  1. Helle with a .500 save percentage. Guess Maurice gets an extension. Should mean chevy gets fired then. Can't have it both ways. I love when the team is eliminated and spouts cliches about still having lots to play for and then gets trounced. They can't wait to go home and play golf. Might as well call up Comrie now.
  2. Chevy doesnt escape blame. He considers having two creamers instead of one in his monthly small latte to be a bold decision. Maurice getting an extension, Flaherty and Huddy still being here...that would be another strike against Chevy. Chevy firing the entire coaching staff would be a bold step in the right direction. Then getting a goalie, then getting bottom pairing D..and we're onto something.
  3. What happened to Ducky? Also, Dano is good. If its because they didnt feel he put the effort there since the team is eliminated, so be it. But really, Maurice is a big big problem with this team. We can point to goaltending and D and injuries and schedule. And maybe if any one of those things was different, we'd have made the playoffs. But you can add coaching to that. Maurice is a big problem. Extending Maurice, even if the team is improved on the ice and on paper is like having a Ferrari with no engine. Maurice is terrible.
  4. The incentive to sign with the Jets before the end of the season was that he could play one game and use up one year of a two year ELC. But as it now comes out, all he had to do was wait til June and he'd be able to sign a one year ELC anyway. So really, he's in the driver's seat. The ELC vs UFA doesnt really matter. Because either way, he is playing a year. Would you rather play a year in North Dakota and be a UFA or sign a one year deal in the NHL, make big money and still be a UFA in one year? Can an NHL team offer him a multi-year deal where Year One is the ELC restrictions and Year 2-4 (or whatever) are whatever theyn negotiate or does it have to be a one year deal. Period. Then sign a new deal? And if so, cant a player sign a new contract a year in advance? So couldn't he technically sign a one year ELC with the Jets (or anyone) this summer AND also sign a 3 year extension at the same time for non-ELC money to begin after the ELC expires? Its likely all moot. He either wants to sign here due to the relationship built up over the years or he wants to pick his team (of teams interested).
  5. Who knew being President was just an extended vacation. Even better, he doesnt even have to clear it with his wife! She has her own place. "No, honey, its business. Really."
  6. This is interesting. So sounds like his elc is one year for everyone now that he's waiting
  7. There are rumours that it's Armie Hammer. I think he'd be good. There was also a rumour Hammer might be Nightwing and then take over the Batman role from Affleck.
  8. Sending the entire coaching staff packing would be a great start,
  9. Lots of chatter that flynn could be making a deal with the FBI
  10. Thorburn isnt an enforcer. His fights are all set up fights between him and whomever fights on the other team. Its a self fulfilling thing where, they fight to justify their ice time and their ice time is there because they fight. Its garbage. I dont remember the last time someone victimized a Jets player and then ws shaking in his stakes because Thorbun was coming on next.
  11. I think the NHL was always interested in going there. I guess for most sports it comes down to a facility. Once MGM built the arena and wanted a regular tenant, it became easy for the NHL to want to go there.
  12. I think if I had to trade Buff or Myers...its tough. Myers has a great contract and is more consistent than Buff. His contract isnt forever though. Buff is the better high end player. Buff is the type that gets you over the top but he isnt doing much to get us there. I guess I'd trade Myers. But that's relying on Buff being good Buff and the Jets making the playoffs where good Buff can really shine. If Buff doesnt care, get rid of him.
  13. Maurice is a hockey genius. There is no issue with goaltending. Every issue relates back to some science of hockey that we just dont understand. Thank goodness Paul Maurice is here to explain it to us. We might not win any games but there is no one smarter at explaining why its no ones fault than Paul Maurice.
  14. Could be creative things to do. vegas has to pick three goalies but they dont have to keep them. Perhaps they pick a solid available goalie and flip him to someone else. Jets send Hutch and a pick as part of a deal to prevent vegas from taking someone we want to keep. Better solution is the Jets finding a way to only protect 3 D.
  15. Well we dont know what he might become. He has upside. Could he eventually be a 4th D? Maybe. Most likely he's a solid bottom pairing on a good team. Which fits the bill as far as what the Jets need. A consistent solid bottom pairing would be great. No reason to believe Myers' doesnt return next season fully healthy after surgery. If fully healthy, he's a bonafide top 4 D (top 2 on many teams). How the Jets fit them all together is the issue. Myers probably slips to 3RHD with Poolman going to the 3LHD role. They can increase Myers' ice time with special teams. Even better might be consideration of a trade involving Buff which would bring back something nice and clear the way for Trouba/Myers/Poolman as the top right hand D.
  16. Lets hope. He did attend all the camps, I believe. So he has a relationship with the Jets. If his intent is to sign Im still surprised they wouldnt just do it now, get the bonus money and, I'd assume, Jets would be heavily involved in the medical process, rehab etc. But Im sure there are reasons not to sign. Hopefully it happens. Unless he has a team he really really wants to play for, one would think he'd go with the team that he's been involved with for years. Money is going to be the same. Contract length is going to be the same.
  17. I think they really dont understand these films. With Marvel, we got to know the characters over time and got to like the characters. When it was time for the Avengers, they had built anticipation and it was easy to slip into the film because we knew the characters and were emotionally invested in them already. DC is throwing this team at us. Snyder showed he couldnt do justice to just two characters in his last outing and we're to believe he can make us give a **** about Flash, Cyborg and Auquaman too? Plus, spend adequate time explaining Batman's motivations and what he does to unite them? Plus explain Superman's resurrection? Man...I dont have a good feeling about this.
  18. I think its relevant only in the context of the Jets. This is a team that knew by Christmas they were having issues on D. Hell, they knew it entering the season since Trouba was a hold out. But by Christmas they could see Buff was "bad Buff" and Myers was hurt. They did nothing to improve the D. Absolutely nothing. They knew by Christmas that goaltending was shaky. They did nothing to address that. Absolutely nothing. When Maurice finally got sick of it, they re-called Pavs who played just as well as one would expect - not well at all. When this team still had a shot at the Playoffs, Chevy did NOTHING to address the short-comings. ZERO. So when our back up, who has one year left, starts playing well, it doesnt surprise me that someone would say 'I bet Chevy thinks Hutch can play next year'. By Christmas, Chevy had closed the book on the playoffs this year. I dont know why. Incompetence? Budget? Who knows. But when the team needed help to compete, he closed his door.
