I was thinking more of the Jim Daley era when we had the putrid Smith brothers in the secondary.
-
The Bombers receivers sans were horrible from 2003-2004 when Bobby G started to decline until Armstrong was signed in 2006. That easily one of the teams biggest flaws back then, along with that putrid secondary.

News this important deserves to be its own thread.

Well, he doesn’t really have the ability to throw those balls with guys like Dressler, Denmark, Coates, JFG, etc. on the field.
-
3 import O-linemen is one of the biggest keys to our success. We should happily trot out the exact same O-line if feasabile. A second Canadian receiver would be nice, but we’re going to have to sign one who can give us decent production consistently. Maybe Coates can be that guy, but I’m not sure.
-
Agreed, he got absolutely destroyed. He did hurt that area in back to back years though. Hopefully the potential for re-injury hasn’t grown.
-
He never really played that well. He just happened to catch two touchdowns apiece in games against Sask and Montreal in the middle third of the season. He struggled mightily for the first six and back six, while producing adequately to above average for the middle six. First six games 12/154 2TDS Middle six 32/329/4TDS Last seven including the playoff game 16/145 1TD(with 6/63 coming in one game against Hamilton... he put up 10/82 in the other six games combined) Total - 60/628/TDS Per game average - 3.16 catches/33.1 yards a game. Production akin to that of a fifth Canadian receiver. Denmark played poorly all year sans those middle six games. When we needed him to step up, following the Darvin, injury he was no where to be seen. Many on this site were defending him prior to the playoffs, but as I was saying for the last little bit of the year, he played like a man with nothing left in the tank. I can't imagine him playing another game in the CFL.
-
Dressler is the type of guy who embodies what this team is about. There’s no question that we need him on the team still. With that being said, I agree that he needs a haircut on his paycheque and should slide into that WR3 role.
-
Bring back Bond and Bryant, two of Leggett, Randle, Heath(I’d prefer all three but might be tough to afford them), Dressler and one import and one Canadian receiver and I’ll be a happy camper. Hopefully we can also recruit a decent MLB. That’s not too much to ask for right?
-
I’m fine to have Medlock back, but I hope they didn’t break the bank for him. He just wasn’t worth that 185K this year. Having Flanders back is awesome. I’m happy he’s sticking around, and that we found a role for him until he’s needed at RB.
-
Absolutely. Where are the receivers? The linebackers? Even the DB’s were questionable.
-
The West continuously getting the crap kicked out of it by the ''weak east'' in the Grey Cup really takes away from the argument of making the radical change of changing the playoff seeding .
-
You can challenge PI. Calgary used their challenge earlier in the game regardless.
-
What a game! I love seeing the Stumps choke in the Grey Cup in back to back years. It couldn't have happened to a better guy than BLM.
-
I apologize for saying that you sucked last week Posey.
-
Best regular season coach maybe, two playoff losses in five years isn’t impressive. Doug Berry and Lapo took us to the Grey Cup at least. I’d still probably say that O’Shea has been more successful than Lapo, but not more than Berry.

Former Bomber Head Coach Mike Riley Fired

Bring em home. -
Or you’d get sued into oblivion. Im sure they’re working towards a solution behind the scenes.

Although neither is ideal, playing Hurl was worse than Thomas playing full-time would’ve been. Coates at receiver would’ve been much better than Hurl playing. We got very little production from our fourth import receiver regardless, we wouldn’t have lost much Offensively with Coates playing over middling secondary options like Denmark and Washington. If you want to argue that all the American MLBs we brought into camp sucked and that it wasn’t worth changing the ratio for them that’s fair enough. But, that poses another question. Hurl was a complete turnstile all year, why didn’t we give another Canadian MLB a chance at outperforming him? We had Thomas Miles on the roster all year, and he never got the opportunity to play. Miles in 2016 had some good games in Toronto, and looked better than Hurl ever did here. I’m not sure there’s any justification that can be used for not giving Miles an opportunity to play with Hurl playing so poorly all year.
-
The issue I see here is that, our biggest weakness this year was starting Sam Hurl for 18 games. This was also one of our teams biggest flaws in 2015. How can you justify having the same problem for that long on a football team? It’s asinine.

Around the League - Regular Season Discussion (Redux)
Blueandgold replied to BigBlue's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
He missed way too many open throws to be a consistent starter in the CFL unless he rapidly improves. He’s good enough to compete for the starting job, but I wouldn’t hand it to him without stiff competition. I get the same feeling about him that I got from Jonathon Jennings after 2016. Despite putting up some nice numbers and having some good games, I’m not sold on him as a starting QB long-term yet. -

They just need a better QB than Masoli who’s far too inaccurate. -

Neither Ray nor Calvillo were playing particularly well before Trestmam came along. -
We should’ve done whatever it took to outbid Saskatchewan for him if we knew that Hurl was a possiblity for 2017.

Man Anthony Parker is soft. I’d love to see that drop cost cal
