't had big injuries, like us? I could be way off, but I don't think it's the record that bothers most. It's the overall lack of consistent effort, game planning and response to adversity.
  22. Lions might take a look at him. Not now, with Curran signing on.
  23. Nice to see Wild locked up long-term.
  24. Just a hunch? What makes you think that? I still think he signs before Oct.8
