  1. Of course its definitely too early to tell on the draft. The Jets, to me, made picks that were high risk/high reward. So they trust their scouting that the guys they chose have the opportunity to achieve their potential. Vesa could be an Armia. he could be Laine-lite. Samburg is another with very high potential. Saw scouting reports that had his ceiling as a top 2-top 4 D man. Kova, another guy who could end up a solid NHl d-man. Santeri was said to drop based on being hurt all year. Could end up a steal. All four of those guys could be busts. Who knows. But it seemed to me the Jets are very comfortable with their current team, their developing players and, trusting their scouting, chose to perhaps gamble a bit on players that are less guarantees but have potential high value. If one or two of those guys hits their potential for the Jets, its a win. Regardless, the team has enough developing depth right now to provide time for these players to develop. We'll see what 2-4 years looks like in judging the 2017 draft. Regarding Connor, seemed clear he couldnt play at the NHL level last year to the extent he would want. And by the end of the season, he was too good for the Moose. Hopefully he comes in a bit bigger and stronger and with confidence. Could start out on the Jets 3rd line. And do well.
  2. I believe he praised his goaltending coach as well.
  3. I replied to posts before I saw rich's. Those posts quoted me so I replied. Tje thing is we all have opinions but the people who get paid a lot of money think Toby is valuable so who are we to argue. If jets could replace him so be it. But losing Toby means looking for 2 d. Mans as remarkable as rookie morrissey was I'm not sure we can etch in stone that he continues that level. Hopefully but you never know. To me the bottom line is jets lost no one. Kept their roster entact and got a highly touted first round pick. Draft is often a crap shoot. I think we did well.
  4. Is it the bowling lane is 35 with current owners and building is 50?
  5. And if our pick ends up the better player?
  6. You're making a connection between two different things that aren't really that connected. No one knows of Foote will be better than the player we got. Check back in 5 years. The first draft you probably were Hot chevy didn't pick couturier if toby chose not to waive. Then jets lose Myers or perreault or Lowry. Whether you agree or not, the jets valued those players higher then the crapshoot that is the difference between 13 and 24. And they still got a player ranked by many in the top ten. At 24 there were still highly touted D available. They didn't take one. They wanted this player. If the jets had let Toby go then it doesn't matter if Foote is a great D in 5 years. Because we'd be worse off this year. You're making dubious connections I'm afraid. Jets had a great week.
  7. Have some great memories. I wonder what the landlord wants to do with the building. Condos?
  8. I like your post although I disagree about Toby. I think he's a decent 3-4 with a poor contract but its his last year. jets look a lot worse had he been selected. And they did the right thing bu keeping him since he did them the favour of waiving. And in the end, the Jets got the guy they seemingly wanted, kept all their players and Toby remained a Jet. Where's the bad news? lol There is none!
  9. I don't think Hamonic is over-rated. I think he's a solid top 4 D. But he's RHD. If he played the left side then our top 6 suddenly looks a lot better. Jets didn't get beat out, they weren't in the conversation. They didn't want him. I don't think Jets management is infallible but I do think they have a lot more info than we do so Ill assume there is a reason they didn't want him. If people are still complaining that Chevy made an error in trading down to 24, they really are barking up the wrong tree. Not only were several guys taken out of their predicted order but Chevy strongly hinted this was the guy they wanted anyway. If they got, at 24, the guy they wanted at 13, then bully for them. This wasn't a matter of losing Toby and getting Foote in 3 years. If they want Foote that bad, they can go out and get him. If Toby doesn't waive, Jets lose Myers or Perreault/Lowry. As it is, before the expansion draft, half the people here thought it was a good move to lose Dano and a 3rd. Jets lost NO ONE and kept a first round pick and chose a player they really wanted. I don't know what else Chevy could have done in both drafts this week. He's done very well. Addressing goaltending and LHD depth is something to be done via trade or Free Agency. Jets can't draft a veteran back up or a veteran top 6 D. So why are people getting knotted panties about keeping our most experienced LHD?
  10. I found it snarky. But I suppose I should not post my opinion, is that what you're saying? Perhaps you missed all the discussion about this with this particular poster where several people tried to correct him, not on opinion, but on fact. Having the opinion that Cal Foote would make the Jets D better this year especially if it meant losing Toby is not an opinion, Its lunacy.
  11. *sigh* Chevy hinted that they had the Finnish kid at 13th anyway. Many draft ranking had him in the top ten. Its always smart to go BPA. Jets didn't give up top d prospects for Toby. Please review the thread where this was all explained. It sounds like the Jets lost ZERO players to Vegas, retained a first round pick (other teams didn't) and got the player the wanted. Then they drafted a big LHD in the second round that many are calling a great pick. Gee, what did Chevy do today...
  12. You're original snarky post was about Cal Foote and how we should have taken him rather then stand pat with out current D corp. If you think Cal Foote was making a difference for the Jets this season you should retire from hockey fandomimmediately. This has been explained to you numerous time and you refuse to understand it. Jets did VERY well this week. They lost ZERO players and took a guy who is considered by many to be a top ten pick at 24. Chevy alluded to having this kid in their 13th area anyway. So please stop being a contrarian for the sake of being a contrarian.
  13. One has nothing to do with the other.
  14. Jets did well this week. Very well. Let's hope it continues next week.
