In todays NHL you don't see many "suited to the role" 4th lines anymore. It's a good place for young players to get sheltered minutes and provide depth scoring without much pressure. Lots of teams trying to go with 3 offensive lines and one checking line these days. Ehlers doesnt strike me as suited to a checking line.

This is madness CNN (CNN)America's highest-profile county clerk, Kim Davis, returned to work Monday vowing to deny marriage licenses to same-sex couples. But that didn't stop Carmen and Shannon Wampler-Collins from successfully walking out of the Rowan County, Kentucky, clerk's office with a marriage license in hand. Monday was Davis' first day back in her office after spending five days in jail for defying a court order and refusing to give licenses to same-sex couples. Before starting her workday, Davis appeared defiant, saying she will not issue any marriage licenses that go against her religious beliefs -- but she left the door open for her deputies to continue giving out marriage licenses to same-sex couples as long as those documents do not have Davis' name or title on them. The marriage license that the couple received said "pursuant to federal court order" on it, and instead of listing Davis' name and Rowan County, it says city of Morehead, the county seat. Davis' work-around -- not to sign licenses but not to interfere with her deputies if they do so -- produced more questions than answers. She acknowledged she is not sure about the legality of licenses altered in such a way. On her first day back at work, Davis read a statement calling for state authorities to find a solution to accommodate her religious beliefs. "Effective immediately, and until an accommodation is provided by those with the authority to provide it, any marriage license issued by my office will not be issued or authorized by me," Davis said. In the meantime, she has offered what she considers an interim solution, but it is unclear if it passes legal muster. U.S. District Judge David Bunning "indicated last week that he was willing to accept altered marriage licenses even though he was not certain of their validity," Davis said. "I, too, have great doubts whether the license issued under these conditions are even valid."

Cant see Ehlers on the 4th. Armia maybe...But generally you dont just slot in the 10th, 11th, 12th best guys onto the 4th. Its guys suited to that role.

Jets Remove Scoreboard

I thought it looked smaller than I anticipated too. But I guess its all screen whereas the old one was a big contraption that was only partially screen and the rest was frames and advertising. It definitely has a cleaner look. Someone said the power ring is larger and in a different spot too. With the new in-house HD video command centre, I imagine it will look pretty cool with all the video, lights, smoke etc going. -
Seems like the heat is on the NHL for having a double standard for RIchards and Voynov. Gee one guy is over-paid and his contract is an albatross...oh look, we can terminate his contract over a reasonably minor infraction of which he has yet to be convicted. The other guy, brutally assaults his wife, is convicted, goes to jail and is kept under contract and the NHL even provides the team with Cap relief. On a side note, here is an update on Voynov: He has been accused of choking, kicking, and punching his wife, Marta Varlamova, and it was even said the he threw her into a TV,[11] however, according to TMZ, his wife has since written a letter assuming the blame for the entire incident and requested that Voynov not be charged.[12] On July 2, 2015, Voynov pleaded no contest to the charges against him and was sentenced to 90 days in jail. He received three years probation. Oh and he's not in custody of immigration and might be deported. It was his wife's fault that he choked, kicked, punched her. Uh huh. By the way, here is the NHL's rules on suspending players: Under section 18-A.5, "The league may suspend the player pending the league's formal review and disposition of the matter where the failure to suspend the player during this period would create a substantial risk of material harm to the legitimate interests and/or reputation of the league." This allows them to suspend a player regardless of formal charges. If the Grand Jury doesnt reconvene until October, takes at least a couple of weeks to hear testimony and reach a verdict and then X amount of time for the DA to review the decision, we're well into the season. I cant imagine the NHL would let Kane start the season with an on-going investigation. The other possibility is the victim suddenly decides after *ahem* meeting with Kane's lawyers that she no longer wishes to proceed, prompting the DA to suspend the investigation. That would be a nasty stink on the player and the league.

I'd love to be a fly on the wall in Maurice's office. He said they have four mock line ups he's working with. It would be interesting to see where they slot guys in before training camp. Have to assume Copp is 4C. But with Chevy saying Ehlers, Petan, Armia are all expected to push for spots, it makes you wonder.
-
Petan is so much easier because he can play for the Moose so there's little risk or even decision-making. If he looks good, start him on the Jets and if he falters, he can "condition" with the Moose. Ehlers is tougher. I'd suspect, unless he really flops, he plays 8 or 9 games with the Jets at least. Needs to show well or back to Junior. Way too good for junior and he's made it clear he doesnt want to be there. But he has to make the Jets to stick around. Petan can be a bubble player and still make it.

Its a good thing we have a pretty young D Corp. Its important for Morrissey to end up as a top 4 guy. And thankfully Chiarot blossomed. With Myers, Trouba, Enstrom...and hopefully Morrissey, its a decent and fairly young top 4. bottom 2 should be fairly easy to work out through drafting, development, trades, free agency.
-
Maybe Petan expects to score on every rush lol Im very curious about Axel. Wasnt he considered a major project but with tons of upside? If he has any skill at that size, even if he isnt a bruiser, he could have value with the reach and strength on his skates. Worse case scenario, he might have value in a trade if another team sees the size and salivates at a reclamation project.

Games are meaningless. No need to be concerned.

Those are great notes. Armia is a bit of an enigma. He could be a game changer if he rises to the occasion.

Supposedly one of Maurice's line combinations has Ehlers with Ladd and Little. But I agree. Would not be surprised to see Ehlers-Lowry-Burmi. Speed, defensively sound, offensive threat, puck possession.

http://m.torontosun.com/2015/09/11/patrick-kane-grand-jury-expected-to-reconvene-in-two-weeks Interesting. So there were settlement talks that apparently broke down. And there's a saying, a grand jury would indict a ham sandwich. So odds are the jury will hand down an indictment and barring a civil settlemt that chills the DA's office, Kane will be charged.
-
I think that is often debated. He shoots left so you'd assume he plays LW but Im pretty sure I recall him playing RW for the Jets. Lets chalk up to his ability to play all three positions. Which is another feather in his cap.

Burmi hating something? Imagine that. Good offensively? It's been a while but not sure I'd use the "good" word. Talent isnt always purely statistical. Not too many people think Burmi *isn't* offensively talented.

Well he was using the smelling salts before kick off I bet riders wished they had traded for Nichols a few weeks ago but it sounds like Glenn is ready to come back

Marcel Bellefeuille - When does he get axed
The Unknown Poster replied to Brandon's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Seemed like trying to get walker the ball in space made sense but they got away from that. Went back to run up the middle into brick wall -
I don't believe burmi plays 4C at all. He'd hate that and he's too good offensively
