  1. Can we really fire marcel and salvage the season?
  2. Pretty tough. I haven't seen the gane yet. But it's embarrassing. Is it just we lost our starting QB so now we will be lucky to win another game? Why are our back ups way worse than everyone else's? Caught a bit on the radio and Bob Irving seemed perplexed when Mike was patting a player on the back for a bad penalty. I like Marcel but even if he was dealt a bad hand isn't it time for something to be done? He has to go.

  5. Is lock trouba up as long as possible or a deal that leaves a year or two of RFA so we can leverage that into the 8 year deal later and end up guaranteeing he's here for 10+ years.
  6. I think what Fraser is saying is we should vote for Harper and insist he keeps running deficits.
  7. Sweep - I have no idea what role the Union had in the share plan. My experience with unions has been mostly bad. When I was young, I worked for a company that was unionized and we made minimum wage. And paid Union dues. So in reality we made less than minimum wage. My current Union has given people bad advice at times. They once gave me bad advice too but I rejected it. The one thing they did for me was argue that I could not be sent home without pay without prior notice. So I ended up getting paid for four hours. During the last negotiation there was some push back from Members about the unions paranoia and secrecy and lack of communication. But the Union leadership is essentially a dictatorship. So there's very little you can do. On the flip side the compNy once offered a terrible contract. It was so bad it actually made many employees who didn't care suddenly care. So you wonder if there was no Union would the company treat it's employees that bad or was the offer a very low starting point because there was a Union and everything has to be negotiated. My friend works for a company with no Union. Has better sick benefits. Better vacation higher wages. Way better bonuses. More opportunity for advancement. Share plan. Pension. Etc. They just deleted his position and offered him an opportunity to move eleeware in the company or a $70,000+ severance. So I can't say I'm a fan of unions.
  8. My company also has a share plan. I believe it's up to 6% of salary can be used on shares and company matches 25%. So it's pretty good. Dividend goes right into more share purchases too. We are also unionized and I detest my Union. They did help me out once though. But I think it's more that they fight every little thing so once in awhile they win.
  9. @theScore: Sabres are reportedly offering UFA defenseman Cody Franson a 2-year contract. http://t.co/TLrLTIgCbghttp://t.co/FwDFDR7OVU
  10. @MSmithCanes: #Canes, Elias Lindholm agree to two-year contract extension. $2.5 million in 2016-17, $2.9 million in 2017-18. More: http://t.co/ILLjlR8cAE
  11. NBA legend Darryl Dawkins -- nicknamed "Chocolate Thunder" for his monster dunks -- has died at the age of 58, according to WFMZ. Dawkins was the first basketball player to be drafted to the NBA straight outta high school when he was selected by the Philadelphia 76ers in 1975. Dawkins played in the NBA until 1989 ... and also spent time playing with the Harlem Globetrotters. The guy was a pioneer of the monster dunk -- and threw down with such force that he shattered TWO backboards in 1979. 13. I actually VERY much dislike how the government decides when Im married and not me. I had a **** of a CRA guy call me once and tell me if I lied to him, he'd have people rummage through my garbage to prove I was living "common law". And I bet we all know people, some on assistance, who have way more kids than they can afford. I dated a girl on assistance years ago. She had one child and lived in MB Housing complex. She said people there were always getting pregnant because they wanted more money and bigger homes.
  14. So you agree it helps the wealthy? hahahaha posted from my phone instead of desktop. Freudian slip. My parents are *not* wealthy. lol
  15. Kep seeing people whine about income splitting and how its just for the wealthy. My parents are wealthy and it benefited them. Unless we have a new definition of "wealthy"
  16. @CBCNews: Justin Trudeau says Liberals plan 3 years of deficits to push infrastructure http://t.co/R6DfUpF1v3http://t.co/pTWJRSrD7G Even if one feels this has merit I can't possibly see how this will resonate with the average voter.
  17. I dont care if the GST is 20%. But I want my income tax reduced. I'd be fine with a small increase to gas tax if the funds actually went to infrastructure.
  18. Here is the liberals budget plans: @CBCAlerts: Clarifying: Liberals predict $10-billion deficits in EACH of next 2 years.
  19. Donald Trump trounces GOP field, Biden leads general election match-ups cnn.com Vice President Joe Biden fares better against top GOP candidates in hypothetical general election match-ups than Hillary Clinton, according to a new national survey. Just 7% said they would vote for former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, a record low since November 2013. Those results show just how far both Trump -- now the Republican front-runner -- and Bush -- the old one -- have come. Bush led national polls for much of the first half of 2015, but was quickly dislodged by Trump, after he announced his presidential ambitions this June. About 1-in-4 GOP voters say they would never vote for Trump, topping the field. Bush comes in second with 18%. Clinton still leads the Democratic race at 45% support from registered Democrats, followed by Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders at 22% and Biden -- who is currently mulling a 2016 bid -- at 18%. But Biden, currently sporting the highest favorability rating among any 2016 candidates polled of either party, tops Trump 48% to 40%, compared to Clinton, who beats Trump 45% to 41%. Biden also beats Bush, 45% to 39%, compared to Clinton, who beats Bush 42% to 40%. ***I guess this shows how early it is. Because Joe Biden? lol Wow.
  20. If he had his own legal supply, he'd have the prescription on the bottle. Unless he had 8 pills in an unmarked pill container, which people might do on vacation. Id suspect being a wealthy guy, he didnt bother getting a script and simply went "somewhere" and bought X amount. I wonder if the defence will be that he is addicted and seeking treatment and has been punished enough. Or if he will have his personal doctor say he had a legitimate need and just couldnt get his script re-filled in a timely fashion. As far as his NHL career goes, they say he's an *******... when you need a second chance, it pays to not be an *******. I wonder if the Jets would have had interest in him if this hadnt happened. And if so, if he gets his **** together, would they be open to a reclamation project.
  21. NHL’s Mike Richards Formally Charged with Drug Possession RCMP have charged a high profile NHL player with drug possession after he tried to enter Canada a couple months ago. Mike Richards, 30, was attempting to cross at the Emerson, Manitoba port of entry on June 17 when he was intercepted by Canada Border Services Agency officers. The Kenora native was turned over to RCMP and arrested. He has since been charged with possession of a controlled substance and will appear in Emerson court on September 10. Reports say Richards was in possession of the prescription drug oxycodone. Richards most recently played for the Los Angeles Kings and is the former captain of the Philadelphia Flyers. He’s currently an unrestricted free agent. ***Im curious as to why it took so long to charge. Was it because Richards was being given time to prove he had a prescription or is it merely the matter of a former charge? In many cases, people dont realise that when arrested, you're not formally charged until your first appearance in court which is why up here most people are released on a promise to appear and the media will often not release names until that first court date. A lot of charges get dropped in that first month or so. As a big fan of Percocet, I can understand why Richards would have some. The issue is going to be, did he have a prescription? Did he have a legitimate need for this pain killer? Is this abuse of the drug? In my own experience, its difficult to get Percs and if I didnt have any (actually convinced a doctor to give me a pretty good supply for an ear infection of all things) when my knee flares up, I'd gladly "borrow" a few from a friend. I'd try to be smart enough not to cross an international border though.
  22. Supposedly the big Jets logo you can see sits inside the scoreboard and then there is a flat one on the bottom. But I've heard it all raises/lowers independently which would be cool.
  23. Lol worst prime minister ever. Talk about hyperbole. Just listed 100 things the Harper government did that were positives. A lot of people seem to be anti government rather than anti harper but they don't know the difference. A lot of them can't articulate their opposition. Many cant say why harper is bad or the others are good. A lot of people just get caught up in the social media stuff. Harper has been good for Canada. If we're lucky he wins another majority. Shudder to think of Mulcair with a Majority.
  24. Tracker, come on. Scary Harper is so ten years ago @globepolitics: Even with NDP leading polls, Conservatives projected to win more seats http://t.co/XxNWh88qOz#cdnpoli
  25. Figures. The anti conservatives nuts are lying again. The more in depth this goes the more clearly it shows the Cons are the best party for the job.
