  1. I watch SD on FF if I bother to watch at all...so nope, I cant put my finger on it at all.
  2. No doubt, its for the international market. Im cool with that. Just seemed a bit of a stretch creatively that the ship is named after the Chinese space program and has a Chinese Captain.
  3. That's sort of my point though. The hyperbole works both ways. I see that and I think sure, left wing liberal nuts call it racist. Then I see others saying 'oh we're racist I guess, cant even have an adult conversation about this issue' and to me it undermines the conversation on both sides. Both sides point to the goofballs and say "see thats the alternative" when usually everyone knows the goofballs arent representative of the general public. There is a lot of racism in the US and this election has shown it, unfortunately. But both Clinton and Trump wanted immigration reform....
  4. Dont ignore that. Because thats what the Jets have been. Rebuilding, missing playoffs to get good players. Give it time. Ofcourse they want to win a cup but when they dont win a cup this year, Chevy isnt going to be demanding someone's head on a platter because that isnt the expectation.
  5. Yes but if the Jets so improvement within their young group but miss the playoffs, they will continue the plan. if the Pens miss the playoffs, changes will be made. Desire is the same. Expectation is different.
  6. Deadline today has allegedly confirmed that Michelle Yeoh has been cast in a role as a Starfleet Captain in Star Trek: Discovery. Specifically, Deadline’s sources state that her character’s name will be Han Bo and she will captain the U.S.S. Shenzhou, a vessel that will “play a big role in Discovery’s first season.” ***Casting a Chinese actor to play a Chinese character on a Chinese ship seems a bit on the nose to me. But its good casting.
  7. The off-side challenge is the stupidest rule in sports. It reminds me of the toe-in-the-crease debacle of a few years ago. You're allowed to break a guys hand but half an inch off-side when it has zero impact on the play and its challenged? Brutal. They will get rid of that one. Its worth rescinding immediately actually.
  8. He's just playing a role and most of the WWE guys know that. Some react which is silly since its them being worked. Connor singling out two guys who couldnt fight their way out of a wet paper back as "dons" is hilarious and shows that he's just working. Every single guy in WWE would want that match with Connor because of the money and eyeballs it would generate. What makes Connor attractive is exactly what WWE doesnt know how to do anymore - let personalities shine through to generate heat.
  9. Maybe but that's not a standard, common sense opinion. So when it gets used as a weapon against people it defeats the initial argument. Deporting illegal immigrants who have committed crimes is, I think, widely accepted. The issue is illegals who have been in the US for many many years, have been contributing to society and in many cases, have American-born children. That's not a black & white issue. And Trump wont round up all of them and deport them either. He just wont.
  10. Reports that WWE have hired Steve Corino to be a trainer in NXT. Steve's ROH deal runs til end of December so he cannot officially go anywhere, but expect this to happen. Great move by WWE. Steve is a former World Champion, worked all over, very smart and a great teacher. Very good commentator also and happens to be a Winnipegger. Fellow Winnipegger Sarah Stock also trains for NXT (I heard she might be working as an agent on the main roster now too).
  11. I assume vegas would fit on the schedule when the Jets do their California road trip. Which, if I recall, is usually winter right? Might attract a lot of Peg fans. Im more likely to visit Vegas in summer. But Ill go down for Jets games, hopefully in September or March/April rather then Dec/Jan.
  12. People get called racist for wanting to enforce immigration laws?
  13. Arizona will work out in the end I bet.
  14. See, if they went with Nevada, then something more in keeping with Gold makes sense. Could have gone completely out of the norm and went with Nevada Gold. But they wanted Vegas in the name, ofcourse. Could have done better. Las Vegas Bandits.
  15. Yes if they cant do a deal with Trouba (or know they can, since they cant til July 1) then trading him early is an option. But again, you want to get back assets you dont have to protect, so 1-2 year players. Jets said they wanted a "now" player. I strongly suspect, if Toby didnt have a NMC, they'd simply expose him.
  16. Will the protected list be confidential? ie. Only the team submitting their list (ie. Jets) and the team choosing (ie. Vegas) will know who's on it? That could impact some deals...
  17. North of 30, high priced, UFA in a year. All the reasons no point in taking him versus having a shot at Lowry, Armia, Dano who they'd control for several more years. If Vegas probably wouldnt take him anyway and the Jets asked for an assurance of that, Vegas would say "okay, but to give you that assurance, we want a 4th round draft pick or a lower level player" (plus they still get their regular pick off the Jets). So unless Toby was someone they desperately wanted (and if they did, the Jets would have to protect him and they wouldnt get him anyway), then Vegas gets two assets instead of one they didnt really want. The better reason for Vegas not to agree is that by agreeing, it lets the Jets protect three more player (is it three??) so Vegas' pool to pick from is smaller. But again, to get them to agree to that, you have to make it worth their while. if they look at the Jets and see 3-4 guys they'd be happy to take, and the Jets offer them a second asset to accept a smaller pool of 1-2, then Vegas still gets what they want and a second asset. There could also be future considerations involved where the Jets help them out with a trade later.
  18. lol. No one will care in a few months. I remember when everyone hated the Ducks. And I heard everyone hated the Pens too. heck, there are some that didnt want the Jets to be called the Jets. I think in this day and age, they could have done a better job. But hamstrung by the NHL refusing anything that remotely related to gambling (which meant anything remotely related to Las Vegas) and the owner desperately wanting "Knights". Vegas Knights (as in Vegas Nights) is actually pretty clever.
  19. Ive gone back and forth a few times about this. Most likely a conspiracy. But more likely closer to what it appeared than a wild all-encompassing conspiracy.
  20. I had a bit of twitter war with a couple people about Laine being on the "third line" even though he played 4th most minutes among forwards. Its not a bad spot for him to see the game a bit differently.
  21. Ive made it through 4 episodes. I have a couple of theories for how it ends. Im a spoiler junkie but avoiding spoilers this time. Its a great series and surely could be a regular series. As you said, could be anthology type as well. What happens if there is another closet and someone else goes back and changes history...can multiple closets change the same history? Maybe these questions are answered...and I just havent got there yet.
  22. Golden Girls. First thing I thought of. In 5 years when they revamp the logo, they will drop "Golden".
  23. Yeah thats probably my play if Im Chevy (and what do I know). If normally you'd offer a 2-3 year extension, you say you will add two years of security if he will waive his NMC. The risk to Toby is that vegas might actually pick him. Then again, Jets could get assurances from Vegas that they would not pick Toby. So you get him to waive his NMC, leave him exposed and it allows you to protect more players. Toby gets a bigger/longer extension. If Toby wants to leave, he might as well waive too. If Vegas picks him, he'd be their top LHD and a UFA the following year anyway.
  24. Quebec doesnt grow the league in the way the league wants. Its more like back filling. It will be the relocation option. Look for the Hurricanes to potentially land there. NHL learned through the Coyotes & Thrashers fiasco that they need a soft landing spot to maintain their leverage. Vegas makes sense for a few reasons and I think they will be somewhat successful. Even if they have empty seats, they should never be a money loser.
