  1. Thats interesting. Would be nice if they explained in more detail. Moving the loge seating forward?
  2. If playing in the Olympics is enough to lure any NHL free agents away from the NHL, then so be it. I dont see too many doing that...but that's fair game for sure. I hope it gets worked out but players like Ovi saying he's going either way doesnt help the cause of the players. He isn't going unless its sanctioned by the NHL or he doesnt have an NHL contract. If a fine and suspension is worth it to him, then the PA can get together and offer the league a cash incentive to do it. Extending the CBA is sort of a no-brainer to me. Right now there are two Olympic games within the current CBA length, which expires in spring 2022. Both sides have an opt out in 2020. Assuming the NHL's offer to extend for three years would mean expiry in 2025 and keep the opt out to 2023, that still works to the player's favour. Because they'd be able to opt out after playing two Olympics and then they can get Olympic participation in the next CBA. If they dont go to South Korea, we all assume the NHL will go to China but they can still use that as leverage against the players. Now we assume the players will opt out of the CBA in 2020 so to the players its a moot point. But the owners wont be overly agreeable to concessions the players want under this situation. The players might hate the CBA but most players dont understand it and are fueled by agents who tell them they deserve more. In the end, they always settle because they are already treated fairly and the owners are more easily united and able to hold out then the entire PA. If Im a player, I'd accept the owners' offer on its face as I see no issue with it. But the fact the owners made an offer means they are willing to negotiate. I'd ask for an agreement to go to both Korea and China and I'd offer up a willingness to concede days off and start the season earlier those years. I'd then agree to waive the opt out which is in essence a two year extension. But its not really since it was a ten year deal anyway so the players dont lose anything. Owners get two more years of labour happiness and dont have to screw their own willingness to go to China.
  3. The media did the Bombers no favours that first year as they hunted down the negative stories to blow up. Traffic is a lot better now. Significantly better in fact. I live in the area and it was a no-go zone that first year. Now, its barely an issue to drive the area before/after a game. The rapid transit station will help too. But that doesnt change the original issue of who's paying to put buses there.
  4. I've also noticed less people parking along Pembina so more are using the buses. What's the average cost for parking, itsnt it $10 or so? If people are paying that, they would likely pay $10 for Park & Ride which is, in many ways, more convenient.
  5. Okay, so the transit aspect is not the issue? If Park & Ride experiences a shortfall then the answer is to increase the charge for it. $5 is a nice number but ya gotta pay. Hell, coming out of a game sometimes, I'd pay $5 just to get a ride to my car at Pembina, let alone to the Park & Ride location. I dont think $10 is outrageous. Perhaps they can find other ways to minimize the cost to fans (sponsors). The MPI aspect is, Im sure I recall when the transportation plan was announced that they also announced MPI had come on board as a sponsor specific to helping cover the costs of the plan. Which, ofcourse, they shouldn't be doing anyway, but that's another debate.
  6. Maybe Im confused. Park & Ride is operated by the Bombers, no? And they charge $5 round trip. So is the loss the Bombers' experience directly related to the Park & Ride costs? Or is it the subsidy the Bombers are paying Transit to run extra transit service around the games?
  7. Yes but my point is, if the Bombers didnt pay, what happens? The city runs regular service? I think the city and transit would get as many complaints as the Bombers would. I like being shuttled around but I'd pay for the service if Im using it. Fans should pay more for it.
  8. Im sort of playing devil's advocate a but Im not sure how its the Bombers' responsibility to help pay the costs of transit. If there was no increased transit service for the games, people would complain. That's a Transit (and City) issue, not a Bombers issue. Does True North pay to have extra buses available after Jets and concerts? I know its not as many, but Im curious as to whether its the norm for the business running the event to pay for increased transit costs. And I thought MPIC came on as a "sponsor" to pay this subsidy which is in essence another taxpayer payment anyway since MPIC shouldnt be sponsoring these things.
  9. When there is a special event in the city that requires extra busses/drivers etc, does Transit raise the rate? Do they simply run their regular service level and to heck with the people? Legit wondering. Because is it not the responsibility of transit to provide the service to the levels required? Let people pay the regular rate. Its easier now with the cards too. Bombers could even sell Bombers branded transit cards.
  10. Its still not overly truthful. I get it but... I dont celebrate my windfall every paycheque without considering my mortgage payment. So $5 for Park and Ride per person doesnt cover the cost of transit?? Thats more than actual transit, isnt it? What are the Bombers subsidizing? What expenses are there above what the $5 covers? If they are covering costs for increased "regular" transit services, I dont think they should. Fans should pay. If I go to a concert at the arena and I bus, I pay. Transit routinely alerts their services for spikes in riders, do they not? They should provide the level of service required and charge for it.
  11. His security clearance has not been changed though. He maintains the highest possible clearance so its not like he wont be pulling strings.. Talk is someone else (I cant remember, new NSA?) demanded it under threat of resignation and they couldnt have that. Hard to imagine this is just the first 100+ days. Everything that has happened. Truly remarkable. The movies that get made and books that get written years down the road will be really fascinating. Imagine all the stuff we DON'T know that is happening. Who should play Donald in the film about this? Could an older Matt Damon pull it off?
  12. Should have traded for Toby when they had the chance
  13. Lawless thinks he starts, saying no reason to send Comrie on the road to back up.
  14. That's a ridiculous argument. I mean, the Friends-of-Trump crowd come up with some good ones, but that's pretty hollow.
  15. That's quite a coincidence that 17 intelligence agencies all strongly suspect the same thing. But yeah, probably just guessing.
  16. There isn't? So 17 Intelligence Agencies are just bored and shooting the **** when they say it happened?
  17. Do you remember this one? Its a weird headline because of course the FLOOD did not dump snow. But we got a huge spring blizzard in early April. I was working the over night shift at Grace Hsp so while we heard the news we really had no idea how much snow was coming down because grace is set so far back and the drive ups were cleared regularly. I drove home in a 1990 Cavalier (great car). But while on Pembina, could not get onto Chancellor Dr due to snow. I parked in a parking lot (maybe the Canad Inns on Pembina) and walked home. Modern snow clearing had the city cleaned up pretty quick (versus '86 and the one in the 50's). But a month later, the Flood came...
  18. He worked the dark match against Ziggler. I dont watch SD often, do they usually do those weird segments that just end? Like with Shane and Styles, Nak etc. What they did with Nak wasnt bad because the draw is now next week when wrestles on TV. Bray/Orton is bad. Very bad. It needs to end. On a brand that has Nak and Styles, for example, wasting time in the main event on Bray, Orton and Rowan is mind boggling.
  19. In the age of Trump, there is no story about Rice or really anyone else that is more in need of investigating then the President himself.
