  2. Yeah funny that he's going to wear the Maple Leaf in UFC. Must really love Canada.
  3. Posts like the last few that shows this site needs a DISLIKE button! ;-)
  4. The radical Muslims want there to be backlash against Muslims though. Thats part of their schtick. Create war between Muslims and non-Muslims. Ofcourse there will be racist dirt bags who blame all Muslims. I do wonder, however, about how this guy was vetted by G4S (where he would carry a gun) even while under investigation by the FBI. Was he less vetted because of a desire not to be seen as scrutinizing a Middle Eastern person?
  5. Opinions differ ofcourse. I thought Clerks 1 & 2 were both terrible. Its not difficult to write really offensive stuff for shock value. Kevin Smith just strikes me as a guy who does that. Like a hack comedian who rattles off racist or offensive jokes. Anyone can do that.
  6. Comments from the shooters father (from rolling stone): The father also addressed his son's actions in a video posted on Facebook. "I don't know what cause this," he said, according to a translation from The New York Times. "I did not know and did not understand that he has anger in his heart." In addition, The Washington Post reports that the elder Mateen declared, "God himself will punish those involved in homosexuality. This is not for the servants [of God]." Yup, sure is a mystery where the shooter learned his beliefs.
  7. Checked prices again late Friday and saw New York New York had dropped. Booked the trip so it's done. Now...still considering Britney...
  8. Im not. His writing is very rough and amateurish. He occasionally hits on an idea that allows for an easier writing gig. Personally, my favorites are Chasing Amy (which is a really great move but also has some rough moments) and Zack & Miri. The rest are garbage. To each his own though! I guess his better films are helped in large part due to having better actors.
  9. Billy Corgan is the new minority owner of TNA. Proving that Billy Corgan subscribes to the idea that a fool and his money will soon be parted.
  10. I think he can write like a million high school creative writing class students can write. Even his best films are really rough and amateurish in many ways. He's definitely a guy who is vastly over-rated.
  11. Well his point of the Cali arrest was linking it to anti-gay I think, which is somewhat of a fair observation at least so far as people needing to be vigilant during Pride events taking place. If this happened a few days before our Pride event, there would certainly be heightened security and vigilance, even here
  12. Motivation is always relevant. Whether it was radical Islam or homophobia, its relevant. Those who want to kill in the name of anything, including radical Islam may not obey gun laws but that doesnt mean as a society we should throw in the towel and not try to restrict assault rifles from being legally obtained. There can no longer be an argument against restricting these types of firearms. if the NRA feels so strong in their position, let them speak right now to defend it. Again, there can no longer be any argument against restricting these types of firearms. There is no need, be it hunting, personal protection or collecting, for any civilian to have legal access to these weapons. It must be stopped. Period.
  13. Ofcourse ISIS is a problem. US reliance and additiction to advanced weaponry doesn't negate ISIS. Whether it's a factor in this shooting or not is really a moot point. There will always exist crazy losers bent on murder regardless of motivation. Wrapping oneself in the flag and saying darn it every American has a right to the most lethal killing machines they can get is idiocy.
  14. I think he has a chance to. But if the Jets go with Trouba as LHD so the top four are Trouba-Buff and Engstrom-Myers then Morrissey has to unseat Stu for the 3LHD spot. And Morrissey can be sent down. Stu can't.
  15. Sure but why not make a good one? Oh yeah cause Kevin Smith can't write. God only knows how he lucked into Chasing Amy. He should have quit then and there.
  16. If this isn't the time to talk about it, I don't know when is. Very horrific tragedy.
  17. Yeah I'd suspect him calling 911 and claiming allegiance to ISIS is why its being investigated as terrorism. Not sure the defence of radical Islam matters in this discussion. The key thing is to defend his right to have an assault rifle. Clearly a weapon needed for hunting...or protection...or something. Oh yeah, its easier to cut through 50 people with an assault rifle then a hand gun. Assuming its not an organized attach by an organized terrorist group and its just some lone nut who used ISIS as an excuse, its still relevant. The fact it was a gay club is obviously relevant too. And the fact he was armed with weapons no civilian needs or should have access to is very relevant. Another sad day in America. When will it end? Not in our lifetimes.
  18. They kept looking for the air France jet and it paid off. No amount is too much. Not just for the families but in solving a mystery that could impact other potential lives.
  19. Blah blah blah. The planet warms. The planet cools. Before humans. During humans. After humans.
  20. In theory I agree. But we know how long the jets forced Kane to stay here. Until buff basically made the decision for them.
  21. What would happen if you is more players on NMC then spaces allowed to protect?
  22. From the Globe & Mail: The NHL’s 31st team, in Las Vegas, is expected to be greenlit at the board of governors meeting on June 22 and begin play to start the 2017-18 season. That’s a key concern for general managers of the existing 30 teams, as they could lose a key player in order to fill out the new team’s roster. NHL commissioner Gary Bettman has pledged that any new expansion team will be given a more competitive roster than they have in the past. Las Vegas will be required to draft one player from every existing team, including at minimum at each position: three goalies, nine defencemen and 14 forwards. Some of the other parameters for an expansion team that were recently released to teams include: Teams cannot reacquire players they trade after Jan. 1, 2017 prior to Jan. 1, 2018. This is to prevent teams from entering arrangements to “hide” players from the expansion draft. There will likely be a lot more guidelines as part of this rule. Teams have to expose at least two forwards and one defenceman who have played either 40 games in the previous season (2016-17) or 70 games in the previous two seasons (2015-17). Teams can only lose a max of one player. The expansion team must select players that have a total value of between 60 and100 per cent of the 2016-17 salary cap. The expansion team can’t buy out anyone it picks in the expansion draft until the following off-season (2018). he expansion team will be given the same draft lottery odds as the team that finishes third last in the league and cannot pick later than sixth in the 2017 NHL entry draft. It’s possible the expansion team could end up with the first overall pick, if it wins the lottery. Teams must protect players that have no-movement clauses active in the 2017-18 season. No-movement clauses active in 2016-17 will have no impact. There will likely be exceptions made for players with no-movement clauses who are out with career-ending injuries (i.e. Ryane Clowe and Nathan Horton). Teams are not expected to be forced to protect those contracts. These guidelines are in addition to previously determined rules, the biggest of which was that all players with two years or less of pro hockey experience are exempted from the draft. Teams will have a choice between protecting seven forwards, three defencemen and one goaltender (11 players) or eight skaters and one goaltender (nine players). The second option allows for teams to protect four defencemen but forces them to expose three more forwards in order to do so.
