TSN Off-Season Game Plan: Winnipeg Jets

And he'd come more expensive than both. At burni's age and skillset he would be an instant upgrade for the Jets. 3rd line centre. Top six winger. Pk and PP role. -

I don't get the thing about sideline neurologists. Just seems like an idea that is being puffed up without actually thinking about it. Does the NHL have specific neurologists on the bench? My understanding is there are league mandated protocols in place for the teams existing training staff to abide by. Are the cfl trainers not capable of checking for concussions etc? Players should understand that the nfl has a lot Of things the cfl doesn't and won't have. -

If You're trying to tell me that a female fan hit the ring , attacked a wrestler and forcibly pinned him while the ref counted and you think it wasn't planned I call BS. Just wouldn't happen. I don't doubt there was very poor wrestling. That I know. My promotion has had the best guys locally for our entire run of 12 years. -

The way I heard it from someone in the know was simply that Hal wanted some changes and CjoB didn't. Hal was working without a contract for awhile. -

The company always has the better pr too. Unions might waste money on stupid things but it's rarely spent on pr and marketing. -

That's unfortunate. But his agent also said burmi wouldn't go to the K. So it could be a negotiating ploy. Burmi has no leverage. He either plays for the jets or he doesn't play in the NHL. -

Rookie Camp Day 3 (Reports and Discussion)
The Unknown Poster replied to M.O.A.B.'s topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Mr. Cohon (avatar), you have to be on the negotiating table to hammer this CBA deal out. You are not needed here in this Bombers Rookie Training Camp. LOL! I called off talks yesterday so I could have a long weekend, check out Bomber camp and hit the tanning salon! About those tanning salons, I have have some bad news for you . . . I really want to add a Bad News Barrett pic to this. But I have no idea how. So yeah, just visualise it. Mike - any guesses as to the cuts? You're a great man. -

Reports out now that Sterling has some mental impairment. Sources say he's been deemed incompetent while his lawyer says that is an over-statement and that he is merely experiencing a "slowing down". It also explains why the sale of the Clippers has been handled solely by his wife. If he has dimentia, it would potentially explain a few things, like that awful CNN interview. Anyone who has ever had a loved one go through that knows it can certainly lead to inappropriate remarks etc. -

It impacts them more because they are Americans who "live" in the US mostly and get paid in Canadian dollars. Whereas you and I get paid in Canadian dollars and spend and live in Canada, we dont see any difference. But it was still a stupid remark. -
I was going to start an Ice Caps thread today! Glad you did so. Sounds like it would just end up being the undesirable 5 day break between game 3 and game 4. Not ideal but what can you do. Danny Williams is pretty bold in his comments about their arena partners. But for sure, it would be awesome to see the Caps play at MTSC. Im sure it would draw a huge crowd. Looking at the success of the caps, it makes you feel pretty good about the future of the Jets. The Caps should only get better with the likes of Scott Kosmachuk going there next season and a couple others (too bad Petan and Morrissey cant play there next season). Hoopefully Telegin comes back too.

That doesn't give fans like you a right to be disrespectful towards the players. I've been paying attention to your posts throughout the entire process of the pending lockout. You've been incredibly emotional the whole time, switching from one extreme "there will NEVER be a lockout!" to another "if there's a lockout, the CFL could be gone forever" and now you've moved on to disrespecting players by singling them out and calling them morons, douchebags, etc. For all the heat they've taken about things, I have yet to publically see a player call anybody else (fan, owner, whoever) a douchebag or a moron so why is it acceptable for you? The worst thing I've seen is Nick Moore's tweet about the good faith reporting to camp thing and even though I already don't much care for him and I don't really support his statement, I also don't think it warrants somebody calling him a douchebag. I think what I'd rather see than the fans turn their back at main camp is if you would actually be willing to go up to Korey Banks in person and call him a douchebag or a moron. I tend to agree Mike. I dont, at this point, see any reason for a show of "dissastisfaction" to the players yet. Despite the stupidity and ill advised remarks of *some* players, most are probably chomping at the bit to get this behind them and get playing (which is why the PA wont put the league's latest offer to a vote, because it would likely be accepted). Also, players are humans and emotional too and twitter is a great way to spout of emotionally without thinking about it. Goes both ways. Id cut the players some slack to a degree though I find it absurd that the PA didnt impost a cone of silence on their membership. Also, I'd gladly walk up to any player and tell them I think they have a fair deal on the table and should accept it. I bet most would secretly agree. -

I think its the lack of knowledge that frustrates fans. As fans we are all hoping a fair deal for all sides is worked out and I think we all agree the players deserve a raise. But I think when it comes to talk of strike or missed camps, missed games etc, when we see the lack of knowledge on one side of the negotiations, it's difficult not to be upset and feel "wow, these idiots are going to cost us games?" Most of us that are fairly intelligent, even if we're not versed in labour process can likely see the deal that can be made here. And when players start saying they are going without food or deserve a raise because the dollar is lower, you wonder if the divide is more due to failure to comprehend reality than anything else. So I can see why that upsets some fans. I thought the response about the AFL was hilarious and appropriate. The other replies, not so much. -

hmm, just a question here about the wrestling stuff, were the wrestlers in character at the time? cuz, if they were.. then them getting upset is actually just part of the act. Especially if they were portraying heels. Unfortunately no, for the most part it was guys who were really skinny and unable to pull off most moves (suplexes) because they were 150 lbs and tiny. I mentioned it before in another thread one of my favorite moments was when a drunk lady jumped in the ring and over powered the wrestler and pinned him resulting in many laughs and the promoter shaking his head in pity. Lol. Unfortunately that never happened. It just wouldn't. if it happened, it was part of the show. RME had their issues. I've known 150 lb wrestlers that were tremendous. You obviously dont know how wrestling is worked (which is fine) but saying a guy was 150 lbs so he couldnt execute a suplex is ludicrous, if you know how wrestling is worked. -

I had no involvement in Ringmasters but if guys in the ring got upset, are you sure they weren't working and selling as they should have been? Also, I'm not a local wrestler. Also, I dont get worked up at all. Suspecting you have underlying discrimination to certain segments of the population only disappoints me, it doesnt anger me. i have to believe it was just part of the act also, i mean, if a drunk lady got in the ring and one of those guys actually did something to her, she could have probably sued that organization. She's lucky she didn't try that at a wwe event, she would have been beat down pretty big time. Exactly. And the best thing is, if the crowd was having fun and the wrestlers were reacting "selling" for them and Brandon thought it was all real, he's what we like to call a "mark". (We're all marks really, but it has various meanings. We can figure out the one that applies to Brandon). -

The Unknown Poster replied to The Unknown Poster's topic in General Discussion
I dont disagree with the above, but the complicating factor here is the fact it was a private conversation. So the issue becomes, does a person have the right to engage in a private conversation without fear of reprisal, within reason ofcourse. If you privately say you want to kill your wife, you are not subject to protection. If you say you hate all black people and wish they were dead, that is also actionable. But I think when you apply common sense to a scenario whereby someone expresses an opinion within the confines of a private conversation that certainly doesnt rise to the level of threatening or hate or even really contributing to any sort of moral or ethical decay, does that person have the right to protection? On the flip side, the NBA is a "private" club and the club can admit or eject whomever they want based on their own by-laws. I truly think if Sterling had immediately come out and made a public apology and let his PR people do damage control (where was the context to the remarks, potential set up etc), he'd be in a position to keep the team. He even had Mark Cuban defending him. But his CNN interview sealed his fate. -

Well if we give him a raise now, will he give back some money if/when the CDN dollar rises? Yeah, I didnt think so. Its times like these you see the ego of people come out. Its nice for us to think of the CFL as sort of that down to earth, grass roots league. But it goes to show you there are people in it just for money who dont really "get" the reality of the situation. Question: How does a cap increase this season impact contracts? If the cap goes up 3%, does every contract get a 3% raise? Does it just give the teams more wiggle room for further signings? And if a team happened to not be at the floor after the cap raise, do they have to sign a player just to hit the floor or give a player an unexpected raise? -

I was *this close* to suing Sammy and his Goldeyes over a dispute involving rental of the ball park. Had some fun email exchanges with his right hand jerkwad Wayne. My buddy at the Sun was amused when we started CC'ing the paper in an ever-expanding effort to subtly threaten the other side with media coverage of our spat. Best feeling in the world was telling Sammy "we'll leave it" when he made us a "take it or leave it" offer. Beautiful facility though. -

if you're thinking of Skiddlebits, it was CTV I believe. I was on that show a couple of times...lol As for the Sun being a paysite, I totally understand why. I think they allow you ten free stories a month. I used to be an avid reader of both papers, then mostly just the Sun, then neither. I can read most of the stories online and get instant, immediate updates with opinions, facts etc via my phone. Who needs a newspaper? -

Milwaukee is a smaller market with a bad TV deal. Clippers are in a huge market. I read their TV deal is up soon and will likely bring in significant revenue. its counter intuitive that a forced sale would net a record price but thats what a bidding war will do for you. A group including Oprah had bid $1.6 billion apparently. At $2 billion, it's probably not a bad investment, especially if the new owner is a fan who intends to keep the team for a generation. The rapidly increasing TV rights for sports properties will eventually pay off the capital cost of buying the team. And unless the NBA collapses, he will be able to recoup the purchase price in a future sale. -

How exactly do you teach a multi-billionaire a lesson? I dare say they just want to get rid of him. For sure. Just sarcasm on my part in the sense he's being forced to go out and make $2 billion. Tough life.
