  1. Right off Petan? Nah. He has value. He's young with talent and is a restricted so he automatically has value. Jets could hold onto him too long but I'd suspect if they made it known he was available, there are plenty of teams that would look at him and think they can make him a top six guy.
  2. Yes, both Fleury and the other guy were hurt. Fleury became healthy and played again. But Murray was better. He earned the job on equal footing. But sure, thats one example sort of.
  3. You've seen a lot of veterans get hurt and then become healthy scratches when they are healthy and their spot taken by rookies?
  4. Coach doesnt say that. Coach just does that. Regarding making his partners better, the point being a responsible, even conservative D-man playing his role makes it easier for everyone else to play theirs than a roving, unpredictable, often-lazy D man. That forces people to have to cover and guess. Im not burying Buff. Just making an observation.
  5. That sort of eliminates an awful lot of people that analyze and cover sports for a living. Maybe I wasnt paying close enough attention. But I "forgot" it was a dreaded female voice after about five minutes and enjoyed her insight. But, when it comes to a female talent pool for that role, you're working with a small group to choose from. Someone has to take the plunge so good for them for doing it. Its important to do it. And in time, it wont even be something we talk about (and the talent will increase too).
  6. Im very intrigued by what they do with Buff. Maurice had indicated before the Oilers game that if Poolman played it was due to someone being scratched for "health and poor play". So he's essentially called Buff out now. If Buff is healthy, does he get back in? Do they use the "injury" as an excuse to keep him scratched a bit longer? Big Show guys were arguing about this and, I think Toth, said "So Poolman is Buff's replacement?: (said it sort of incredulously). My response would be, no, Trouba is Buff's replacement and Poolman comes in at 3RHD and the D is more balanced. Didnt Poolman play with Kulikov who also had his best game as a Jet? So Poolman plays a sound game and makes his partner better. How do you sit him down? I know veterans dont lose their spot due to injury but...
  7. I agree. Buff is a great talent, very unique. I said many times his value would be in a team competing for the cup. But the ins and outs of an 82 game schedule with a team that struggles just wouldnt interest him on a day to day basis. It has to mess with his team mates though. Even if it doesnt bother them personally, when he plays his lazy "bad Buff" ways, it has to screw with the others' focus on defensive systems. If there was a connection between Buff and Trouba, whether it was ice time, money or just the idea of being the defensive Captain, I'd endorse trading Buff and giving his money to Trouba on an 8 year deal. You're still going to get a big return for Buff. if Vegas had cap space, he's look great there, though I doubt he'd waive his NTC to go there. Jets are unlikely to trade him though. So, what happens if he's pushed down to 3RHD and plays 12-15 minutes a game. Does he become a distraction? Does he then request a trade? Does he play great and try to work his way back to 1RHD?
  8. I like Matthias. he works hard and generates chances. Sure, he rarely scores but if he's getting chances it means the play is going the right way. Good 4th liner. Tanev played well too. maybe he finally rises to the occasion. Whats the deal with Petan. Should he be trade bait? Can he create chances if given better line mates?
  9. I was thinking about this this morning. I agree and I think that is the plan. They signed Mason to a two year deal. So I think Mason knows he's basically a hired hand to come in and mentor Helle and bring some stability to the team. Worse case scenario, Mason is great and Helle never puts it together and in two years the Jets have first crack at Mason. But best case scenario and the one I think everyone involves believes to be the case, Helle puts it together and Mason does what is expected and earns himself the leverage to get a big money, long term deal somewhere else. And it becomes the Helle/Comrie show here. Supposedly Mason and Helle are pretty tight and immediately spent time together to discuss the situation. I can only believe they were honest with how they see it going here. The issue last year in my opinion was not that Helle sucked. it was that he wasn't ready to play starter's minutes as much as he did. And the bigger issue was the back up couldn't take the work load off him. Had Hutch been average, it likely had a positive impact on Helle as well. Surely Mason will be at least average. In one game (and a bit), Helle looks much improved from last year. Fingers crossed. In bigger news, the talk of twitter is how we are better without Buff.
  10. Boy oh boy. That looks great. Shades of Empire with Rey being tempted.... Mark Hamill looks amazing.
  11. It might be they believed their own hype and felt it would be easier than it was. Need to work hard. Glad to see Helle play well and Poolman
  12. Interestingly Maurice said it Poolman played it would be replacing someone due to a combination of health and poor play. Can we assume by game three Buff has been sat down for poor play? If so that’s a big change from years past
  13. Surely the issue is which of Dano or Armia is playing. Once we figure out the correct combination of Dano and armia we will be cup contenders.
  14. What spinning saucers did they have in TNG? Why would we think they can’t spin a saucer? They clearly said this ship was built to strict specifications for the spore drive. Visuals are updated. It’s fine.
  15. Jets win. Helle stands on head. Fans take deep breath but problems persist. We will be up and down just long enough to lose the season before making any changes.
  16. New Justice League trailer also, Star Wars trailer releases during monday night football tomorrow.
  17. The transition from old guard to new guard might be too slow.
