  1. I dont think his name was mentioned. It was based on the real person Thomas Garth and in novels was called Kelvar Garth. I guess if he was left off the list its simply because he wasnt as decorated. He was known as an explorer so while that might be legendary, it might not earn him the medals. His boasts to Kirk about being a great military tactician could just be boasting. He was also nuts. So perhaps his "decorations" were revoked.
  2. yeah, I dont think its ever been canonized when the Battle of Axanar took place, which is one of the things Garth was most known for. So its possible he hadnt been highly decorated yet. Although didnt Kirk say Garth's exploits were required reading at the academy, which would imply when HE (Kirk) was at the academy and at the time of Discovery Kirk would be graduated. Then again, it was also never established, I dont think, that Garth was a last name. It would make sense to be but perhaps his name was Garth Zulu and Saru didnt get to the second page (it went alphabetical and stopped at "P", when Saru cut off the computer. Or, Garth was good, but not more highly decorated than those shows.
  3. Raine Wilson was great as Harry Mudd. When Saru asked the computer to display the most decorated Captains, it listed Robert April, Jonthan Archer, Philippa Georgieou, Matt Decker and Chris Pike. This "canonizes" Robert April for the first time (first Captain of the Enterprise). April had previously appeared in The Animated Series and in the comic prequel to STID (both pseudo-canon).
  4. There is a great theory going around about something (and someone) from this episode. Ill spoiler tag it in case people want to go in cold because it MIGHT be a spoiler:
  5. I hope Connor is great so that when Pereault comes back, Connor stays up and we can have a 3rd line that is actually a good 3rd line and not a better 4th line.
  6. Fleury on IR with a concussion though. Subban being claimed could work out for both him and the team.
  7. "Choose Your Pain" was the best episode of Discovery so far. Really hitting its stride.
  8. I fondly remember going to Bonanza on Pembina because the Sundae's were do it yourself.
  9. How times change. Good for her and Prince Harry.
  10. Being on 205Live and main enentkng RAW multiple times. He lost the title because the original plan of beating Neville fell through so vince wanted to jazz up the segment. He’ll get it back. Ideally every top guy is great in the ring, great in the mic and has tons of charisma. But it’s probably more rare than likely. Hogan worked the easiest matches ever when he was the biggest star in the world. Conversely Flair did have all three when he was the #2 guy in the world. Enzo is nothing in the ring. I agree. But they’d be silly not to milk what he has for as long as they can.
  11. I finally began watching Ozark. About halfway done. Like it very much.
  12. Helle looks great. He spent the summer with a goalie coach working on things. Maybe the jets should hire that guy.
  13. Why’s Lowry scratched? Did I miss an injury?
  14. Im sorry for going off topic but let me say I love these films. If people havent seen them, they should: Airport (starring Dean Martin, George Kennedy, Burt Lancaster, Jacqueline Bissett): The film is about an airport manager trying to keep his airport open during a snowstorm, while a suicidal bomber plots to blow up a Boeing 707 airliner in flight. It takes place at fictional Lincoln International Airport near Chicago, Illinois. Airport 75:(Starring Charlton Heston, Erika Estrada, George Kennedy, Sid Caesar, Linda Blair, Karen Black): The plot concerns the dramatic events aboard an airborne Boeing 747 when a small aircraft crashes into the cockpit causing the fatalities of senior crew and the blinding of the pilot with no one aboard qualified to take the controls. The one I remember the most as a kid: Airport 77 (Starring George Kennedy, Jack Lemmon, Christopher Lee, Lee Grant, James Stewart) The plot concerns a private Boeing 747 packed with V.I.Ps and priceless art that is hijacked before crashing into the ocean in the Bermuda Triangle, prompting the survivors to undertake a desperate struggle for survival.[3][4] There was also Airport Concord where Kennedy is now a pilot (promoted from maintenance worker) but it wasnt very good.
  15. good article. With some great historic photos
  16. Good one! The Airport movies are on Netflix? I bought the Blu Ray a couple of years ago. LOVE those films. Scared the hell out of me as a child and made me afraid to fly. I miss the old 70's style movies with the sappy relationships and drama. They made you care about the characters.
  17. Denise Robertson, 46, who has gone to court in an attempt win what she believes is her share of the massive jackpot her longtime live-in boyfriend, Maurice Thibeault, won Sept. 20 – before moving out without telling her about it. They were common-law. Thus, she deserves a cut. His actions in keeping in quiet and moving out without telling her could be construed as a conscious acknowledgement that she was entitled to half. He's going to lose this one. And I think he should. If the roles were reversed, he'd feel the same way. Split it with her and be done with it. Why give your money to lawyers?
  18. To be fair, didnt the Edmonton guy have an ISIS flag? If Im not confusing that with someone else...that immediately raises the spectre of terrorism as a motivation. People argued the semantics of terrorism when it concerns Las Vegas. But using the definition of a political motivation, we dont know...because we dont know his motivations yet. And if you ask 1000 random people to describe terrorism, they would subscribe that label to Islamic Extremism. Its become the norm to use that description there, rightly or wrongly.
  19. Id like to see your evidence to back this up. Of the polls I've seen, it absolutely is a minority. Your last sentence makes little sense. Canada is pretty "free"...no armed populace.
