  1. So being concerned with the state of this team as of today = being a negative, whiny ______ ? Let's just shut down the forum til June, because apparently we can't talk anything negative yet because the season is too far away from starting.
  2. It's February. People need to stop getting their panties in a knot, sit their ass down and just watch it all play out. We have no slightest idea what the final product will be. People need to relax. Sure, but we know what the final product won't include. Look, are people overreacting a bit given it's Feb.4? Sure. But I think there's merit for the worry and concern. There are not an infinite number of QB's available in this league, and if recent Bomber teams are any indication - backups are very important. If we were one starter or one "up and comer" away from completing our QB stable, than people wouldn't be panicking....we're worried because we have ZILCH, NATA, NOTHING at the most important position AND we've been spurned the last 2 times we've tried bringing someone in.
  3. Hamilton can use our stadium and allow more time for their's to be ready. Meanwhile fans that had a hankering (pun intended) for Collaros can see him start every game.
  4. I heard they're going to run at eachother from opposite ends of the room and trade lives. Like an XFL kickoff?
  5. Burris' agent has said he'd be open to a 2 yr deal "if the money's right".
  6. Great post. That being said I still believe paying a soon to be 39 year old wildly inconsistent quarterback is extremely short sighted even if it doesn't handcuff us financially. I just don't see the point in investing money in a QB that by the time he is ready to ride off into retirement, the team will be in a position to compete for a championship. I think it also delays the development of whoever will be #2 on the depth chart for the season whether that be Willy or someone else. Because in addition to making this franchise consistently competitive long term, Walters, O'Shea and co. are tasked with making this team respectable NOW - like, for this upcoming season. I know some will disagree, but we just can't be okay with another 3 win season. To even try and make this team consistently competitive and challenging for the Cup, we need to gain some ounce (sorry, litre) of RESPECT from around the league - and we're not doing that until we win some damn football games. Burris needs to be brought in because he's the best available right now - Willy or any other QB is a non-factor at this point b/c they're still FA. Not getting Burris, and potentially not getting Willy would be an absolute disaster for this team - going in with some sort of Hall, Goltz and newbie combo? Puh-leaze! I don't think you'll find anyone who thinks Burris will win us a Cup, or that he's the long term solution - but he absolutely makes us a FAR better team the second we sign him.
  7. Even in that 2 team league I can't see either team winning. All they'd hand out at the end of the year is those colourful participation ribbons kids get for science fairs.
  8. Obligatory "can he play QB?" Post.
  9. That's what we had last year... except that instead of age we're talking QB rating...
  10. Not named Darian Durant, you mean.
  11. Sure did. http://www.fifa.com/womensworldcup/destination/cities/city=18908/index.html
  12. Good luck Khari! I'm just glad he won't be wearing Rider puke green colours again.
  13. I love the signing. Too often we've let the "good guys" slip away. The ones that have that leadership quality, a sense of professionalism and a seemingly genuine passion for the 3 down game and our city - Vega is one of those guys. No only is our dline better today, but the entire dressing room as well. Good move Walters.
  14. We just need someone with distance on kickoffs. Our offence will be scoring so many TDs, we won't have a need for a FG kicker.
  15. 'cuz, shut up! That's how!
  16. First dibs? Jets fans, no question. There's only 13,000 or so of us, so not too much to accommodate. I'm sure they'll give Bomber STH a chance at a presale or something, wouldn't expect more than that.
  17. And sadly, Wazny is the younger "in training" version in the local media.
  18. Now that you've changed your avatar, does this mean the circus has officially left Winniepg? I think the past two days have been very important for Winnipeg's football future. I'm very happy. I for one haven't been this excited Bombers-wise in ages. In the span of a few days we've brought in 3 quality people with extensive football (and CFL) backgrounds. And O'Shea as HC, well I think DB summed it up nicely. Really has all the qualities you want as a HC....now just surround him with exp coordinators.
  19. http://www.winnipegfreepress.com/sports/football/bombers/Bombers-hiring-Danny-McManus-as-assistant-GM-234082591.html
  20. This is the first deal of its kind in the sports realm. First time a league has given exclusive rights in one country to one partner. That kind of screams CANADA!
  21. I somewhat disagree. If a guy is talented, smart, and most of all athletic - they will look at him. I'm not sure that it's so much of a stigma if he's getting workouts. Fair enough. Still seems like a disadvantage to me, having to learn the game, the nuances, the things most Americans would learn from HS thru to college and the pros. But hey, I've never played or coached - what do I know!
  22. Why would a team take a flyer on Muamba when players of his size and skill set are so plentiful down there? Then there's the whole Canadian stigma, having to learn the American game... just can't see it happening.
  23. @TSNBobMcKenzie: TSN's national rights package for NHL games expires at end of this season and isn't being renewed. NHL to announce new CBC-Rogers deal Tues. Okay, so not directly CFL or Bombers related, but suddenly the CFL is by far their biggest property now on TSN. Can we expect even more in depth coverage of the league now?
  24. I didn't know so many of TSN's marketing people were members here, impressive! Seriously though, how many people acutally turn on halftime just to see the music? And if, some how some way, that number is more than I'd think, how many of those people say to themselves "OMG BFF I SO LIKE FRICKEN LOVE HEDLEY, IM GOING TO BE THE BIGGEST CFL FAN EVER FROM NOW ON!" If 12 yr old girls are the viewers they want, than don't even show the game and just play a Beiber DVD on a loop for 3.5 hrs. From the celebration of the Nation of Saskatchewan pregame right on thru, the whole thing was pretty unwatchable.
  25. Why? Even if he plays stellar I think most would still expect a Riders win. Austin gave the ole Burke line of "we played a better team" tonight. Bottom line. He got his team there. I'd take him over Glenn only because at their best Henry is better. My friend won $200 on a GC score ticket. I told him to mail it to the Bombers offices with a "For Collaros" note attached.
