BREAKING: Moose Returning to MTSC Next Season
Jimmy Pop replied to The Unknown Poster's topic in Winnipeg Jets Discussion
Anything but the Moose would make little sense to me. Like the Jets, the brand is already there and people liked it. Hell, the only banners hanging from the MTSC rafters are MOOSE banners. -
And Monday didn't completely suck this week.... go figure... and GO JETS GO! "Big game tomorrow"...
-
I thought franchises had learnt by now that building rinks that size was stupid.
-
Because goalies need games and starts to grow their abilities and learn from exp. Regardless of what they do with the goalies, they'll want Hutch, Helle and Comrie all getting starts somewhere. I agree, a Helle/Hutch combo would be nice for the Jets...but my guess is they'd rather have Helle start 55-60 games at the AHL level over what, maybe 20-30 at the NHL level. But hey, I work a desk job and have been way off about virtually everything all year.... Kane's still a Jet, right?
-
Writing sure appears on the wall for Pavs. The way he's played, coupled with the lack of faith from Maurice and Pav's recent comments - he's got to go. There's just no fit between the two sides anymore...the relationship just feels like it's deteriorated to Kane-like levels. Besides, Pavelec is at best the 4th most valuable goalie in the org. I feel like some overstate his value. If Clarkson & Horton can get moved - so can anyone! If I'm Chevy, I find someone/anyone who will take on Pavs remaining 2 (?) years after this. The return doesn't even matter - cap space is the return. Start '15/'16 with Hutch (1) and New Guy (2), Helley starts in St.John's the AHL again. 2016/17 looks like Hutch/Helley's team with Comrie starting in the A. Goalie pipeline looks strong...

Hutch starts.

Having not heard the interview, and with all due respect to Mike, this is like Lawless commenting on a trial down at the law courts.

100% you go back to Hutch in FLA. The guy is the reason we are where we are. Struggling as of late, you betcha. 2 strong games followed by 1 off night, rinse and repeat. But he's still your best chance at a W (shout out to Noel) and is part of our future - you have to stick with him through the down times. I came into work today and told coworkers, that play sums up perfectly Pavs career in Wpg. He can play lights out for 90% of a game, but just can't keep that focus at crucial moments. The loss falls squarely on his shoulders.
-
It's looking more and more like it'll be Wpg, LA & Cgy fighting for the last spot. 2 should get in, barring a collapse. 1 will miss. SJ hasn't done anything over the last few weeks to indicate they're really in the run, and Minny sure looks locked as the 1st WC. Should be a hell of a finish. Go get a W in FLA and it's a lot easier to put last night behind us.

I'd HATE to see Buff go, that said... He'll be 30 in a few weeks, and without a doubt is in the midst of his most impactful season as a pro... Has he peaked or a late bloomer? He'll clearly want a long term deal... I'd be okay with a 5 yr deal...but 6 or 7, no thanks... Then there's the comparables...looking at what other d-men are making, I don't see him even thinking about <$6M/yr.... Would Chevy/Jets be willing to invest some $40M give 'er take in total to keep him here? ...lots of $$$ ...lots of risks ...but after a season like this, for player and team, you'd really consider moving him?

The Wild Card race aka hockey's Final Four
Jimmy Pop replied to FrostyWinnipeg's topic in Winnipeg Jets Discussion
It's almost nauseating following this race day-by-day this year. This week we've lost once and had 2 unlucky nights on the out of town scoreboard....boom!...playoff chances down almost 20% back to essentially a coin flip. Someone said on 1290 yesterday, and I concur, I'd almost rather be asleep from now until April...wake me up then and let me know if we're in. My heart can't take it... But hey, happy Friday y'all! "Big game tomorrow"... -
Oh, duck off with will ya.

Let's just pray it's not Toronto...

Clear homer bias aside, Bryan Little has to be one of the most underrated players in the league.

A slagging of rider priders by a Ticat (I think anyway) fan..
Jimmy Pop replied to SPuDS's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
You did see that the Coyotes are playing the Ducks in that game. What they have to do with each other is the Getzlaf brothers. -
Could the Jets actually make a Cup Run this year?

The Riders, their fans and the community are among the most egotistical in sports. Really, they're the Leafs of the CFL. By in large, completely unsuccessful. Universally despised by virtually every other fanbase. Crap like this pisses me off....and I get it shouldn't, 'cuz who really cares, but seriously, what the hell do Riders and football have to do with a hockey game in AZ?!?! God I hope Yotes fans boo the hell outta them! http://www.riderville.com/calendar/show/id/1019 -
I'm no Pavelec defender but that's not even slightly accurate.Actually yes it is. You know when someone makes a statement like that he/she will be asked to prove it. Adding "one of..." would have helped out gbill and saved us all some time. Sometimes, common sense can be applied though, no? - one of the worst, the worst.... 6 of one, 1/2 dozen of the other... Since Pavs broke into the NHL (full time), the league average for goalies is 2.58 GAA and .913 SV%. Pavs clocks in at 2.92 GAA and .906 SV%. Considering Pavs has been below the league average in both categories every single year, pretty safe to say he's been one of the worst starters over that period. He's also averaged 54 appearances per season over the last 5 - which seems very high given his play (relative to the rest of the league) especially factoring in the shortened season where he was 44/48. The statistical roadblock to proclaiming Pavs the worst in the league is that no other goalie has put up numbers similar to him, and had such a long leash for so long.

Saw on twitter yesterday he was working out with Rams RB Zac Stacey... if that counts for anything... aka, 2014's Fantasy Bust of the Year.
-
They'll move the team to PHO again before they'd ever think of moving Buff.
-
Don't you have that backwards though? Frolik makes over $1M less than Tlusty currently. I know Fro's due for a raise, but I figure they'll both be in that $3-$3.5M range. With the friendship and ties they have together, I'd love to see both back flanking Lowry on the 3rd line. Of our UFA's, Stafford's the guy you let walk, IMHO.

Fresh off a correct prediction Tuesday night (which netted me $35 in our office gambling) I'll go: Winnipeg 4 St.Louis 2 See you all at the arena! BE LOUD 300 LEVEL! Playoff push is upon us...
-
I thought Galiardi sucked last night, tbh. He skates okay but just can't handle the puck at all. When healthy, our top 9 FWs and top 6 D look pretty darn solid now. If Hutch can play like he did on Tues moving forward, look out.

Soon the Jets will only have players from Minnesota and Kladno.
