  1. In fact, I recall Chevy saying they actually went above their own comfort level in their offer to Stastny before losing the bidding war to Vegas, And your memory is correct in how we got him in the first place. Chevy was surprised when he was texted that Stastny was available.
  2. Well Gardiner would have cost us only money and not an asset.
  3. I did see a rumour a couple weeks ago that jets had talked to Dion Phaneuf. Totally unsubstantiated though...but who is out there?
  4. I doubt Brossoit since he was a good back up and is pals with Helle. Probably a pick. I dont love Faulk though. Rather take a look at Honka but again, that doesnt shore us up today. Had the Jets known, they'd likely have gone after Gardner harder.
  5. Well yes, true, they need to add four contract. Well, they'd have a lot of money to play with.
  6. if Buff retires, I assume the Jets would make a trade. And probably not Ehlers for whomever since they wont need to shed salary. In fact, if Buff retires and Connor & Laine dont report by Oct, Jets are under the cap floor and would need to add. I assume they'll just sign Connor at the very least.
  7. Adversity can help bring a team together. It is what it is. Its not like laine & Connor are going to sit out the season.
  8. So many rumours flying so I wont add to them by saying anything but the guy who told me it was Buff considering retirement said there was a physical ailment component to it. I think its a matter of having the drive to play through an issue or not. He has a lot of money but this year he would take home $8 million so you'd almost think one more year for your last big payday. Id assume this wasnt something he was leaning towards previously cause if so, Jets would have had a lot of money to play with in free agency. And they're clearly hoping he decides to play. Ultimately, he doesnt owe us anything so if he hangs em up, we were lucky to have him.
  9. Well there was a rumour this weekend that they were close to a 3 year bridge but then it fell apart. Sounds like Laine’s point is that he wants top line pay because he’s a top line player and his counter argument to the question of his stats is that he was forced to play on the second line with a Center that didn’t compliment him. So he’s probably saying why should I sign a team friendly bridge when there is no guarantee I’m going to be used with the best players to maximize my next contract.
  10. He’s referred to as skilled with a great shot but his KHL stats don’t peg him as a scorer. Might fit in as a good bottom six.
  11. Underrated signing if he pans out This, from when jets signed him: 6’4. 230. 26 years old. Left shooting winger
  12. The buff rumours about retirement are all fan driven. It’s all over the HF boards with no sources. The story goes he considered retirement last season. But he was here skating so unless he suddenly felt his heart wasn’t in it I don’t really buy it.
  13. Good article here. If he continues to develop there is certainly room for him
