  1. I love that they're putting the heat on Barr. hahahahaa Done these people know that Trump has zero loyalty and will throw anyone under the bus to escape taking responsibility for anything?
  2. Its different. Any thought that health or government authorities should have stopped the protests is a non starter. Thats exactly what you dont do when 20,000 people are marching for a cause. Plus, its different. This isnt people wanting to get haircuts. Its an historic protest happening all over the world. In a perfect scenario, they dont happen...public health comes first. In this case, you take the risk, or you allow the risk because the greater good is of historic importance. And the last thing you do is send in swat teams to fight protesters.
  3. I posted a sort about the spike in cases being the worst for those areas. You are welcome to go back and look for it.
  4. I suppose if they want to have one CFL game with 20,000 people, vast majority wearing masks. No food or drinks, for about an hour or two then sure. Want to do it every week (or numerous times per weekend for the games played in hub cities) with eating and drinking and yelling and cheering? Risk is relatively low here. But I think we'd defer to the experts.
  5. You have a report detailing that the rally this past friday did not cause any spread? And are you basing this on Winnipeg where we have 9 active cases, all of whom surely didnt attend? Sounds scientific.
  6. Thank God we have a poster or two here who are so consumed with the health of the global economy. Now I dont have to worry about it and I can just be concerned about the health of humans.
  7. The players play outdoors. But the crowds gather as close to inside as you can get without a roof. Masks are a lot less effective when you're consuming food and beer too.
  8. And Winnipeg, to bring it home locally, is a shake down crew for police revenue through increased traffic enforcement and photo radar that has zero to do with safety. We all know the amber light bullshit...they artificially make a short light to generate revenue. Thankfully its not costing people their freedom or police record, but its ridiculous and its a slippery slope. Why were cops so upset about weed being legal? Its the easiest way to violate your rights and dig for something they can get on you that they otherwise wouldnt. "I smelled what I thought was weed, did a search and found a small amount of coke...or a knife" Fack off with this crap. Jails get fuller...thats good because the corrections union can press for higher wages and more bodies. Look at our jails over flowing, guess we need more cops! ding ding ding, and its so bad they need to be paid more money too.
  9. For sure, but security isnt making $100,000 a year either. Security responds to prevent violence but the patient is still under the care of people with more training. In fact you make a good case for civilian security with expert oversight by social workers/health experts
  10. Why isnt the KKK listed as a domestic terrorist group?
  11. In the early going, the death rate was much higher than the flu but I suppose the experts could have said "hey, we may have something here that is highly contagious and very deadly and carriers may not even know they have it. Maybe we should wait and see what happens. If 50 million people die then we know to try harder next time." So I agree with you 100%. The fact it may not be as deadly as initially feared is good news not "gotcha" news. I bet a lot of these people believe "all lives matter" except the old and sick when it inconveniences me.
  12. Im no expert on the history of law enforcement but certainly the police have exploded beyond their intended purpose. Even when you look at the movement to decriminalize some drug possession. You have police working highways, pulling over a car for whatever infraction, find weed and now its a felony. Is that really the intended purpose of policing? Union better get a clue here because if Minneapolis actually comes up with a model that eliminates the MPD as we know it and replaces it with something smaller, more efficient and that WORKS, then its going to spread. Throwing more bodies at crime clearly isnt working. And it becomes bloated. Look at Winnipeg where the police are losing how much from their budget due to the suspension of photo enforcement in school zones? Why are they reliant on that money? Its not remotely about safety, its about revenue. A cop needs a high school diploma, starts at $50,000+ and hits $100,000 after 5 years and they all do tons of OT. Compare that to nurses and social workers.
  13. Ive noticed among some "friends" that if they are devout conservatives, it literally doesnt matter what reality is...they will always side with the far right. Im sure its the same for the far left too but thats not the big issue right now.
  14. Lol awesome
  15. Twisting oneself into a pretzel to basically say "its just the flu, should never have closed anything, so what if old people die" is really a poor use of ones time. Especially using hindsight as if it's foresight. Not tagging anyone specific. Just sayin' 😉
  16. For sure. He'll have some scary ads about voting for Biden is a vote for NO POLICE. Its a vote for CHAOS & ANARCHY! Which will be his code words for BLACKS & MUSLIMS! But his rhetoric is all preaching to the choir. As we see with a lot of analysis being done, Trump was able to come back on Hilary because there was a ton of undecided. He swayed people who werent sure. Hilary was never over 50% so she never had anything locked up. I dont see how Trump will sway anyone who isnt already a Trump supporter. Biden's key is making sure the non-trump vote comes to him and doesnt stay home. Movements like we're seeing could go a long way in making people feel apart of something (much like Obama's "change" movement did).
  17. Other than all those US areas that opened up and have spikes in cases that are actually larger than the spikes before the lockdown.
  18. I tried to make this point to my boss about Work From Home. It doesnt have to be a thing we do every 100 years. I believe sick time has been drastically reduced for the reasons of less cold/flus and also parents being home if they have a sick child and honestly, those days you feel like you just cant go in...well, working from home makes it easier. Speaking of Hutterites Im not sure I should be surprised but when I got to the rally it was cool seeing a group of Hutterites there with signs protesting for the cause. It immediately became clear the cross section of people of various ethnicities and cultures that were there.
  19. I agree. But its a sign of the issues coming to a head. People exaggerate. And I think its a legitimate frustration. Its like a negotiation. If you tell the dealership the price you're willing to pay he will counter higher. People saying Ef the Police, get rid of them altogether...they're angry and frustrated. Police have LONG needed reform I interacted with police a lot over the years and it always blew my mind that highly paid officers would sit around for a couple of hours doing witness statements. Seems like an easy thing to off load on civilians trained in note taking/witness questioning or cadets. Winnipeg has (or did) one of the largest per population forces in Canada but Ive seen so many calls where 5 or 6 cars respond and they're all "off line" dealing with something that doesnt require them all. In one case, I heard a call over the ready for a serious incident and for available cars in the area to respond. No one at my incident did. Two minutes later, dispatch specifically called an officer on scene and asked if he and partner could respond and he replied no, busy. The worst thing to happen to police forces was unions. Or at least, modern police forces. Its all about increasing salaries, increasing complement. And if 80% of calls are not traditional law enforcement, what the fack are we paying cops for? Compare a cop with a social worker in terms of education and salary and workload. Compare to nurses. I know many good cops. But police reform as been badly needed for a long time.
  20. Andrew might want to consider a deal. In sure the fbi (especially after Biden wins) will be happy to hear all about trumps ties to Epstein
  21. This is what people generally mean when they say defund the police or reallocate resources. It’s hard to wrap the mind around, get rid of police. But it’s more about employing resources to better deal with the actual issues.
