  1. I'm actually more center myself. I used to be far more center in years past. So I'm pretty realistic about coverage.
  2. It's the way it is. Maybe not necessarily as far left as the NDP. Look at the U.S. where people deride Fox which is right leaning and incredibly popular because it's the one news station that is right leaning. Most mainstream media is left.
  3. It served it's purpose. But it no longer serves that purpose. It should be spun off. If it's as popular as they say it should be able to run independently.
  4. AJ Lee! And was that Jim Neidhart?
  5. Produces a lot of it too. Not so much
  6. A real shame considering Winnipeg's solid reputation for supporting major events. Maybe the press from this poor news will spur some ticket sales.
  7. Im not a devout Ezra follower but since he's been with rebel media or whatever its called, he's had a lot of great segments. Cannot fathom why CBC still exists as a taxpayer funded entity. Its funny that people attack Harper as a dictator but there's a real possibility he loses this election. He should have turfed the CBC when he had the chance... but he didnt.
  8. I know many people here that have said if the Bombers are in it, ofcourse they'd go, but they'd just as soon watch it on TV then brave the elements. I wonder if they will discount tickets to get an advanced sell out or leave some for walk ups. If the weather is "nice", it would help. The amount of money local business would make if the Riders were in it would be tremendous.
  9. Bad news guys. That nutjob Ezra is making sense again. http://www.therebel.media/watch_quebec_tv_host Kidding aside this is an important issue.
  10. Winnipeg is a notorious "walk up" town. Late buyers. Plus its early. Dont X amount of fans wait to see if their team is in it before grabbing tickets? Riders making it would be the best scenario for Winnipeg.
  11. Paul Friesen ✔ @friesensunmedia Logistics force half-time show for 103rd Grey Cup to north end concourse, not on field as usual. #Bombers Is that an issue with getting a large show in and out of IGF in a timely fashion?
  12. http://www.winnipegsun.com/2015/08/21/smallest-grey-cup-crowd-in-decades The 103rd Grey Cup game will be the poorest attended CFL championship in at least 17 years. And if ticket sales, currently at a snail's pace, don't pick up significantly over the next 12 weeks, the crowd could be the smallest for a Grey Cup in four decades. The Winnipeg Sun has learned the host Blue Bombers have quietly reduced capacity for the Nov. 29 classic to just 36,634, down some 3,400 from the original plan to expand Investors Group Field to 40,000 seats. It's the smallest Grey Cup capacity since the 1970s. The temporary seating planned for the north-end concourse has been scrapped, leaving a temporary grandstand only on the south concourse. Construction on the seating began this week. The reason for the reduced capacity is unclear. The Bombers say president Wade Miller is out of town this week and not available for comment. But a team spokesman told the Sun on Friday the pre-game and half-time entertainment will set up on the north-end concourse instead of the usual location on the field. That decision has obviously been a hasty one: Ticketmaster on Friday continued to sell seats that don't exist in temporary seats in that north end. The team spokesman says fans who've bought or continue to buy tickets in the north end will be relocated to the south end. The Bombers say ticket sales are at 25,576, or around 70% of capacity. Even a sellout of 36,634 would be the smallest crowd to attend a Grey Cup since 1998, when Winnipeg, wallowing in the Jeff Reinebold years, hosted the game and drew just 34,157. The reasons for this year's slow ticket sales once again revolve around the performance of the home team. The Bombers have a losing record (3-5) after dropping four of their last five games. In addition, Saskatchewan is so far out of the playoff picture fans there, usually a rabid bunch, aren't buying up seats like they otherwise would. If Winnipeg doesn't reach capacity this year, the crowd would rival those from the mid-1970s.
  13. @friesensunmedia: #Bombers have quietly reduced capacity for 103rd Grey Cup, to 36,634. North end temporary stands scrapped. Just 25,576 tics sold.
  14. Thats a pretty good shirt. Terrible storyline. lol But Amell is very athletic and seems like a good guy. its actually a tag match now though. SummerSlam this year is being pushed like WrestleMania. Should be good.
  15. Definitely back to the Colts. I suppose the idea of the Jets telling Stemp they want to go younger *could* mean they see the 4LW spot as Lemiuex's. They might see it as a spot for a guy like him to play and grow into a mid-six role. More so than a player like Ehlers or Petan who are more offensively gifted. But the Jets M.O. has always been develop. But they will take a player who is ready, like Trouba. So who knows. I see him back to the Colts though. Probably get the first few games with the Jets.
  16. Some interesting thoughts of Jets blogger Peter Tessier: The Winnipeg Jets aren’t Spending $$- Why? Sometimes you have to look at the bigger picture to discover nuances and details that are not readily apparent. In this case it was comment from James Mirtle that got me looking at the salary situation of teams. He was on TSN 1290 in Winnipeg a few days ago, providing his usually excellent insight, as he mentioned where the Jets were in the salary cap hierarchy of the NHL- 3rd last. RIght now the Winnipeg Jets sit with 12 million in cap space for this season. That’s a lot and it’s probably not because of the Canadian dollar. While its not clearly known how Jets co-owner David Thomson’s billions work their way towards the team assume he’s got enough money to cover currency arbitrage. With a .90 Canadian dollar the Jets payroll would be 68,551,450 in Canadian dollars based on a very generous exchange rate. At the current .76 mark versus the greenback the payroll difference is 79, 289,155 in Canadian dollars. I may be optimistic in my thinking but I would wager that the 5th Baron of Fleet as the 25th richest person on earth can handle that 11 million slip. Even if the Jets went all in to a 71 million US dollar payroll it would only add another 3.37 million in currency costs at today’s exchange rates on top of what they were already paying. Peanuts, especially when you see what those greedy Calgary owners want for their arena deal. So what’s holding the team back from spending? Perhaps it’s next year. Take all the existing contracts the Jets have on the books for next year Jets Cap and do the following: Add 6.2 million for Ladd and Byfuglien as they take identical deals Add 3.8 million for Schiefele (which may be low) Add 2.0 million for Lowry Keep Halischuk at 750k Keep Fraseer at 650k Keep a spot at 2.0 for Clitsome replacement Keep a spot at 1.05 for Harrison replacement Keep a spot at 1.0 for Pardy replacement Add Trouba at 5.0 million (which may be low) Before there is even another goalie slotted in to back up or displace Pavelec in his final year the Jets are at 69.23 million in cap space. It disappears quickly and thus do savings matter now knowing expenditures are coming? If you go to THIS LINK you will see the top end of the cap and it’s brought with teams in dicey cap situations. There’s no reason to think a deal is imminent between the Jets and one of the cap-strapped teams but… it does not mean there isn’t some talk going on, even if it amounts to nothing. Teams only have three ways to create cap space, buy out a player (which has to happen before July 1), waive a player and only get back 900k of space, or trade a player. Injuries do create ‘artificial cap space’ but I’m not going to suggest teams are creating cap space by injuring players, at least not yet. With the Gary Lawless tweet saying that the Jets and representatives for Buff and Ladd have not spoken for some time it raises questions amongst fans. Are the Jets going to make a deal and who has the cap problems to make a deal with the Jets? The problem of needing cap space and the benefit of having it are rarely linking teams together- it just looks nice. Trades and roster moves are still based on best fits and who can make the numbers work. There are teams who have to make some numbers ‘work’ and until the Jets extend Buff and Ladd or trade one of both, those two players and the Jets are going to be linked with many cap-strapped teams. Regardless it still doesn’t explain or shed light on when the Jets will start spending money though. To trade one or both of those players to a higher cap-spending team means something at least equal or greater salary is coming back. The balancing act continues but it’s not about the cap yet, more so two of the player the Jets may decide to keep or trade.
  17. http://www.cnn.com/2015/08/21/us/subway-jared-fogle-informant-child-pornography-allegations/index.html When Rochelle Herman first heard Jared Fogle's alleged off-color comments about young girls, she was so disturbed, she knew she had to do something, she said. "He told me that he thought middle school girls were so hot," Herman said. "He talked about sex with underage children," she said. "It was just something that he really, really enjoyed," she said. "I had two young children at the time, and he talked to me about installing hidden cameras in their rooms and asked me if I would choose which child I would like him to watch," she said. By admitting to the crimes, Fogle is accepting responsibility and attempting to make amends, his defense team said in a statement. His lawyers said he is also undergoing examination by sexual conditions experts with a goal of becoming healthy.
  18. The problem with buff is he is inconsistent and occasionally disinterested. He played forward and was good for a little while then struggled. Moved to D to make him happy and he was all world....for awhile then struggled.
  19. Then just trade him. He didn't want to play forward and won't sign here to play forward.
  20. Buff isn't hard to sign. He doesn't seem overly concerned where he plays. He signed a long term deal in Atlanta with the team for sale. He just wants money and term. If Philly or any team trades for him they will likely have a good idea what it will take. I'd strongly suspect a trade would be closely followed by an announcement of an extension.
  21. http://globalnews.ca/news/2176583/what-we-know-about-the-ndps-childcare-plan/?hootPostID=183b7a72712d91874cc23c6d331730fb NDP national day care program. Sounds great for parents. Who's going to pay for it? All of us. And the NDP are lying about how universal it will be and how many spots it will create.
  22. Oh god kill me now. Why why why. Hope that's false. I guess it would make Burmi happy...lol But why on earth would he want to be here? To play 4th line winger?
  23. PS: Floyd, I like her Buff to Philly suggestion. Philly has long been linked to Buff in trade rumours. And that Provorov looks great. Would cement our LHD for the next 15 years. getting Couturier would finally render the "which one was the better pick, Couturier or Schief" moot.
  24. Not sure the origin of this one, but chatter is Jets are one of the teams talking to Antropov...
  25. Well, sure, and I'd take a Lotto Max win.......... I think the ask is actually too low in this scenario.
