  1. Lemieux - Lowry - Dano will be a heck of a line eventually.
  2. The Carolina rumors remind me a lot of Atlanta before they moved. A lot of whispers and rumours with NHL denials. The only difference is Winnipeg was so gung ho that you had amateur detectives examining every little thing including tracking private aircraft routes to try and learn something. If there were people in Vegas or Quebec as determined as Winnipeg was, I bet there is a lot more fire to the smoke. Hurricanes want to sell. The owner probably doesnt care if its to someone in Carolina or to move it. Attendance is down. Team has lost money for years. The only issue is they have a lease agreement. Well...those things are meant to be broken. A few million year and there and a lease is bought out. Although, it sounds like they have people in Vegas and Quebec willing to fork over the expansion money...in that case you dont move a team. But the NHL REALLY wants to be in Portland where the NHL is secondary to their desire to bring in the NBA. I doubt there is half a billion dollars ready in Portland. So moving Carolina there might make more sense.
  3. It behooves the NHL to get into Vegas before the NFL does. If they want to be there as much as they seem to, they will do it ASAP. And Carolina moving isnt a bad idea at all...gives Vegas a leg up over expansion. Also, as far as expansion goes, keep in mind that nothing prevents a team from making a deal with the expansion franchise to *not* pick a player. So if you have to leave Enstrom exposed, you trade another asset to the expansion team for future considerations (ie. dont pick Enstrom) and the expansion team gets to pick someone else off your team AND gets another asset.
  4. Happy to see Laine is in NHL16. Makes dusting off that game a bit more fun. Since Im pretty good as the Jets I have acquired 6 other first round picks to hedge my bets.
  5. Could see Perreault LW on a skilled 3rd line then. Perreault - Lowry - Stafford (meh) or Perreault - Lowry - Ehlers...step down for Ehlers though. And Dano is probably better then Stafford. Perreault - Lowry - Dano is actually a good 3rd line that will control the puck. Stafford likely traded...what else can you do with him? Although he might score 30 playing with some combination of Scheif, Little, Connor, Ehlers, Laine.
  6. Too bad we couldnt shake Drouin lose when we had the chance (not that we really had a chance). it would still be a shame for Tampa to lose Stamkos for nothing. Hopefully they can get something by trading his rights before free agency.
  7. Assuming we draft Laine, there are decisions to be made. Left Wing depth is Ehlers, Perreault, Connor, Laine. Something has to give there. Right Wing Depth is Wheeler, Stafford, Armia, Dano. Something has to give there too. Perreault can switch to 3C but then you have Lowry and Copp competing for one center position. Its possible Connor starts the year with the Moose just by virtue of giving him top line minutes. I'd suspect something breaks around training camp. An extra body or two might be going. Armia could end up on the Moose with the idea he's the first call up and Ehlers switches to RW. Regardless, probably the third line will be a third scoring line rather then the first checking line. And the fourth line should be a very difficult line to play against, even if they arent scoring.
  8. Apparently the Boston Airport thing was some nosy fans over-reacting. WWE was very hot about it but everything blew over by that afternoon once WWE spoke with Airport Police. Flair wasn't drunk. He simply tripped and injured himself. At least that is the official story that WWE believes. No heat for it at all. By all accounts he's been on his best behavior since returning to manage to Charlotte. I almost think he is more likely to get into trouble when he doesnt have a regular gig. Probably the happiest he is, is when he's on the road with WWE. WWE is also a lot different now. The party atmosphere is a lot less then it was. There are office people and agents all over the place and the agents are held accountable if they let things go. For example, a few years back Flair physically attacked Eric Bischoff and Arn Anderson got in more trouble because he was there and let it happen.
  9. I think Edmonton trades 4 because taking a D-man there would be over-valuing a D player. So they trade down to get something now and still get a good player. I dont think the Jets make any moves but if they do, it will be if someone they really like falls from 8-15 and they feel they can leverage #22 and something else to move up and grab someone they really value. On the other hand, they have lots of mid-6/bottom-6 depth and someone is going to have to be moved eventually... But I think they'd just as soon open camp with too many guys fighting for spots.
  10. I think Jets management has been careful not to admit to "rebuilding". They say "draft and develop" though. and in recent interviews Maurice has been pretty open about saying there is a plan here and its to grow together, all secret code for "building" (not really re-building). And that means letting young players make mistakes and learn then signing aging vets that might get you a couple more goals and a couple more wins. The plan is to win less now and a lot more later then a little bit more now and who knows what later.
  11. I hope WB is paying attention and realize that what BvS needed was not "funny". Just "better".
  12. Did I miss where we traded stemp for stafford?
  13. Perhaps some of us were wrong about Drouin. And Stamkos for that matter
  14. Any discussion that contains "we should have signed Stemp" is dead on arrival.
  15. There is probably a better chance the Jets don't take Laine than the Leafs don't take Matthews.
  16. Demolition should be Hall of Fame bound sooner or later. Ax sued WWE and won so that hurts his chances a bit.
  17. Speaking of aging, a promo from the still active original Demolition!
  18. Whats wrong with the Charlotte angle? She's over. The women are over. The matches are good. She's getting better every day, The thing with Flair is, this is what he wants to do. Sure, he's had money issues. But because he believes in living life to the fullest every day in the way he wants. There were stories when he was with TNA of them being on tour and Flair would pick up the bar tab for the entire crew....and then go to TNA and ask for an advance on his pay...and then pick up the tab again. He once said on RAW that he wants to die in the ring. And thats probably very true. The drinking seems more of a problem then before. When he was younger, he was famous for out partying everyone and then being the first guy in the gym the next morning. But his son's death also effected him a lot. I love the guy and definitely would prefer seeing him on TV every week than have him just disappear and we hear about his death ten years from now, alone and bitter.
  19. Ben Affleck has been named Executive Producer of Justice League. Interesting in that the film is already shooting. Could mean nothing or could mean WB is planning for life after Snyder. If Justice League is as bad as BvS, Affleck will be the new DCEU guru I think....
  20. Selanne will be in town later in the season. Perhaps the Jets can bring him in early to spend some time with the kid. Having Armia here will probably help a lot too.
  21. Interesting. Is there an NFL coaches Union or did they have to make individual deals with each coach? would love to see coaching staff hiring and firing added to NHL with different coaches bringing different styles of play and having a positive (and negative) impact on player performances.
