  1. You're misrepresenting what I said. Firstly the actors who played Chekov, Sulu, Scotty and Uhura were not critical to the return of the TOS in 1978. Had any of them held out or opted out the films still would have happened In fact arguably the only person critical was William Shatner. When TOS was going to be a relaunched TV series in the 70's Nimoy opted out. Chekov was as important as the other secondary characters. That is to say not very, nostalgic aside. Scotty would have been the most important of the secondary characters Rand and Kyle were in the films too but most people won't even know who they are. I always liked Chekov a lot as a kid so don't get me wrong. But let's be realistic. In the new film series he shouldn't have even appeared until this third movie.
  2. I think major character is a bit of a stretch for Chekov. TOS was never an ensemble until the films.
  3. Here's another thing Cena is bad at: calling spots. My goodness. He's practically yelling spots out tonight. Brutal.
  4. His character in these films is rather minor. In that respect it doesn't matter what they do but if it was me I'd not recast and keep the character alive in the universe by way of reassignment. In that way they Honor the actor. The third film is in the can so they don't have to worry for awhile. No guarantee of a 4th. Although as gruesome as it sounds Anton's death will surely result in a few extra bucks for the films box office
  5. Just posted this on the NHL on Rogers thread but it must have predated the NHL forum. Can mods merge and bring over to this forum from the bombers one?
  6. George Stroumboulopoulos won’t return as host of Hockey Night in Canada next season, sources tell the Star. His replacement will be the man he replaced. Industry insiders say Ron MacLean is expected to return to the show’s No. 1 seat just two seasons after Stroumboulopoulos was hired with much fanfare in the wake of Rogers’ $5.2-billion acquisition of NHL broadcasting rights. Prior to that, MacLean occupied the job from 1986 until 2014. Since then, he has hosted Sunday night Hometown Hockey broadcasts and worked Saturdays alongside Don Cherry on Coach’s Corner. It’s expected he will continue those roles in addition to resuming the main HNIC hosting gig — the highest-profile position in Canadian sports broadcasting. The ouster of Stroumboulopoulos marks a strategic about-face for Rogers, which sublicenses Hockey Night in Canada to CBC. In 2014, executives remade the iconic Saturday night show while speaking of the need to bring it to a younger demographic.
  7. Good young actor no telling if there was going to be a 4th anyway. I'm not sure id recast. The role isn't critical. I might write Chekov out in a way to Honor the actor rather then replace him. Very sad.
  8. If I'm Vegas and Toby was left unprotected I'd take a long hard look. Probably not many top two d men are going to be left unprotected. Jets could gamble they wouldn't take him but that is also a slap in the face to the player to a degree
  9. I agree. Jets will say $4m based on youth and play. Agent will say $6m based on projections and ceiling and buying up free agency. Meet in the middle to a degree. Make cash lower for he first half and higher the second I'll say 7 years at $38m
  10. If the jets are willing to lose Toby they could trade him to Vegas (assuming Toby was willing) for future considerations and that would be picking someone the jets were more willing to lose and not lose someone the jets have to expose but want to keep
  11. Another post name calling people. What's wrong with you lately? Im sure Basslicker (like myself) can take it. But it really brings down a discussion when posters resort to that childish behavior. You can do a lot better.
  12. Actually you're partially right. I didnt see your reply to my post. So when you and Basslicker went back and forth and you explained your reasoning for calling someone an idiot, I wondered if it was my post and I looked back. Defeating your own argument by calling me self-righteous is silly and lame. I always admit when Im wrong or when someone makes a point I consider valid. If you're making arguments and you feel you're wrong, then that's your right but I think its somewhat silly. I generally dont argument positions unless I think my opinion is relevant or my position is correct. If that's self-righteous, great! Im right more often than not. Oh well.
  13. I hope Teemu Selanne is there on behalf of the Jets to hand Laine his jersey.
  14. That's quite the argument you've made there. You realise you've now defeated your original point, right? Ill consider it a debate victory. Next topic please.
  15. Interesting development. I guess the brothers are businessmen who see this as a massive return on investment. But Im not sure I wouldnt want to just keep making money and own it. Hard to turn down $4b though. So that would give Dana White about $400m.
  16. Goligoski is a good addition for Arizona, who have something like $18 million to spend just to reach the salary floor. They could offer sheet Trouba! lol
  17. Cena isnt restricted to having less than great matches. He isnt restricted to being awkward in the ring or not hitting the ropes very well. WWE does have a "style". For example AJ Styles works different in WWE then he did in New Japan. But he's still light years ahead of Cena. Certainly, Cena's workrate ability doesnt diminish his star stature. Just as it didnt for Hogan, Rocky or Austin. Michaels was a 5-star worker but was a poor drawing champion. Nash was neither a good worker or a big star but they tried to make him the next Hogan. If Perfect, Rude and Steamboat came along today, all would probably be world champions. Actually all three were world champions, just not in WWE.
  18. Here are some more details on it: http://www.f4wonline.com/wwe-news/jerry-lawler-fiancee-arrested-domestic-assault-suspended-wwe-214786 The mug shots seem to indicate visible damage to Lawler and none to her. Not that it means anything. But Lawler is legitimately one of the really nice guys in the business. Hopefully this isnt that. Cops arrested both, unable to determine who was the aggressor. WWE policy is to suspend. And if convicted its an automatic release. If I had to guess, I'd say the issue ends up "resolved". Also Lawler dating a 27 year old hottie? Respect.
  19. If mma was where it is now when he graduated he would have been the biggest UFC star of all time.
  20. I was being facetious. He's very good at smartly working a basic match but for the time he's been in the business, he's actually very poor. His general mechanics are awkward. But he usually works people who are either very good workers (AJ, Punk, Hunter etc) or guys who can at least have good basic matches where you can use smoke and mirrors (story telling) to hide it. I dont hate Cena at all. But his limitations are very apparent and while he is a huge star, there are guys who, with the push he's received for years, had/have the chance to be huge stars too.
  21. Didn't the Bombers have his neg rights? He wasn't going to play anything less than the NFL. He's the type who sees a challenge and either overcomes it or fails and moves on. The Vikings liked his athleticism and asked him to play in Europe and he said no. If I recall...
