But Toby still has no control of that situation in the event he's picked. I suppose that would work if they were allowed to offer an extension before the expansion draft but thats not the case (I believe). Unless they trade him at the deadline, I see them going 4-4-1 and protecting Toby, Buff, Trouba, Myers.

I agree. But to expose him still requires the Jets to effectively tell him he isnt worth them protecting him or worth Vegas taking him. And even if thats true, I dont see the Jets having that conversation with Toby.

ideally we go 5-3-1 but I dont think it happens. You'd basically be going to Toby and saying 'look, we need you to waive your no-movement clause because we want to protect more forwards and we think you're not good enough for Vegas to select so we dont think we'd lose you....and if we do, oh well". I dont see the Jets doing that. And there is little upside for Toby to do it unless he hated Winnipeg and loved the idea of playing for a terrible team in Las Vegas. And if he hated Winnipeg, then he could waive his NMC right now and be traded. i agree that Lowry is the one protected.

The Jets are getting close to a team that should be trading for some "now" players. They play enough good games to provide hope and an example of what they can be. They really need better D. Ofcourse, many of us think coaching is an issue too. And they spend a lot of money on their D.

The international posters have confirmed that "The Last Jedi" is plural. So most of us assumed The Last Jedi (singular) referred to Luke or Rey. Some people think it might now refer to Rey and Kylo as the last of their kind (or Rey and Luke I suppose). One plot element could be Luke being killed and Rey's training being interrupted, thus the Last Jedi (in a plural sense) are gone. The fact Kylo isnt a Sith might lend credence to the idea that when good finally wins, it wont be Jedi beating Sith, but something else. Although Disney ending the Jedi would be an interesting move...

The Skyscraper Forums indicate there is a master franchisee locked up for Winnipeg and they've been exploring coming here since last year. So...yes!

I think they are keeping all the back story for the trilogy. Plus, you'd need to lock of Ford for that film and really, you'd need Fisher at least (or re-cast her which is tough) and people would be angry if there is no Luke. A Ford-starring film would be good. But *some* criticism of Rogue One was that it was just filler for A New Hope. I think it would be hard to avoid that if you focus on Han between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens. Because the story everyone really wants is the Luke Skywalker story... I strongly suspect we will get a story that focuses on Vader at some point. Rogue One was re-written to include more Vader. Young Obi-Wan with Vader works for me. Although it would be sort of funny if Vader makes a cameo in the Han film too, like he just pops in for a quick scene in all the "young" films.

We talk about the exciting young players in the organization but I dont like that line up at all... Connor and Roslovic sure...and I guess Lemieux but is he really only a 4th line player in the AHL? That D is scary. I like Tanev but will he be an everyday player in the NHL? And if so, likely bottom 3.

Laine will have to finish with more points regardless of GP. Jets have played more than Leafs so TO will catch up here. We'll see what the points look like then. One of the TSN guys picked Matthews as His Calder winner saying it's like Ovechkin vs Crosby - Ovechkin scores more goals but everyone thinks Sid is better. Except Ovechkin won the Calder. So that was a weird point. Calder is not for player you think will have the best career. It's not even for most talented player. It's for player who has the best rookie season. If Laine finishes ahead of Mathews especially in goals, he should win. Period.

Pine was a really good Kirk. Writing and directing let him down big time. That shouldn't be the issue with Han. So hopefully the actor can pull it off.

Its going to be really tough. Its almost not worth even attempting from a creative perspective. But if it works, it opens up a huge world of "young" films re-casting the original stars. I think I would have gone with a Post-A New Hope Kenobi adventure first, if only because the fans have already accepted Ewen as Obi Wan. That has to be next on their agenda, you'd think, especially if there is a way to use Vader as a lead character (creatively, Vader and Obi Wan would not be able to meet, however).

Yup. I actually looked back and surprised it took so long for a reply. I thought it was relevant news. But both sides playing politics and makes everyone look bad. Any suggestion that attacks on Muslims is directly linked to Conservative motions should be nixed immediately. The Liberals arent on moral high ground with that one. I really hope our elected officials keep arguing over who hates racism the most, though. Seems a reasonable use of their time.
