  3. http://www.latino-review.com/news/holy-batman-centric-dccu-batman-warner-bros-in-love-with-ben-affleck Interesting tidbits: Over the weekend, word got out that Warner Bros is ga-ga over Ben Affleck's turn as The Dark Knight in Zack Snyder's Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. There was a private screening held for the film- a screening which drew a standing ovation, and a ton of excitement specifically aimed at Affleck's work as the Caped Crusader. The buzz coming out of the screening is that WB/DC are so high on this new take on the iconic character- who Affleck recently referred to as American literature's Hamlet- that they want to make him the cornerstone of the entire DC Cinematic Universe. ...some have questioned the studio's plans for the future, with numerous reports of things being somewhat loose... Now that they're so confident that Affleck's Batman is "the definitive Batman," they can comfortably anchor the universe to him. Batman will be "the face" of the overall DC Cinematic world, much like Robert Downey Jr's Iron Man has the poster child for the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
  4. Maybe they do. But the fact that Blue Cross covers it and the Mayo Clinic acknowledges that it can be effective says something. I waded into this because I know people who have definitely been helped by homeopathy. For example, chronic bronchitis for which they were given prescription after prescription by the medical system. My grandfather thought he was sick. Was given a placebo, unbeknownst to him, and was much improved. Even if it's placebo effect, it can still be effective. Im not sure I'd want a federal government making investment in it a pillar of their platform. The health care industry could benefit from changes but more towards private delivery in my opinion. Although personally, I avoid taking chemicals as much as possible and I believe in the power of non-traditional care. My gf had a massage therapist she saw (who I now see as well) and she was one of those new-age spiritual people...very nice, very talented but she not only did traditional massage but other things too. Name escapes me but spiritual techniques. Long story short, we had a young dog that suffered a back injury, was paralyzed and needed surgery. We got him the surgery and along with traditional rehab, took him to this person who did a technique that never actually touched our dog's body. I was skeptical but I was sitting there as she "pulled" the bad energy out and saw various colours. I was reluctant to admit it... but I saw it. And it seemed to help our dog too. So Im not a detractor. I think using wi-fi as an example, maybe 100 years from now we will all realise there were harmful effects. But you're not putting the genie back in the bottle at this point. I think a national leader cant be publicly expressing her happiness over not having wi-fi due to its harmful effects...I think thats a bit goofy. The leader has to be a leader for all people. I dont mind having people pushing the government to be thoughtful on issues like climate change and whatnot, but May isnt a politician, she's a lobbyist.
  5. I don't really have a dog in the fight so I don't care. But the vast majority of people and experts come down on the side of "placebo".
  6. That Linda McQuaig also defended and endorsed Brit MP George Galloway who is anti-Isreal and once address Saddam and saluting his courage.
  7. What happens first? Walters loses patience with his HC or the HC loses patience with his assistants?
  8. Wanting federal money to support homeopathy is a big deal because it shows a willingness to waste public money on something with no benefit. The only effect it has is the placebo effect and there is no way quackery should be funded by the government. That the party policy supports this tells me that a vote for that party is wasted because it shows how poor their judgement is in a significant area. What else do they have these kinds of poor judgement on? FYI blue cross covers homeopathy. But I guess it's all a placebo effect just because you say it is. To be fair, most people say it is.
  9. http://m.torontosun.com/2015/08/09/patrick-kanes-alleged-rape-victim-reportedly-has-bite-marks-leg-scratch-source Patrick Kane's accuser had bite marks on her shoulders and a scratch on her leg, a source with knowledge of the rape investigation involving the NHLer reportedly told the Buffalo News. The News detailed the alleged victim's account of what she claims happened inside the Chicago Blackhawks star's Town of Hamburg (N.Y.) home last Sunday. According to the source, the woman alleges Kane, 26, invited her and a friend back to his home after meeting at a downtown Buffalo bar last weekend. Once there, the accuser claims Kane followed her into a room before allegedly overpowering her and raping her, the source told the News. The woman reportedly called relatives immediately after the alleged incident. She attended a hospital and a rape kit was conducted. The owner of SkyBar, where Kane spent a portion of Saturday night, confirmed to the News that he saw a woman paying close attention to the NHLer prior to the incident, which allegedly occurred around 4 a.m. Sunday morning. As a result of the investigation, Kane has hired lawyer Paul Cambria to represent him, according to the Associated Press. Cambria worked with Kane after the three-time Stanley Cup-winner was accused of assaulting a Buffalo taxi driver in 2009.
  10. If so that can be forensically linked to The perpetrator. It doesn't necessarily mean it wasn't consensual because some people are into that. But it would add another layer to the story that doesn't help Kane.
  11. That's something the NDP will eventually have to answer to. They want to be the party for jobs and economy while not supporting the oil and gas sectors. Not sure that flies in Canada. The NDP victory in Alberta should end up hurting the Feds.
  12. http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/politics/elizabeth-may-wages-war-against-wifi/article617404/?service=mobile The Green Party is waging war against WiFi pollution, and Elizabeth May is leading by example. Ms. May, who was the first Green candidate to win a seat in the House of Commons in the last election, took to Twitter on Wednesday lay out her concerns over “electromagnetic frequencies.” The Green Party’s main targets are so-called wireless “smart meters,” which are set to come into use in British Columbia to monitor the use of electricity. Writing on her Twitter account ( @ElizabethMay), the Green Party Leader said she was glad not to have WiFi at home, and joined ranks with parents who are concerned about the increased access to wireless Internet hookups in schools across Canada. “It is very disturbing how quickly WiFi has moved into schools as it is children who are the most vulnerable,” said Ms. May. Faced with critical reactions from some of her 28,700 followers, Ms. May said the World Health Organization lists electromagnetic frequencies as a “possible human carcinogen.” “I do not act without scientific info,” she said, as she called on Canadian authorities to adopt stronger controls on WiFi that are in place in Europe. However, Ms. May’s comments on the fact that the use of WiFi might be related to the “disappearance of pollinating insects” fuelled attacks over the soundness of her views. Still, the Green Party issued a news release shortly after Ms. May took on the issue in social media, calling for the cancellation of plans to introduce smart meters in British Columbia. “Wireless technology poses a potential risk to health and the environment and further research that is independent of industry funding is needed,” the Green Party said in its news release. The federal Greens are supporting the B.C. Greens on this file, relying on the studies of Magda Havas, an Associate Professor of Environmental and Resource Studies at Trent University. “With more frequencies being used, with the levels of radiation increasing, and with so little research on the long-term, low-level effects of this technology, we are creating a potential time bomb,” Ms. Havas said. “If smart meters are placed on every home, they will increase our exposure to radio frequency radiation -- a potential human carcinogen -- and this is both unwise and unsafe.” BC Hydro recently received its first shipment of smart meters, which transmit information about energy use several times a day. The smart meters will replace electro-mechanical meters in every home and business in the province by the end of 2012. Given health concerns, BC Hydro has decided to allow customers to relocate the meters on their properties at their own cost. “There are people who adamantly believe there are [health concerns.]They are our customers and we want to be respectful and ... responsive. We will do what is reasonable and, to the best of our ability, try to find a mutually acceptable solution,” Gary Murphy, chief project officer for the $930-million program, said earlier this month.
  13. The problem with people like May is they are so nutty that even if they occasionally stumble upon something that mighty mKe sense it's a fluke. She will buy and swallow every far left loonie idea. She kept agreeing with other leaders at the debate because her goal isn't in trying to win anything it's in tearing down Harper. The Green Party isn't a real party and she shouldn't have standing at the debates.
  14. Smart to hire a lawyer anytime the police want to question you. When the cops play the "only guilty people hire lawyers" game the best answer is "whenever a cop is investigated the first two things they do is call their union and their lawyer". It's not guilty people that hire lawyers. Smart people hire lawyers.
  15. Looks kind of stupid to me but I like Ryan Reynolds.
  16. Victim shaming. Just awful. If it comes out she lied then have at her. But how many women don't come forward because they know they will be dragged through the mud?
  17. Super friends was my favourite saturday morning cartoon.
  18. Oh I'm sure he'd make bail. He's rich. Surrender passport. Post a large bond. Although does he have a record or was his assault case tossed?
  19. He has not been charged. We are speculating about what the league might do. False accusations happen ofcourse. But it's kinda odd you'd suggest that if he is charged based on forensic evidence that it's more likely a false accusation. I'm not sure that is the greater likelihood. Hopefully there are no charges.
  20. He might potentially have trouble crossing the border if under serious charge. He could be forced to surrender his passport.
  21. Do you see a current problem with players being charged with serious offences that were proven to be false accusations?
  22. We watched whatever was one before school and at lunch. I Remember RRH. Not a fan. But loved Hercules. In my parents basement behind some panels is still a marker-drawn squiggle I said was "gargamel" but before I could spell. Transformers was big in the mornings. I remember after the movie came out the cartoon switched to the "new" transformers. Very cool Anyone remember Rambo? I think Gobots was a thing too Spider-Man. At lunch it was the CKY cartoons - yogi bear etc. when were a bit older it was Skiddlebits. After school it was Scooby Doo and the Flintstones. My friends were into GI Joe but I wasnt a big fan.
  23. You suspend him if he's charged based on the seriousness of the charges and strength of evidence. From a team perspective he's be a huge distraction. From a league perspective you don't employ people charged with such serious crimes. If he's found guilty you spent two years employing a rapist. The opposite scenario would mean the evidence was so flimsy charges shouldn't have been laid. Too serious to play around. Suspension. And if convicted the team can surely get out of the contract. The real drawback to the team is if it takes a long time to go to trial they are still paying him and whether it counts against the cap. It would seriously hinder the Hawks
  24. Yeah but Mulcair is looking the part in ways justin isn't. Still early though.
  25. The Justin photos with the young topless girls has got some play too. It doesn't bother me but it's pretty silly thing to do when it can be used to question judgement. Is he going to win more votes with that demo then he loses from people who find it creepy or unbecoming?
