I dont disagree. I think they expected Hutch to be better to take the load off Helle. The reason Pavs is here is not Helle as much as its Hutch, I think. But a young goalie not being consistently above average is not a shocker. Poor Team D doesnt help. And whatever it is that takes promising goalies and has them start really strong and slowly regress should be identified and rectified (hint: Flaherty).

It wouldnt surprise me if Chevy works some magic with Stafford and gets a decent pick. Teams see him as a 20+ goal scorer and a veteran. If they want to win now, a 2nd or 3rd isnt too much to pay. But knowing the Jets they will still think we have a shot and keep him.

Helle did not crap his pants back to square one. Im far too lazy to try and look up facts and figures so Ill just pull some out of my ass. While goal tending was not a strength of the Jets, Helle was providing league average goal tending until his back to back pulls. Those pulls sunk his stats to a level that is STILL higher than Pavs or Hutch. Pavs got waived because there was no need to see any more. They had 5 years of stats and knew exactly what Pavelec provided. And guess what, they were right! Blame Helle? Well, is Helle maliciously throwing games? Obviously not. He has regressed though. Just like Hutch regressed. Just like pavs regressed. Now why do goalies regress? Is it because they suck? Is it because the system in front of them is creating a situation where they have to be better than they are? Is it their goalie coach? I might argue that every goalie that played well in the AHL, came up playing well and regressed. EVERY OTHER TEAM (to be fair I dont know if this is true but Im going to say it anyway) has fired goalie coaches looking for the right one for their goalie to be better, not worse, including Price who went through three goalie coaches before they settled on one. At this point, I'd fire Flaherty and bring up the Moose goalie coach and then look for a permanent replacement in the off-season.

Is this massively expensive BiPole III project needed?? And if its to make it easier to supply power to the US, arent they already under-paying for our power?

Maurice said after the Avs game that the D has work to do. No kidding. its been that way for six years. Can you imagine the Bombers keeping their D coordinator that long? In the NHL, less emphasize is put on the assistants but if Huddy has been chiefly responsible for the D for six years, he's about three years past his best before date.

I think Maurice will switch fast though when Pavs has a bad game and they lose. It's desperation time. It's psychological Balance. Yeah maybe he's not great but we're winning. That sort of thing. Also its possible Maurice is really "coaching" Helle doing this. And trying to reset him a bit. It mihjt be better for Helle long term but it sounds like for sure they aren't sending Pavs back down within the no waivers window. So Hutch carries a roster spot all year for nothing. And that's as good as telling Hutch he's done. I wonder if they try to trade him in the off season or just send him to the Moose and how Hutch feels about that. There was talk San Jose was interested in him.

Would be nice for Hartford but the NHL mihjt be sour on that. It's far enough away that it's basically a temporary relocation which they won't like and it will only fan the flames of expansion there. And they won't like that either. Maybe they should play in China for a couple years lol

Lawless' opinion of Poolman was the jets are high on him and he would have gotten an opportunity to play this year. Did I hear right that he plays both sides? Would jets consider a RHD on the left side a long term proposition? THat would certainly help

Just seems so suspicious. Usually when a player goes this long and it's career threatening the injury isn't a secret. Does he need surgery? Then have it. I think they are protecting something else....

If the jets are willing to buy him out then leave him exposed. Of Vegas takes him then they did the jets a favour. If he has a carer threatening injury though, they can ask the Nhl to declare him exempt. Sounds fishy though. He was skating and on the road trip and about to play then left the team for a personal reason and suddenly his injury flared up?
