My memory might be hazy but did Montreal not have a pretty good offense under Berry?

Miller has stated repeatedly that the GM will hire the coach. But if Khari is a done deal as HC than Miller hired him. So how's this for a crazy thought, Khari becomes GM and HC with Walters as assistant.

I've been saying for awhile that's a potential dream team as far as coordinators. Berry as OC. Burke as DC.

I dont believe for one second that the GM will have sole responsibility for picking the Head Coach. If the HC is Khari, that decision was made awhile go by Wade Miller.

Walters should have made the announcement because he is the GM until otherwise stated. Making announces now does not preclude him being replaced.

We need more talent on the O-Line too though.

If *anyone* considered Tillman, that is proof they arent cut out for whatever job they have. He's a nutcase. Although it would be a lot of fun guessing as to which Pro-Tillman anonymous poster he was on this board.

I agree. The GM (which is Walters) should be front and centre on the Burke firing, not the CEO. As time progresses we will see if the "positive" announcements are Miller's and the "negative" announcements are Walters.

It seems bad but the BoD really made one poor choice and that was hiring Joe Mack to "fix" everything. You could argue Butchko was a bad BoD decision too but he was here such a short time and didnt seem to do anything anyway. A lot of negative came out of the Mack hiring. One would presume the BoD wanted a strong football guy to step into Lyle's shoes. The Mike Kelly error was Lyle's (and had Kelly come in with a different attitude, who knows what might have happened) which the BoD moved quickly to rectify once the domestic charges came to light. Let's hope Wade Miller is the hire the franchise needs.

Doug Berry and Tim Burke as our coordinators would be pretty good.

I hate when the spending on players topic comes up. The cfl has a salary cap which includes a salary floor. Every team spends the same on players within a couple hundred grand. It wasn't what they spent, it was how they spent it. Also Miller said before that Walters had the power of the GM while he was interim GM. He was out here making trades and signings and giving pressers. But suddenly he can't so the Burke presser because he's not really the GM? I don't know if it's an ego thing but miller shouldn't have been the one making the announcement. It should have been Walters. And if he can't so it because of his title then relieve him of his duties.

I think thats my issue. Miller *says* the GM will handle football ops and yet we dont hear from the GM. Miller *says* the GM will make the decisions and yet it *seems* the CEO is making the decisions. Just appoint yourself GM then.

Miller rubs me the wrong way. The GM will select the HC? Just like the GM will fire the current coach? Miller said football ops would be up to the GM, then he said football ops decisions are made after discussing with him first. Who's he trying to fool? "The GM will hire the coach...that I tell him to hire" is more accurate.

Twitter says all the assistants contracts expire this year so they arent technically fired, just not being renewed. I thought it was Dec 1st, but could be wrong.

I sort of get the impression the Bombers had no intention of making this announcement yet. That would explain their "the CFL wont let us make moves until after the Cup" snafu (why they thought no one would check on that is a good question). But given Miller's "timeline", I think he wanted to unviel his "team" all at once. Cant do that until Khari is available (if he's the HC). That would also explain the love for Burke as DC. If the Bombers know thats the direction they are going, they cant very well say the incoming HC has okayed the selection if they cant even hire that HC yet. Probably wanted to present Walters, Khari and Burke together.

Khari as HC with burke as DC could be decent. Hear me out. As unsuccessful as Burke's time as HC was, he might be just the type of elder football statesman that a young HC needs. Clearly, Burke is a gifted football man with decades of experience, he just wasnt a good HC. But as far as stability in the coordinators role, thats as stable as it gets. The bigger question is who's the OC. Maybe my "source" had it wrong (and one of the people actually said "the names are right but backwards" which made no sense. What if its Khari as HC and Matt as OC? I know I know, why would Matt give up TSN for an OC gig. Just speculating. lol

Hey I heard about Khari as HC two weeks ago...but that was chalked up to "drunk friends", nevermind that the source was a member of team management. Anywho, the fact Khari could be the new HC might be the worst kept secret in the CFL so why would Dickenson say he wants the job if he knows Khari has it? Also, I'd like to give credit to Burke for being pretty classy about this DC thing. The guy got fired and is saying he's interested in staying on in a demotion and saying all the right things. Good on him. Id also keep Creehan in a lesser role especially if Burke stays on.

If Miller was going to make the best decision for the team and wants Khari involved, he'd make him OC and Asst. Coach. But I think we all know whats going to happen here. Ofcourse, Miller might truly believe Khari is the best man for the HC job. And maybe he will be.

I realise Creehan is as good as gone but it's still poor form to publicly hope a specific guy stays as DC when you havent publicly settled the current DC yet. Burke is of a certain age. If he likes Winnipeg, has roots here, likes the organization, likes Walters and Miller, I could definitely see the appeal in staying on here as DC.

Ottawa would be crazy to not look at Burke for DC. But that would mean giving up his HC salary here. I strongly suspect Miller wants to retain Burke (which is smart on multiple fronts) and the decision is probably made pending the announcement of Khari as HC. Although it is interesting that Miller would publicly announce interest in Burke as DC when our own DC hasnt been fired yet. if Im Creehan Im like "uhhh...what?"

Didnt the team announce just last week that thet werent allowed to make any moves until after the Cup? Obviously they were wrong, but that was their own statement. Didnt Miller just say like two days ago it would be 3-5 weeks to find a GM and *then* the GM would make the coaching decision?

The way I interpret twitter chatter, Burke has all but been told he will remain as DC if the new HC wants him. Which is weird. But presumably Burke agreed to it. Which is credit to him.

No joy in a good, decent person being fired. Good move for the Bombers but Tim Burke is a real person who just lost a dream job.
