  1. How stupid is united. Really. They even released a statement apologizing for being over booked, no mention of attacking and dragging away a passenger
  2. Wont be too hard. Toby will know he's over-paid at current salary. Both sides will have comparables and meet in the middle. if Toby doesnt want to extend, so be it. He can go play somewhere else in a year. Point is, if he DOES want to extend here, then they will get a deal done. Does his NMC run to the end of his deal? It would be a shame if we didnt even reserve the option to trade him at the deadline, though possibly he'd waive to go to a contender if the Jets were not playoff-bound.
  3. Either way he is getting less. I dont think he's going to be a target for Vegas. So I'd go to Vegas and make a deal to not pick him. Jets cant re-sign him until; July 1st anyway so its after the draft. For Vegas, if Toby is available they get an expensive player for one year. they might see him as an asset to trade though. But they'd probably prefer someone younger with term. So Jets made a deal not to take him. Jets go to Toby and say they have made a deal so Toby wont be picked by Vegas. In return for waiving, here is a contract to sign on July 1st that extends him 3 years (maybe 4) for whatever fair market value is. If Toby likes it here, a guaranteed contract is desirable. If there is a deal not to be picked by Vegas, he loses nothing in waiving his NMC and gains that guaranteed extension.
  4. There is no rush in moving him. I'd keep him and look for a potential deadline deal although hopefully he has more value to the Jets playoff run next season. But if they need to trade him now for expansion purposes, so be it. Im fine with keeping him. One way they might convince him to waive is NMC is to also offer him a new deal.
  5. If you had a radio show and TSN gig you wouldn't know more than Lawless. People downplay because he's not an unabashed homer. When people hear what they dont like, they attack the source. Lawless is, by far, the most connected sports guy in Manitoba. Whether he can analyze the minutia of hockey is moot, really. If there is major news in Manitoba sports, he's the go-to guy. And one great thing about him is, if he doesnt have the coverage he will gladly point you to who does. He's a great asset. And I couldn't stand him early on. But there is no denying facts. Hustler is obviously a big hockey fan but more emotional than Lawless. Sometimes Hustler changes Lawless' mind but usually what happens is Lawless ends up pushing a perspective Hustler didnt consider because Lawless isnt from here and isnt emotional about the Jets and Bombers.
  6. They all over-sell but they usually have some sort of data that tells them how much they can over-sell. But physically removing passengers while everyone records it is a PR disaster. Especially after "tightsgate" a couple weeks ago when they denied boarding to a couple of young girls for wearing rights and their Twitter argued with people over it.
  7. United needs a lesson in PR. Their latest boner: http://www.winnipegsun.com/2017/04/10/united-airlines-passenger-bloodied-apparently-dazed-after-being-forcibly-removed-from-flight-to-louisville-oh-my-god I was on an Air Canada flight from...I cant remember, it might have been Quebec City. At the airport and they asked for volunteers to take a later flight which was something like 2-3 hours later. They wanted two volunteers. No one stepped up. They delayed and basically said they werent leaving until they found two people willing to take the later flight. They made an offer, I dont recall what it was but something like $200 each. So a guy went up and said he was in a party of 3 and would take the deal if they gave it to the three of them and Air Canada declined. Finally, they bumped two people. Oddly, the plane wasnt even half full and they were very specific about spreading the weight of the passengers around lol But to me, United over sold. You keep raising your offer until you find people willing to take a later flight. Its that simple. Now this guy is going to sue and it will cost United way more.
  8. i wonder if his remarks about goaltending will have an impact. Like, do his teammates just see it as being honest or do they see it as burying a teammate? I didn't think it was a big deal. But Westwood, a former pro athlete, says it was terrible. Then again the Jets kept Kane for years when he was a locker room disturbance. And perreault has been terrific. Hard to imagine losing him for nothing.
  9. I also doubt Darling or Fleury end up here. I think Jets will look for an average veteran back up. Sort of a Montoya type. Someone they think can play 25 games and not suck.
  10. 5,6,6,6,6.5,7,7,8. 8 years. $6.4 average. Maybe have to go a bit higher based on what Buff is getting
  11. Would be great to get Troubadour under contract for 8 years. Would 6X8 get it done?
  12. I agree. They really show themselves in the foot. It was obvious Seth could be a big face before the injury because his work was really "face" with all of the athleticism. He was probably the best they had until the injury. Then they made that heartfelt video about his rehab and return. Of course he was going to be cheered. I don't know what their deal was. I think it was that they didn't want to undercut Romans push and they had a plan to turn him for Hunter but not til later. It was very stupid. And his wm match did nothing for him either. Honestly I'd have turned him heel again just to heat him back up. When he teamed with Balor....end the show wirh in super kicking Finn. I could see him going to SD though.
  13. Stephanie actually admitted it was all image. She caused some raised eyebrows when she tweeted about charity being the way brands win. Ie PR etc. Rehardless WWE does great work with charities. But their culture is very passé. Many other businesses would have been sued to oblivion. Regarding Seth, agree and disagree. He's a former world champion. So wasted? Well he was on fire until his injury. And then the booking totally cut his balls off. Bad booking strikes again. Early word is Styles going to RAW. Roman was to go to SD but now that's apparently not happening.
  14. Whatever team faces the leafs is my new favourite team. I hate Toronto.
  15. Meh. Fleury is a good goalie. Would probably have made the playoffs with him, Stats aside. Id go for Darling first but I wouldn't be upset at Fleury. I would have made that trade.
  16. Jets missed by 7 points. So does Fleury get them 3 more wins and one more OT? Probably.
  17. It had been revealed last year that the Stadium needed extensive work done due to leaking and pooling water. Apparently ripping up all the concourses and redoing them etc. I believe (memory, didn't re-read) that there ws a $35mm loan for this work. Media asked Triple B (company that "owns" and runs IGF) to explain the work being done and cost. Triple B promised to get the info and arrange a tour then the guy went out of town and passed it on to a co worker who knew nothing about it. Basically, dodging answering the questions. Freep framed it as a public funded building so why are they being so evasive about things?
  18. Two ways of looking at it. If Chevy realizes in December that jets are playing poor goaltending and D and Fleury can make what needed to be a fairly small improvement to get us into the playoffs, then consider it as a 2nd round pick in exchange for playoffs. Secondly you'd still have the asset so if you want to trade Fleury or Helle or make a deal with Vegas to skip them so be it.
