  1. Putting the Laine in Vesalainen (I stole that line)
  2. Does not fill me with confidence. I imagine they'll go with sexual tension between Magnum and Higgins. In the original, the twist was that Magnum suspected Higgins was actually the estate owner (and his boss) Robin Masters which added an interesting dynamic between them. As I recall in the finale, Higgins finally admitted to Magnum that he WAS Robin but in the final scene he said he lied. So it was still open ended.
  3. Brock's weakness is striking. So Ngannou is probably the most dangerous fighter for him as far as getting hurt. I could see him getting knocked the F out. On the other hand, Ngannou is also the better opponent as far as Brock using his wrestling against him. Brock is still a beast but he hates getting hit and at his age, his defense isnt any better. He wont fare well. But UFC needs stars and Brock will still draw for awhile.
  4. Thats a very good point that is often missed. There were rumours a few years ago that True North would raise the roof and add another several rows of seats. But even if this was possible, it would be spending a ton of money to add the cheapest seats. They were very smart in adding those few Loge seats because they are premier seating. I think the arena is fine for what it is.
  5. The difference is, they are paid for, whether every seat is filled or not. Every seat is paid for. the Jets had a brilliant gameplan with their ticket sales, capping the season tickets and creating a wait list. They will never have trouble selling out. I believe every team measures attendance by tickets distributed. For the Jets, those are all paid. If someone doesnt go and their seats are empty, they still paid. For other markets, they distribute free tickets but count them as "sold" which is why you get 12,000 announced when clearly its less than that on TV...far less.
  6. Yeah, it might be IGF was looking at certain major concert events that required that scale. But after going to a sold out GnR, I can tell you IGF is UNSAFE when its that full. They must have a fire marshal on payroll or something.
  7. Jets did not sell out the old arena many, many times.
  8. As I recall, True North's original pitch for the arena was a small one, designed to be a "big" AHL arena. It was Mayor Glen Murray who insisted it had to be 15,000 seats for the city to be involved. And I also recall a plan for the upper deck to flare out over...Hargrave, maybe it was, but the city nixed it. Thats why the seating is so tight. Murray was strongly opposed to the save the jets and the city spending money on an arena. But as Mayor, he was all in for a legacy project. But...we've got demand that outstrips supply which is a good thing. Look at Ottawa where the opposite is true. 15,000 seats is perfect...though having a bit larger seats would be nice.
  9. So the reason Braun is being saved is as a Plan B in case Roman is implicated in using drugs and has to be suspended. Its an interesting story because it seemed pretty shady but its gained a bit of traction just based on the people claiming that Roman ordered steroids and that they will release detailed evidence. Its based on a company called Wellness Fitness Nutrition Inc, owned by Richard Rodriguez who used it to distribute steroids. He got busted. A few weeks ago he said he had sold to many known people including Roman, Josh Duhamel and Mark Wahlberg. Duhamel denied it. Roman denied even knowing who this person was. The story was picked up by a few outlets but didnt get a lot of traction. But an associate of Richard Rodriguez gave an interview where he claimed Roman had ordered large quantities from them for which WWE suspended him in 2016. They imply he continued to order from them. And claim they will release the details soon. If there is any truth to it, and its only drugs prior to Roman's 2016 suspension, WWE will likely do nothing and simply say he served his suspension already. If its after that time and the evidence is compelling, they could be in a bit of a jam so close to WM. Supposedly WWE is doing an internal investigation right now but going ahead with the WM plan unless something changes. WWE's Wellness policy would result in a 60 day suspension for Roman if he gets caught a second time which obviously puts him past WM. But they changed the rules to where they could keep booking guys who are suspended if need be (I dont think they ever kept anyone fully on TV but rather then get rid of them immediately, wrote them off TV to serve their suspension). So they could suspend Roman and keep him working through WM. But if any mainstream outlets pick it up (and I would think because its WM season some would), there would be lots of pressure on them. For starters, explain how you claim to have this incredible wellness program and guys still manage to test clean while using PED's. And they;d likely have to change plans with Roman. The bigger issue is not just letting his serve a 60 day suspension and all is well, their policy requires termination for a 3rd wellness failure. They have a clause (joking called the Orton Clause) where you can earn back your failures over time. It was named after Orton because he kept getting suspended and they were faced with firing a young top guy. There was other trickery with Orton who, by some accounts, had like 4-5 failures and other suspensions. Im not sure how WWE would trust Roman going forward if he's told them he's clean and evidence comes out showing he was buying PED's by the truck load (these guys claim over $100,000 of PEDs being bought by some guys). I might be over thinking this but part of the Braun hold-back might be to end WM on a high note. Roman pinning Brock will get cheered...and then boo'ed (unless this worked shoot successfully gets the fans turned against Lesnar). If you somehow end with an impromptu match of Braun beating Roman (or Brock) for the title, you end on a high note. Originally Braun was to work Miz at WM.
  10. I think players are super talented and if the goalie equipment was smaller and/or the nets larger, you could see it. I used to be against changing the net size because it was "too much" of a change but players are so much bigger on average now that a change to the net wouldnt bother me so much. There was also an idea suggested where just the posts would have an incline into the net or something and the stats were that so many pucks hit the posts that a change like that would result in a lot more goals (ie. post shots would deflect into the net more often).
  11. Jon Jones is the fight they want for Brock Lesnar. If he had managed to get out of this, its almost surely a lock that fight would happen. Brock is "likely" going back to UFC because he can make a boat load of money (not as much as he would against Jones though). But three years ago, this same thing happened where Brock was thought to be going to UFC for sure and UFC made him an offer that exceeded WWE's offer significantly but at the 11th hour, Brock opted to stick with WWE, got a raise to sign a new deal. He said he did a mini camp and just didnt have the desire needed. Of course, he found the desire for the Mark Hunt fight and made a ton of money (with WWE allowing him to do it). I believe he would have six months left on a suspension (or has to test clean for six months once he re-enters the testing pool). He is not tested in WWE and usually around big matches like WM, he looks enormously jacked. At RR I thought he looked big but not as defined so there is speculation he might be back in the testing pool. His contract expires at WM (or the night after) but WWE holds some rights on him til August. It would make sense for a fall fight. Cain Velasquez, Stipe Miocic or Francis Ngannou are all big money fights for him. I suspect he'd lose them all. He's 41. But its business and its about making money.
  12. That year was my first hockey pool with some friends and I was a big Selanne fan. I took him pretty early and everyone laughed at picking the "unheard" of rookie so high. I also had Mario Lemieux, Pat Lafontaine...I think Turgeon. I won it quite easily. Selanne was unreal. When he broke the record, if I recall he scored 4 goals that game (or 3 that game and 4 the previous). It was unreal that he was like 7 goals away and beat it two games later. Of course, he was an over-age rookie because he had to do required military service in Finland. Also remember that he entered the NHL as a Restricted Free Agent and Calgary signed him to an offer sheet which the Jets matched. They should have Teemu night every season.
  13. “Mooch”. It’s what he calls himself. He’s on the list. But probably angling for a return.
  14. To be fair some sources say it was the Porter situation that had her thinking of leaving and that would certainly be understandable. She was questioned by Mueller in early December, for what its worth.
