  1. Whats the question? Why doesnt he immediately say "No, Im not racist?"
  2. Ideally we end up with a young talented top four D. But if you trade Trouba you get the best available asset in return. If that's #4 and that results in another stud forward, so be it. It allows other assets to be traded for D help
  3. Stories breaking of Star Wars: Rogue One undergoing massive re-shoots. The official word is its normal tweaks but some reports are saying its actually half the film that is being re-shot over six weeks. The action is reportedly all great but the character and tone are all wrong. Film opens in December so timing is an issue...
  4. I dont get the sense he's "arrogant" so much as confident and having fun with it.
  5. Seems like some bloggers are bored as I am seeing stories about how Laine might be too Kane-like for Winnipeg.
  6. According to the morning show on 1290, we've all been pronouncing Laine wrong. It's "Line". They played a clip of Laine introducing himself.
  7. A generally dead crowd but WWE has been fighting with the crowd for awhile so it's no surprise
  8. Part of the deal for Brock looks like WWE gets Paige Vanzant for SummerSlam
  9. I guess we have to trust the big brains.
  10. Another terrible edition of RAW other than the AJ/Cena confrontation and some good work in the matches, which don't mean anything in the big picture anyway. Notice Charlotte's complete lack of heat? Yup, its Steph's world, the rest of them are just living in it
  11. Rumor has it Punk will fight Aug 20th in Vegas. I'll be in town that weekend actually. Interesting how much press UFC will get off wrestling this summer.
  12. Ban didn't last long In a statement released tonight by UFC, the ban on Ariel Helwani and others at MMAFighting.com is no more. "Following a conversation with with the editorial team at SB Nation, UFC willl not prevent MMAFighting.com from receving media credentials to cover live UFC events. We respect the role the media plays in our sport and beyond, including MMAFighting's ability to report news. However, in our opinion, we believe the recurring tactics used by its lead reporter extended beyond the purpose of journalism. We feel confident our position has now been adequatly communicated to the SB Nation editorial team. UFC's goal as the world's leading mixed martial arts promotion is to cultivate interest in its world-class athletes and events, and deliver for the fans. We will continue to introduce this sport and its athletes to new fans across the world, and we will do so by working alongside media across all platforms." UFC had come under fire in the last 24 hours after Helwani took his story to several mainstream media outlets. The wording of the statement is curious as they are still clearly unhappy with Helwani.
  13. Wrestling Observer: MMA star and YouTube street fighting sensation Kevin "Kimbo Slice" Ferguson has passed away at the age of 42 Monday, reportedly due to heart failure. TMZ reported on Monday evening that Ferguson had been rushed to the hospital and was in a dire situation, and social media reports started to file in later that he had passed away. American Top Team, where Ferguson trained, confirmed the news on their Twitter account
  14. Kimbo Slice is dead. Heart failure.
  15. The rumour is Vegas. Both are soft landing spots but Vegas is probably more likely to pay the expansion fee so relocation to Quebec makes sense. Also Eklund reports the Rumor is not true. So it's true for sure.
  16. Anyone hear this? Supposedly lawless on 1290 reported the Hurricanes have borrowed $300m from the NHL and relocation is potentially imminent.
  17. I know Clinton had speeches prepared but that guy was a glorious public speaker that could enthrall a crowd. Even his speech at the democratic convention on behalf of Obama was just breathtaking.
  18. The Rapid Transit station is supposed to be open next year I believe...that will be the first development through there. They are already doing some work.
  19. It changes our strength from D to O. Im not sure if thats a great thing. No one wants to end up like the Oilers. But if its done, it would be because the Jets are comfortable with Toby, Buff, Morrissey & Myers. It might be a budget thing too. A big deal for Trouba gives them 4 D with significant contracts, although Myers' is a cash-friendly deal.
  20. There is a HUGE difference between the Heatley crash and Polanski plying a 13 year old with booze and drugs. But to your point, 5 more serious charges were dropped against Polanski as part of a plea deal, in part to spare the child from testifying. How much more should the DA capitulate for an admitted child sex abuser? This isnt about trying to prove a case. He already plead guilty, admitted what he did. If a person avoids jurisdiction long enough, he gets a free pass? When you attempt to evade police, you often end up with extra charges precisely to discourage people from evading in the first place. Not only should Polanski be properly sentenced for the crime (and he should be thankful he can only be sentenced based on the law at the time and not now) but should also be charged and sentenced for fleeing.
  21. if the Jets end up with #2, #4 and #22, that's a heck of a collection of first round selections. 4 in the top 36...
  22. I just realised Mark Hunt is Samoan. Roman to run in at UFC 200 and spear Brock.
  23. The other consideration is Brock might be older, but he's in much much better shape from a health stand point. The diverticulitis he suffered really hurt him the last few fights. He's said its under control now and he's way healthier and he has something to prove. The WWE part of this is intriguing. If Brock loses, especially by KO, it does hurt Brock. But probably hurts him more in Vince's eyes then the fans' eyes. And none of the McMahons other than Shane like MMA. If Brock wins, he's a bigger star for sure, if used properly, which in WWE means he taps out Hunt and then taps out to Roman at Summerslam. Id assume WWE is getting advertising included in this and probably a significant fee for allowing it.
  24. Wrestling Observer: Brock Lesnar will face Mark Hunt on the main card of UFC 200, announced on ESPN SportsCenter Monday morning in an interview with Hannah Storm. In the interview, Lesnar discussed the decision to return, saying how he originally went out had been bothering him for a long time. When asked about how the deal came down between WWE and UFC, he said it was "big business" and that it benefited everyone involved for him being at UFC. He called himself "the modern day Bo Jackson" and laughted that his pay "has a lot of 0s" behind it, but didn't disclose the amount. He is treating this as a one-off fight, but when asked about the future, he was non-commital. He plugged that he'll be at SummerSlam as well. When asked about the Ariel Helwani situation, he said he had no idea who that was.
