  1. Tim Diack. You're opinion is not supported by fact. No incumbent has ever lost. As I joked about above, Chipman may have beaten Bowman, but there is little reason to believe any of the current or past city Councillors would.
  2. Im of the same mind. I voted for Bowman last election and was going to vote for him again this election but I find him to be wishy washy and I think he plays it safe. But it was sort of the devil I know scenario for me. I actually did not end up voting for him but had Jenny been polling close enough to win, I probably would have. The city is generally moving in a positive direction. But if I were Bowman, I'd "steal" some of the good ideas his opponents had, like updating the police computers (in fact, I'd be sitting down with Diack to discuss many of the issues he brought forward about safety and law enforcement), Meth treatment facility etc. if Mark Chipman had run, he'd have beaten Bowman. lol
  3. No, you're usual MO is to resort to insults. Im saying you were very emotional about the issue which is why you used reasons unsupported by facts to argue against facts and its that emotion that drives you to try to silence someone expressing a valid position. Its okay to be emotional about issues you are passionate about, but no one insulted you or called you a loser. I dont know if its cowardice or political smarts that drove Bowman to support the Pleb. But he sure didnt want the election to be Bowman vs Jenny on the issue of P&M. That's smart politics but likely indicative of a "concern" (ie. fear) of making that the case.
  4. I disagree. Those fringe candidates had no bearing on the outcome. If they want to reform election rules to make it more difficult to get nominated, perhaps there is merit there (ie. requiring more signatures to get nominated but realistically, just about anyone can qualify although several years ago Ernie Todd, local wrestling promoter, announced he was running for mayor, got media attention and then failed to get the required signatures for his nomination). Jenny had no chance of winning, whether she was likable or not. I actually spoke to her on Monday for some time (she called me about an issue she was told I'd have some knowledge in) and she was very likable. But Winnipeggers hate change. They loath it. And they dont really vote either. Combine those two things and its status quo until the incumbent chooses not to run,.
  5. Its not sour grapes. Its discussing an issue. You mentioned reasons you were against it that were personal to you and not supported by facts. Its quite reasonable to point out how absurd this whole thing was. And its certainly not put to rest given the fact the infrastructure is crumbling.
  6. If I recall, there was enough Council support for the plebiscite to go forward without Bowman's support but he saw the opportunity to cut Jenny off at the knees. Her plan was to make the election about P&M and she'd have likely done even better without the pleb on the ballot. What's next, are we going to vote on which streets get potholes repairs? Or which roads get bike lanes? It was remarkably embarrassing this was even asked on the ballot and I'd feel that way even if "yes" had won.
  7. I don’t believe an incumbent has ever lost. Not much alternative to choose from. And yes hopefully he ignores the “vote” and marches ahead with much needed repairs and renovations of P&M.
  8. Another person Trump has attacked. Could be trump created the list by which the perpetrator chose his victims.
  9. That’s not really true. The arena had very little impact, if any. No one project did. You could argue the return of the Jets had an impact but moreso because the Chipman family continued to develop properties. Its all about getting people downtown And making the area accessible is part of it. Look at east portage the empty lot at P&M. Forks development the stupid part was that we even voted on this really
  10. Hopefully he does. It’s orobably not that hard to manipulate most voters. Once they start tearing down for repair and they actually expose the real costs most Winnipeggers will be opposed to spending money to rebuild barriers. The low voter turnout shows people just didn’t really care over all.
  11. There is no story that indicates it would add 40 minutes to your commute.
  12. There is a chance yes. Apparently Vince is hell bent on going. But that changes slightly over the past few days and they’re waiting for direction from the administration. Cena doesn’t want to go. And that’s a problem. And you can bet many other people don’t want to go either. The word was they would decide today one way or another but the bombs might have pushed that decision off a bit.
  13. That the opposition has to stop their criticism before someone gets hurt when it was democrats who received the Bombs. It’s his words and actions that caused this.
  14. Lol the jets are so bad tonight the announcers are trying to spin Ehlers’ spinning around in a circle repeatedly until losing the puck as “an exciting play”
  15. Trump at a rally tonight is actually painting himself as the victim today. And blaming “mobs” and the media. He’s disgusting.
  16. Nice to see the jets putting on a show for the national audience.
  17. Here is a list of disgusting idiots
  18. Sounds expensive. I find the complaining about wait times sort of amusing. Have we not all waited in traffic at various time all over the city? Im not sure what makes P&M so special in that people just can't possibly wait a few more minutes during the very short window where there is very large traffic volumes.
  19. I think they're pretty well organized, and professional. Especially for a munch of volunteers. I suspect those items you quoted mean average. ie. 54 second average, average of 0-54 (which makes sense if you hit all green lights). Minor wording issue, especially compared to the out and out lies and panic being spread by the vote no people (not all, of course, but some). But the actions of either side didnt compel me to vote either way. The question was not "vote in favour of the people who support either side". I voted based on what I think is best. Thats why I voted Open.
  20. I’d normally say yes but a lot of them are cowards. Now they are openly suggesting the Dems perpetrated these bomb attacks on themselves
