Someone like Trump probably makes thing better because a lot of people that voted for him clearly regret it...so in the future perhaps they wont be so quick to believe the 140 character rhetoric.

Yeah but Im not sure thats sustainable. its preaching to the choir. Because everytime Trump tweets, there are far more tweets ripping him for it. And they range from reasonable and true to crazy and aggressive. But ultimately, the words get lost in the noise. Trump-ites will filter out the opposition but everyone else wont. So Trump will only be speaking to his people. If thats enough to sustain him then its a good strategy but I dont think it is.

The pessimist in me says Jets will always go for the average coach who costs the average money. But Chipman might see it differently. If you signed a $3m coach and made the playoffs every year, you make that back and more. Maurice might be cheaper but he's proven to be a coach that cant motivate and cant get the most out of his players.

You'd have to pay him a ton since he gets $3 million to sit at home next year. Whats the process when that happens and a guy gets signed? Bruins would make him an offer to release him early for less money? Sure he wouldnt forgo the entire $3m. But I agree, you cant not try to get a coach that good. Hitch similarly but he's older. I'd think Vegas would have a good shot because they will probably spend more than anyone else. Question is, will Julien like a team that he has years and years until winning or the opportunity to cement his legacy by taking a ragtag group of misfits on the adventure of a lifetime?

The story is Bruins President Cam Neely wanted Julien gone last summer but GM Sweeney wanted to keep him. So he got another year. But Sweeney didnt really do anything to make the Bruins better. And Julien was given mixed messages of "play the youth" and "make the playoffs now". The reporter on H&L last night really savaged Neely saying he was a guy who wanted to be in charge who didnt want to do any of the work.

I agree with you. The reasons to privatize MTS dont exist with Hydro. But taking Hydro private would make a lot of Conservatives and their pals very rich. So IF its the desire of the Cons to do that, they have inherited a scenario that could be spun to average Manitobans as a "we had no choice" option. Cons are going to have to inject money into Hydro. They just will. And perhaps on the back of a 1% increase in the PST.

But are we going to say oh young team under performing for ten years and miss our shot? Why is Stu here? Why is Thorbs here? Why is Chiarot/Postma the answer for bottom pairing? You could make the argument that Pavs being recalled was Chevy refusing to go out and get a different goaltending option. Chevy will get one more coaching change. But if Chipman announced tomorrow that every one was fired, it wouldnt shock me. It would surprise me because thats not what the Jets do. But it wouldnt shock me. At the end of the day, Chevy is responsible.

I think they will have to inject money. Even if the NDP set Hydro up for failure, it would be irresponsible of the Cons to let Hydro raise rates like that. As someone else said, we pay either way but the province can amortize a billion dollar expense a lot easier than average and lower-income people can absorb a potential 50% increase over the next few years. But if the Cons really want to privatize, the NDP has handed them the excuse on a silver platter. And massive force reduction is usually a precursor to that.
