  1. Do people really need to leave between periods to smoke? Not to pile on smokers but Im surprised to learn that even smokers, in this day and age, cant go that long without lighting up. Sensible policy.
  2. His stats are good when healthy. The key is keeping him healthy.
  3. He says in that linked story that its highly unlikely. He just observed instances of similarities. Any other conclusion from that is fear-mongering. Trump is already seen as a nut by many of his own party. They wouldnt let it happen.
  4. He talks UFC occasionally but you can tell he's not that knowledgeable. He liked wrestling but usually when he's talking about it Im yelling at my radio. CALL ME, HUS!
  5. I support that. Can we get him to move to Winnipeg?
  6. Hockey related (and local hockey related): John Paddock, former HC and GM of the Winnipeg Jets. Good to see him doing well. He attended the same Church as my family and was always very nice.
  7. Dano is easier to replace than Lowry but if its a choice between those two and Perrault, I still think Jets leave Perreault unprotected and either make a deal with Vegas to choose Dano or they lose Perreault. They like Lowry too much.
  8. To be honest, I dont visit the storm drains and the street people never bothered me.
  9. Ill disagree. And here's why. Lawless never ran off half-cocked. The key to appreciating him is reading between the lines. And was very insightful with analysis. And while Hustler is great, he's not a journalist or insider. And he's a fan. Gary was not from Winnipeg and he repeatedly said he was not looking at things like a fan. He'd play devil's advocate a lot. very entertaining. H&L was always better when Gary was on. He will be missed a lot. So how does TSN replace him (both as the Winnipeg correspondent and on 1290)? Reassign someone from somewhere else? Bump up or offer the gig to someone locally?
  10. A lot of Lawless-haters are going to really miss him and his insight. Must have been a heck of a deal though. He had to be very well compensated here and being one of the prime guys on TSN? And basically the media king of Winnipeg? Vegas must have offered him a ton of cash and a lot of benefits. Good for him. Quite a meteoric ride over the last few years. And Vegas is awesome.
  11. A lot of people who didnt think they would miss Lawless' input is going to miss it. Must have been a heck of a deal to leave TSN. He had to be well-compensated for everything he did. But living in Vegas sounds amazing! CFL Insider Gary Lawless leaving TSN According to the club, Lawless will serve as the Vegas Golden Knights “insider.” In this role, Lawless will author in-depth breaking news stories, columns, features, event recaps and player/staff profiles on vegasgoldenknights.com and will serve as the team’s lead on-camera reporter, filing daily video recaps from Golden Knights practices, games, events and press conferences. Lawless spent the last 18 years in Winnipeg as both a newspaper and radio personality and wrote extensively about the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. Originally from Peterborough, Lawless was also the public relations director of the Toronto Argonauts in the mid-1990s. TSN moved Lawless into a CFL Insider role in September 2015 when he joined the network full-time.
  12. Very careless. Also kicked Daniel Bryan in the head and now he cant wrestle. Jeff seemed to take it all in stride. He should have probably kicked the hell out Sheamus in the back.
  13. ^^^ I pulled my old jean jacket out of the closet the other day, the one I wore from age 17-20something. I tried it on. Didnt fit so well. I looked in the mirror and said "Im going to wear this ******* jacket and its going to look great." There's one goal...lol
  14. My busted knee really slowed me down too. Being heavy doesnt help. Those that are into Yoga, my gf is actually an instructor. She does customized programs in your own home. PM me if interested. She just became certified in Thai Massage as well (sort of related to Yoga) and has been working with me and I've found quite an improvement in my flexibility. If you are a dog lover, she also does Dog Yoga :-)
  15. Yes, true. But there are ways to do that more efficiently. A couple of sites Im addicted to right now are dietdoctor.com and eatthebutter.com Both go into detail about the low carb plan where good fat is good. Many others too, but it becomes a whirlwind so I've been going back to those two (especially the first one). The reality is, if you're hungry all the time you will "cheat". Like others say, its a lifestyle choice which can be hard if you have 30 or 40 years of one lifestyle. dietdoctor states if you're hungry you're doing their plan wrong.
  16. Absolutely. Thats what Im working on right now. That seems very strict. the "bulletproof coffee", with the butter is always on the "good list" but bacon & eggs is also recommended breakfast. I actually ate an omelet this morning (i usually skip breakfast) with spinach, onions and cheese and Im still stuffed nearly 4 hours later. I also like black coffee so I dont need the butter in it. There are people who say the low carbs/"high" fat program doesnt work. But I mean, opinion will always vary on everything. When you dig down into the science of it, its hard to not think its worth trying. The issues I see with it would be in "cheating" especially unconscious cheating where you think you're adhering to no/low carbs but you're not while still eating lots of fat. And then hitting a goal and going on a binge. But the fact you can eat fats that are tasty like butter and cheese and beef, bacon etc, whats not to like!
  17. Yup. Thats a big one. Ask anyone who is unhealthy and tries a get fit plan, I bet they are doing the "eat as many fruits and veggies as you want" thing. But for most of us, fruit tastes way better then veggies so we'd end up eating a lot more fruit. I see it described a lot as "Nature's Candy". Avoid! Of course there are some better than others. Many berries (Raspberries, Strawberries, blueberries) are considered the more acceptable fruit and have other nutritional properties. Blueberries and Acai, I've read amazing things about.
  18. Im seeing alot about eating "good fats". Butter etc. And how its perfectly good for you. But we've been trained to go no fat or low fat like you said. My main stapes have been pizza, spaghetti, lasagna, burgers. When I would eat healthy it was potatoes, rice etc. So obviously doing it all wrong. Glad to be hearing others reinforcing some of the information Ive been taking in. Going low carbs...
  19. This was something new to me. I saw a graphic on twitter actually that jumped out at me showing exactly this. I was doing the opposite. Also, before I moved, I had the treadmill set up and for a time would wake up 30 minutes early and use it. It helped wake me up and I noticed results immediately. Ill have to dig it out of the garage...lol Its really hard to find information, especially if you dont have a basis for knowledge. The "lobby" is everywhere. Drink milk etc. One study I read recently showed how obesity spiked in the US after they issued their food pyramid. A healthy breakfast, by traditional means, would be loaded with carbs. Those of us around my age or older probably remember in elementary school being taught that food pyramid. I dont know. Its hard. We'll see what happens with me. Fingers crossed ;-)
  20. His "grab her" remarks almost had Pence and others diving overboard so an attempt to seize power wouldnt work. Other Republicans wouldn't allow it. Pence and the cabinet would remove him. Failing that, Congress would. I see no way it could happen in the US. Despite ego and selfishness, too many congressmen would not disregard the Constitution.
  21. Boardwalk is really really good. Amazing sets and visuals. They re-built the Jersey Boardwalk to film on and its really remarkable. Im not even a huge fan of Steve Buscemi and it might be an example of a show where the supporting actors were better than the lead. There was thought given to pitching the lead to James Galdolfini as the real person the lead was based on was more like James than Buscemi but they knew all anyone would see would be Tony Soprano. Winters said he had an idea to bring Gandolfini into the show in later seasons but he sadly died. Really good. There is one character everyone says cant act but he plays his part well (similar to Charlie Hunam actually). So yes, highly recommended.
  22. That's awesome. Congrats on your progress! Im trying to go very minimal carbs. Just started (lol). Its hard. Im usually a guy that skips breakfast, often skips lunch and then gorges for dinner. I also have a job where I sit on my ass. I used to work a 1-9 shift and was better shape because I'd get up earlier and thus was more active, often had "lunch" etc. Working 8-4 and being a night owl has been hard on me. The idea that you can eat fat and red meat if you cut carbs and will be successful is counter-intuitive to everything we've been told. But everywhere I look seems to be saying the same thing.
  23. SOA had some good actors. The lead, for me, was the weakest guy and unfortunately had to carry much of the load. I dont dislike him and Im sure he's gotten better. But I found him to have very limited range. Which season did they go to Ireland, the 2nd? That was an awful season. Both shows suffered a bit after they paid off their main story which for Sopranos was really after Junior tries to take out Tony. That first season is the most structured. And for SOA, once the gf bit the dust it sort of got away from them a bit. One thing that did always bug me about the Sopranos was the small size of Tony's crew. It was used as a plot point from time to time (Chris always wanting to go to war with New York and Tony telling him they couldnt). But by the time the 6th season roles around you really have such a limited crew it really almost makes no sense for New York to be willing to negotiate. Plus all the rats. But that was Chase feeling that all mobsters are irredeemable and either horrible people or rats or both. He established early that you either go to jail or die. And good for him, I guess, for being committed to his vision but had he taken a more popular approach to the series and delivered what fans wanted, maybe it would have been a bit more enjoyable at the end rather then the rushed and emotionally deflated last few episodes. There was a scene in Season 6 where Meadow is accosted by a New York guy. And she's telling her mom when Tony walks in and he asks whats wrong and initially Meadow says nothing. And I remember thinking 'wow they're not going to let tony find out'...but then she told him. And it was really a moment that fans wanted to see Tony act in an heroic manner. As I said before if you watch Boardwalk Empire it has so many similar themes to Sopranos but "goes there". The wife is more openly complicit. The "cousin" more openly turns on his mentor. The old school guy and the current boss have a more overt "war". There is actually a super violent war with New York. There is a "heroic" badass scene where the quiet misunderstood bad guy goes full scarface and saves a child. Really good series.
