  1. I thought that too. So Im not sure, he is right handed but does he play the left side?
  2. Ridiculous. Police should be ashamed of themselves for doing this. They do it here too, to catch people looking at their phone when they are stopped at red lights. Once again proving the cell phone law is not about safety, its about collecting revenue.
  3. Yeah I think this is an arrogant agent telling his client he will get everything he wants and more. Trouba wants to be 2RHD so Jets make him 1LHD and he demands a trade? I dont know about that....
  4. He's in the same boat as Trouba. He hasnt reported to Sabres camp and wants a big long term deal. Speculation is he wants $6-$7mm and Sabres offered $5. Sound familiar? 6'4". 219 lbs. From Finland. But he shoots right.
  5. I think unless someone blows Chevy's socks off, he will let Trouba's agent do the heavy lifting in figuring out the best place and offer. Supposedly the agent tried all summer to get an offer sheet and couldn't. Keep in mind too, if the Jets can get a LHD who doesnt need to be protected, that would allow them to protect more forwards. I wonder if they'd take a lesser player and apply value to his expansion draft eligibility. I guess that would have to be a 1st/2nd year player.
  6. I only watched the main event. What a weird main event. Almost as if they worked a lackluster match on purpose. i expected Hunter to get involved. Here's an example of WWE cookie-cutter booking: The original plan for the next PPV was Owens vs Finn vs Jericho. Finn gets hurt and now Seth is playing the part of Finn. Everyone is interchangeable. Agreed about Rusev. Very good. Trying to keep Roman "down" to try and build up some love with the fans. Not sure it will work. The whole Stephanie angle makes no sense. She wanted Seth to win. She was angry about Hunter screwing him. She hates KO but still threw him a party. And now she screws Seth again. meant to be subtle. Okay, sure. Seth will browbeat Steph leading to Hunter, the heel, coming back to defend his wife's honor. Its moronic. And worse, its slow burn. Unless ratings keep dropping, this is all leading to Hunter/Seth at WrestleMania.
  7. I come back to Brendan Lemiuex. He's not an elite level prospect but he wasnt making outlandish demands in Buffalo...but there was the sense it was time to move on. He seems perfectly happy in Winnipeg. If either Ristolainen or Lindholm are feeling its time to move on and their demand isnt outlandish (and really, with comps established, its hard to be outlandish), I could see something there.
  8. It could also be an agent trying to maximize his own commission and perhaps Trouba doesnt think the same as his agent. The players' comments are interesting. Little basically said Trouba was a good guy who was good in the room. But Perrault's comments were so strong, it makes me wonder if that's entirely true. Its hard to believe its about money. The comps are there. There is little to negotiate in terms of money unless Trouba is nuts.
  9. Im not sure. But talk is Rasmus might be in a similar situation to Trouba. Mostly, Trouba and Bogo are best friends and Rasmus is apparently best buddies with Laine.
  10. Would Chevy end up making another big deal with Buffalo and send Trouba for Rasmus Ristolainen?
  11. Here is a great list posted to a blog site: Note: Posted this in the previous thread but it fits better here given the topic of the blog. Here is a list of players that any deal for Trouba likely starts and ends with (as in other parts can be added by either team to make perceived fair value but if one of these players is not coming back to the Jets then the deal won't happen at all): ANA - Cam Fowler ANA - Hampus Lindholm ANA - Shea Theodore ANA already has tons of young right-shot defencemen and may have trouble fitting in a contract for Trouba, not to mention that removal of any of the above three players creates a problem on the left side for ANA. ARI - Jacob Chychrun Jacob Chychrun was just drafted and WPG likely wants a player with more certainty as to their future ceiling as a NHL player. BOS - Jakub Zboril See note regarding Chychrun. CAR - Noah Hanifin CAR - Haydn Fleury Hanifin is likely not a player CAR would even consider giving up and Fleury may not have the experience WPG wants. COL - Nikita Zadorov COL - Chris Bigras WPG is not likely to want to trade within the division and both Zadorov and Bigras have had the shine wear off a bit as prospects (in particular, a prospect that has already been traded once such as Zadorov is far less appealing in a trade - see Dano, Marko). CBJ - Ryan Murray CBJ - Zach Werenski CBJ would have to cut off its nose to spite its face here, so to speak, and if I were the WPG management Ryan Murray is not a player I particularly want if there are other options. Werenski I imagine would be a non-starter for CBJ given the esteem he is held in by their organization. EDM - Oscar Klefbom EDM - Darnell Nurse Klefbom doesn't make much sense as EDM surely wants to keep hold of their de-facto top-pairing lefty. Nurse would certainly be a more interesting proposition to both teams, especially if EDM is comfortable with Davidson/Reinhart filling the 3LD/7D positions going into the season. EDM has almost the opposite problem of Winnipeg where they have almost too many left shots and not enough right shots. MIN - Jonas Brodin This trade is probably not possible within the division and between two teams that likely view one another as being competition for a playoff challenge. MTL - Nathan Beaulieu MTL - Mikhail Sergachev Neither is a realistic option. If MTL trades Beaulieu then they don't have a partner for Weber. If MTL trades Sergachev then they don't have a replacement for Markov. Add in Weber and Petry as MTL's current right-side options and I doubt Trouba falls into any better of a situation than he currently is in in WPG (not that he gets a say unless a team demands the right to talk contract with him prior to pulling the trigger on the trade). NSH - Mattias Ekholm There are countless reasons why this deal wouldn't work, but Ekholm is certainly a player WPG should be interested in. NYI - Nick Leddy See the note on Ekholm. OTT - Thomas Chabot Like others mentioned previously, Chabot may be slightly too green to pique WPG's interest too much. PHI - Shanye Gostisbehere PHI - Ivan Provorov PHI - Robert Hagg PHI - Samuel Morin PHI - Travis Sanheim PHI looks like a good trading partner for WPG here with no fewer than 5 options to pursue. All of PHI's top defence prospects are left-handed so they are potentially facing a log-jam in the future trying to fit all of these names in and WPG could help them out (and move Trouba out of the conference completely). Provorov and Gostisbehere may be a little too much to ask for without WPG adding more but Morin and Sanheim could be good choices as well. PIT - Olli Maatta PIT - Derrick Pouliot These teams would make surprising trading partners and PIT would be hard pressed to make such a deal without sending significant salary back to WPG. PIT is likely loathe to move either player but they may feel that Trouba is more of a sure thing than two players who have had injuries and developmental concerns in the recent past. TBL - Nikita Nesterov TBL - Slater Koekkoek The biggest obstacle here is Tampa Bay's cap issues as they would need to send significant dollars back to even contemplate acquiring Trouba. From WPG's perspective, I doubt these players are as appealing as some of the other names on this list so they may be best to take a pass on taking back a lesser player than Trouba and a cash dump to even the money. TOR - Morgan Reilly If TOR didn't hang up the phone laughing immediately after receiving this trade proposal I would be very surprised. Not only is Reilly's stock higher around the league but then Toronto would need to find a top pair LD to fill the gap. Jake Gardiner is not on the list because WPG management is not James Tanner. VAN - Olli Juolevi If VAN were able to trade the Sedins and revert to a traditional rebuild model then I would see them holding onto Juolevi but in reality where they are trying to stay competitive for the Sedins they might value the further-developed Trouba more. In any case, I imagine WPG wants someone a little further along on the developmental curve than Juolevi, despite the upside. ***** In general, the Jets' potential trading partners are other teams with flawed rosters who have excess left-sided defencemen either on the roster or in the system. In general, I don't think the trade request hurts the value that Winnipeg will get for Trouba as young, skilled right-shot defencemen are hard to come by and the Jets are not under pressure to be contenders this year (so not having Trouba in the lineup while things sort themselves out is not the end of the world - in fact it may create more opportunity for a player like Josh Morrissey to play top 4 minutes).
  12. I had heard Strowman was a lot better in development than he was allowed to show. But I dont know...even if its true, its the same think I've harped on - booking. When it comes to character assignment, WWE isnt quite as bad as they used to be but the point is still relevant that they will have an idea for gimmick and assign it to someone rather than having a guy who's gimmick is an organic thing, that plays upon who he is and what he's comfortable with. The best gimmicks are all reality. Shawn Michaels was really an arrogant jerk. Bret Hart was really very serious and felt he was the leader of the new generation. Nash is really a smartass who thinks he's smarter then everyone. Steve Austin is 100% Steve Austin. Their biggest issue is creative. If you actually make it to the creative team, you want to stay. So you dont rock the boat. You just play to what Hunter & Vince want to hear. Why is Steph cutting balls off on TV every week? Because if you want to keep your job, you write her to be this powerful independant woman who everyone is afraid of. The first guy who suggests they write Steph to suck at her job or have an affair? Wont be in the business long...
  13. Good points by McKenzie ofcourse. So is there a team with a prospect or rookie who is a LHD with the upside of a Trouba that a team might feel they'd rather trade a "future" for a "now"?
  14. http://www.todaysslapshot.com/nichols-notes/mckenzie-jets-may-seek-high-impact-one-one-trouba-trade/ “There’s lots of interest in him, but there’s maybe not all that many teams that are positioned well to get him,” said McKenzie. “Right now the Winnipeg Jets – if they trade Jacob Trouba, and it is an if because they put out their statement that was kind of a counter to his, basically saying, ‘Hey, we’ll do whatever’s in the best interest of our hockey team.’ But they also know long term that it’s not the best fit and it’s not the best circumstance. “But right now, the Jets appear to be looking for a high-impact, one-for-one deal. That is ‘Okay, we’re going to trade a guy coming out of entry level who is a right-shot defenseman – which is really valuable in the National Hockey League – and even though we didn’t play him in a Top 4 role because we had Byfuglien and Myers ahead of him on the depth chart, we’re going to treat him as if he’s a Top 4 guy. Therefore, our asking price is we want a Top 4 or top-pairing left-shot defenseman to fill the hole that we would be creating by trading Trouba.’ Because the Jets planned on playing Trouba on the left side with either Byfuglien or Myers this year. “Well, there’s not that many left-shot, elite defensemen coming out of entry level of like ages and talents. I mean, Rasmus Ristolainen in Buffalo would be one. And I absolutely believe Buffalo would have interest in Jacob Trouba. But not if it means giving up Ristolainen. I do not believe that Buffalo would make that one-for-one trade. “Anaheim’s got Hampus Lindholm in a situation where he’s a restricted free agent who doesn’t have a contract yet, so even though Sweden is knocked out, he won’t be in camp this week. Similar situation to Trouba. I don’t believe that Anaheim is prepared to trade Hampus Lindholm to Winnipeg in a one-for-one for Trouba. “So there are teams out there – New York Rangers, Arizona, some others – that would be really interested in Jacob Trouba; but they don’t have the asset that, at this point in time, Winnipeg is demanding in exchange. “So it’ll be interesting to see how this thing proceeds here over the next little while.”
  15. Yeah...I dont know. Normally I'd agree with you on that. But id David Duke was the nominee would we think it was right to wear David Duke support hats? Plus, I think a lot of Trump supporters are rock star groupies and not people who have really given it some thought. Certainly, people have the right to wear what they want. People have the right to disagree. If I wore a Trump support hat or shirt, I really wouldnt get angry when people question me...I'd expect it.
  16. The "wants to play at home" is always a red herring. it comes up time and again with players who end up signing with teams not at home. The vast majority of players fully accept that they will play somewhere else in their careers. "Close to home" might be nice. Look at Buff. He signed a long term contract with Atlanta of all places and when asked what would happen if the team moved to Winnipeg he said thats fine, its close to home. But he still signed in Atlanta. If Trouba was apart of a winning team, liked his coaches, liked his team mates, liked the city...all things his agent says is true, then Winnipeg wouldnt matter. Its not often a player like Kane comes along who just flat out doesnt want to be somewhere. But even to Kane's credit, he asked for a trade every single season and still played hard and quietly. There is only one home. And players dont get to choose to go play there. Thats very rare. The biggest thing would be taxes if it was me. But then, everyone should want to play in Florida with no state income tax, but they dont.
  17. So they are looking for a team to give up a similar player. Need a team who values trouba's upside more than the player they are giving up or someone who wants out of that situation. Wait til December when trouba will have to sit the entire season and see if maybe he changes his mind. He might decide he should make his own decisions
  18. Is Hamonic a RHD or is he a right shot that plays left? why not swap buff and trouba? Buff has played left side before. Problem solved.
  19. Well that's really the rub. Booking booking booking. It's lousy. They have something like 50 writers and the shows suck because Vince and Hunter dictate the overall direction and they are stuck in a rut. There is a "WWE way" to do things which makes the show boring and formulaic. They desperately need a creative shake up.
  20. I agree with goalie that the ask is high and the return should be high. Look was Chevy for for known problem and under achiever Kane who was basically awol from the team. Trouba will command a big return. Surely the jets want a top four LHD who is expansion draft exempt. Plus a prospect. This is the agent though. Hardball. Nothing is promised and trouba wants promises.
  21. This is very interesting because it's counter to what we had been told. And actually if you take the player and agent at their word they are saying playing here is not an issue. But I can understand trouba position to a degree his agent has probably laid out his future compensation based on being a 1RHD. And laid it out for him if he plays a diminished role on the left because he isn't as good or comfortable. Keep in mind it seemed the jets plan last season was to trade Buff. If they did this is moot clearly the jets feel the player should sign and play where he's told Maurice has said recently that he sees trouba as 1LHD so knowing the player doesn't want to do that they have publicly said that's his role The agent has a strategy but if it's to stay in wpg and get what he wants the posturing could backfire. Chevy could say going public cooled the market and they won't take less than they want so trouba sits out it could be thi drags til December when Trou a would have to lose the whole season. It sucks because the optics will be star players wanting out of winnipeg. Kane and now trouba publicly asking to trades.
  22. There has been talk of teams making deals with Vegas to avoid losing someone they can't protect. You never know...unfortunately Vegas has nothing to trade back but draft picks.
