  1. From a CNN story about this: It's reminiscent of a 2009 incident in which the Obama White House tried to exclude Fox News from interviewing a newly-appointed administration official, Kenneth Feinberg -- and got a brusque reply from the bureau chiefs of ABC, CBS, CNN and NBC that they would skip planned interviews with Feinberg unless Fox was included. Fox should return the favour.
  2. Well maybe it's for the best. Remove any delusional thoughts on behalf of management to retain players for a push. Sell. Sell. Sell.
  3. Absolutely ridiculous. Shameful. I hope all media boycotts these things until it changes. But that's probably what Trump wants. Hopefully there's a lawsuit in it. Associated Press and some other outlets refused to take part. Good on them. Trump the dictator.
  4. The shirt in question bore the image of a baseball bat and the message “Eeny Meeny Miny Moe” — a reference to a scene from the AMC zombie drama in which Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) is deciding who in the protagonist group to kill. In the scene, Negan continues the phrase with, “Catch a tiger by his toe” — though, historically in the U.K. the rhyme has employed the N-word rather than the word “tiger.” The historical use caused shopper Ian Lucraft to complain after spotting the shirt at a branch of the U.K.’s Primark retail chain. “We were shocked when we came face to face with a new t-shirt with a racially explicit graphic and text,” Lucraft told the Warwick Courier. “It was fantastically offensive and I can only assume that no one in the process of ordering it knew what they were doing or were aware of its subliminal messages.” Someone wants their 15 minutes of fame.
  5. Winnipeg, Manitoba - New lighting, flooring, ceiling, and signage are all part of new renovations for the MTS Centre scheduled to be completed by late fall of 2017. True North Sports + Entertainment announced today that starting this week, building upgrades will shift from work in the arena bowl to comprehensive renovations in the concourses, and in the Portage Avenue atrium, transforming the overall experience for Winnipeg Jets fans inside the MTS Centre. Additionally, new food and beverage options will be added. The new colours will emulate the Winnipeg Jets brand colour palette while incorporating an aviation theme of glass, steel, and rivets. The planning for the renovations has been in development for over three years. Norva Riddell, True North's senior vice-president of sales and marketing says, "the 2017 MTS Centre Concourse Renovations Project is a significant upgrade that will be completed in a series of phases over the next several months. During the renovations, True North Sports + Entertainment is committed to keeping fans informed with progress updates on www.winnipegjets.com, social media, and with direct communication to our seat holders." Estimated at $12 million, the renovations project is fully ownership funded, and represents True North's ongoing commitment to reinvestment in the MTS Centre.
  6. So realistically, we could have Nogier, Poolman, Kostalek, Stanley, Glover and Niku as D prospect in the next 1-3 years. If we hit big on a couple, we're doing ok. Should be at least 3 NHL caliber D out of that group.
  7. For some reason there is a feeling that the Jets will successfully sign Poolman. It wont be a money thing but he will want the best chance to play in a city he will like for the next 7 years. I believe he's been to all the development camps so I'd suspect he has a strong relationship with the Jets and will sign with us.
  8. There is one fatal flaw in the movie that took me out of it. When asked if Trina drank the vodka the obvious answer is "how the heck should I know?" And I thought they missed out on one more important question that would have been good coming from the Co-Pilot. When Whip goes to visit him, the co-pilot is understandably angry but Whip asks if he thinks they'd be alive if someone other than he (Whip) were flying that day. The co-pilot says no, he knows they'd be dead and goes on to say the crash was preordained. I would have liked him to continue that thread - tell Whip God put him at the controls because only he could prevent everyone from dying. And then ask "you saved 96 lives...but what if you had been sober? Could you have saved everyone? Could you have saved even one more?" Because I thought they made it a sort of black & white issue - yes he was drunk but yes he saved everyone so him drunk was better then everyone else sober. Im biased because I love airplane films. I bought the original Airplane movies on blu ray a couple years ago. Great 70's disaster films! EDIT: I mean Airport, not Airplane. Airport 77 and so on.
  9. Ah right. So is that next summer he's UFA if the Jets dont sign him?
  10. Not an upcoming movie, but one I watched again last night as it was on TV - Flight. What a great film. Anyone see Legend of Tarzan? I PVR'ed it as the gf likes Skarsgard and I like Robbie. Worth watching?
  11. Maybe Vegas doesnt take Myers. Jets wont take that risk. This is a guy that was widely considered the top available player not very long ago. Plus, his contract is such that Vegas probably takes him all day long.
  12. When does he re-enter the draft? Definitely dont want to lose him. What about Nelson Nogier? How's he doing with the Moose?
  13. Oddly enough, the D was considered a strong suit. And realistically, it should be. Toby, Buff, Touba, Myers gives you, on paper, a tremendous top 4. Morrissey being so good allows Toby and Buff to transition down as Josh and Trouba take over the top 2. And that still gives time to develop other D prospects. Injuries, over-all poor team D contributed to worse than expected D for the Jets. Assuming everyone is back and healthy next season, they should be significantly improved...providing Team D improves or Huddy is replaced. Poolman likely replaces Postma. Maybe Chevy picks up another decent D. But hopefully, between Poolman, Niku and Stanley, we get a couple of NHL d-men. EDIT: Forgot about Jack Glover who is 20 and playing his 3rd year of NCAA. Wouldnt he potentially be turning pro next season?
  14. Well the debate would come if the Jets felt they could make the playoffs and keep him. Losing him for nothing could be acceptable if you look at it like gaining a rental for nothing. But since the Jets wont make the playoffs and either way, Stafford isnt a major contributing part of that, let him go. if other teams think he can help, make that deal all day long before they come to their senses. Regarding Perreault, unless he gets hurt or his skills rapidly diminish, I see no reason to move him now. His value might decrease in Winnipeg as our young talent improves and pushes for his spot but at the same time, he'd still have value to another team.
  15. Is there a trade freeze prior to expansion or could the Pens, for example, trade Fluery the day before the expansion draft? I think Pens will keep Fleury past the trade deadline and try to win the cup again. And then trade him in the off-season, prior to the draft if they can.
  16. Who do you anticipate the jets losing? Who do you see Vegas' big forward/D/Goalie being?
  17. There is a video that seems to show Bannon reaching to touch Priebus and gets batted away. Interesting body language http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/politics/moment-white-house-chief-staff-9908143 Trump admin sure seems on the wrong side of this Russia stuff. Could be their eventual undoing. Trump wont last. He cant even put in a full months work, golfing every weekend even as he criticized Obama for golfing (and the admin is sensitive to this as they have lied about it).
  18. These are quite literally the two dumbest women in Canada, posing with smirks on their faces. Talk about bored housewives. Do they not have the internet in their town? And CBC's story is disgustingly one-sided. I find it impossible to belief the reporter doesnt know the reality.
  19. Nothing demonstrates the stupidity of these so-called feminists more than their embracing of the Hijab as a symbol of freedom. It would be hilarious if it wasn't so sad. And it must really strike at the heart of so many Muslim women who would love to have the freedom to throw it off. Say what you want about Le Pen but when told she had to wear a Hijab or she wouldnt meet with officials in (was it Libya?) she turned around and walked out. Meanwhile, in Ontario the Premier looks like an idiot being forced to sit at the back of the room in a Hijab and barefoot to show her "support" for Muslims. Grotesque.
  20. Look what the Pens gave for a 36 year old D man - 2nd round pick and a player. Perreault is more valuable now then many players listed above. Losing him today hurts the Jets today and tomorrow. Surely the Jets want and hope Connor takes his top six spot but will that be next season? The season after? We dont know what we have in Roslovic. Perhaps they see Roslovic as the replacement for Little. But again, he's not there yet. Without regard to the expansion draft, I'd keep Perreault, which was clearly the Jets' intent when they resigned him for 4 years. Since there is an expansion draft, who do you protect after Scheif, Little, Wheeler? Probably Lowry because if Lowry, Copp, Dano, Armia and Perreault are exposed, Lowry is likely Vegas' target. Of Copp, Dano, Armia & Perreault (assuming Lowry is protected), I dont know who Vegas would take. Copp, Damo & Armia are all young with upside. But Perreault helps them more now and has 4 years left. I'd guess they pick Copp.
  21. True. But he has experience at center. He can play all forward positions. Good player to have on your team. He hasn't looked out of place top six and he can play gritty. I'd keep him.
