  1. From Latino Review: No doubt "Jurassic World" did take this year's summer box office by storm with over $1.5 billion globally. Now Universal Pictures has said that there will be a sequel slated for June 22, 2018. The sequel will see stars Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard return, along with Spielberg as executive producer. "Jurassic World’s" director, Colin Trevorrow will write the script for the film but not direct. Hmmm...I have to say I enjoyed JW though it was no great shakes. It was certainly not as good as JP was. Where can they take a sequel? The "make a bigger dinosaur than the last" is kind of wearing thin. They can sell me a ticket right now if they announce Sam Neill is back.
  2. CNN headline now that she had pot in her system. Im not sure why that is relevant. Unless its meant to counter the family's assertion that she was a wonderful perfect person who never did anything...not that smoking pot makes you none of those things. But in cases like this families often have a hard time accepting their family member might have done it. Im not sure its a racial thing. Remember, the Trooper was giving her a warning and letting her go before things escalated. I think its a matter of a citizen pulling the "I know my rights" routine with a cop that a complex about being the big man.
  3. Doesnt that take them nicely to their out clause?
  4. Hmmm, Im not sure it's obvious they killed her. But if they did, it will come out. The FBI is investigating. Supposedly the video of the cell shows her going in and then no one coming and going until the time she is discovered. if true, that would pretty much confirm it. Some of the info coming forward might shed some light on her as being a bit troubled. Supposedly she said she had been suicidal in the past, had cut marks and wrote on Facebook that she thought she had PTSD. It might come to be that the police did nothing legally wrong at all. But the decision to escalate a minor traffic stop into an arrest eventually, if indirectly, led to her death.
  5. This is a major problem all over. You just know its some union-friendly contracts. They've been working on South Pembina for months now. This should be 24/7 construction zone until its done, like with the work they did on the Perimeter.
  6. Resolution to lease issue http://www.thescore.com/nhl/news/798491?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter They don't say what the actual resolution is though
  7. You've probably all heard the story of Sandra Bland, stopped by a Texas Trooper for failing to signal. The trooper and Bland end up having a tense verbal exchange and she is arrested even though the Trooper had decided to let her go with a warning. She ended up dying in jail a few days later as the result of an apparent suicide. http://www.cnn.com/2015/07/21/us/texas-sandra-bland-arrest/index.html The video of the arrest is at that link. I think one thing that surprises me, in the wake of the hyper-sensitivity to police actions, why the Trooper would be so discourteous and contribute to the escalation of the exchange. There needs to be a lot of re-training across all police forces to stamp out the macho authority attitude.
  8. @MapleLeafs: The #Leafs have named Lou Lamoriello the 16th General Manager in Club history #TMLtalk READ → http://t.co/gabNyzLRwIhttp://t.co/huVOhgEYJl
  9. I like Lapo personally (though I dont know him personally) and thought he was in tough here as a first time HC working under Mack. I think he deserves another shot. The decision to leave TSN probably comes down to a guy who loves football and wants to coach. More power to him if he's willing to jump back in the fire out of love and passion for the game. I generally like the Riders in the sense I like SK but love to see the Riders lose. I love that they are building a palace to play in and I hope the team never is at risk of folding and I have friends in SK that are cool. I like having the Riders around the cheer against. Its a "love to hate" feeling. So I'd be intrigued to see Lapo there.
  10. Latino Review has an article up about Terminator and how the franchise is once again in limbo pending the full international box office returns. Apparently it needs $300M to be considered somewhat successful and while it likely will hit that, it performed poorly domestically. What annoys me is the belief by the studio that the creative decision to "go back" to scenes from the original Terminator was rejected by domestic fans and that the key might be to make Terminator films for the international audience (ie. blow em ups). I think the best part of the movie was it's "Back to the Future" style return to the original...they just did too little of it and made the plot unnecessarily convoluted. While the actors were all "fine", none stood out and none were remotely as "real" and gritty as the originals. I also find their portrayal of Sarah Connor to be off... this Sarah was the "same" 19 year old Sarah from the original film, except raised by a Terminator and taught survival skills...so to a degree she'd be more like the Sarah from T2, perhaps not as "crazy" since she didnt have a kid to compel her. But they even had a scene where she puts on headphones and listens to 80's music while sort of dancing and bobbing around. I thought that scene could have worked if it had meant something more than her finding her old walkman. Also, their "Borg Queening" of Skynet was a terrible decision. I thought they repeated the mistakes of the Bad Robot Star Trek films by essentially saying nothing that happens matters because its just one of a million possible time lines. Never tell your audience it doesnt matter. More Back to the Future II style scenes would have been welcome. Getting Robert Patrick should have been a must. The problem with the franchise is, its sort of hindered by its own storyline. You either keep sending people back through time and preventing judgement day or you have to show us the world post judgement day...which they wont now since Terminator Salvation wasnt a success. T3 showed us Judgement Day so again, how do you write yourself out of that box? I love the Terminator franchise but they need Cameron back to make sense of it all.
  11. I always found the old arena so steep that if you fell down the stairs there was a real risk of going over the side to the lower bowl which would surely kill you and potentially anyone below you.
  12. Years ago I read that the highway won't be twinned to Grand Beach as the First Nations on the reserve want too much money. It was twinned to the reserve in the 70's & no further. You'd think by now that the Province & the First Nations would have worked something out. Yeah that was always the reason. I would have twinned it after as well...its only a small stretch that would be single lane then. Or make the highway go around the reserve which would have been ideal when the reserve would blockade the highway. With the casino and hotel there now and the increase in traffic, I would think the First Nations would be happy to come to the table in some way. Im surprised there arent more accidents on that highway with the amount of people using it and passing each other etc.
  13. Should finally twin 59 all the way to Grand Beach
  14. Also I find it amusing you are chastising us over tone rather than the guy who said being gay was a mental illness.
  15. Atomic - you addressed me and Fraser. You also took the position not everyone feels she deserves the award. My response was absolutely reasonable to your post. It's like you want to argue but don't want want to actually take a position. If you agree with me, great!
  16. That's not the issue at all Atomic. If people who believe in human rights are holier than thou than so be it. But Max did not argue about Jenner receiving the award. In my post discussing the matter I explained that others entered the discussion and tried to take the position Jenner shouldn't get the award for certain reasons all of which did not apply. If you have a good reason as to why Jenner shouldn't have got the award, we're all ears But as you can tell Max is a homophobe. So it's not really about whether Jenner deserved the award. The award is really a minor thing.
  17. Wiki: The arena will cost $400 million; 50% of the cost will be covered by the city and province each.[10] On March 1, 2011 Quebecor entered into an agreement to acquire management rights to the new arena, a deal expected to be between $33 million and $63 million up front, plus between $3.15 million and $5 million in annual rent. The value of the deal will increase if an NHL franchise moves into the arena; Quebecor has actively backed an expansion franchise for Quebec City.[11][1] This arrangement was made without public tender, for which the provincial government provided legal immunity.[12] This is an interesting tidbit about the design: In an interview for the American magazine Sports Illustrated, Populous architect and lead project designer Kurt Amundsen said that the arena was "absolutely a hockey-first design with the intention of them securing an NHL team in the near future."[15] Amundsen added that the design was specific to Canadian hockey preferences: It is a steeper and more intimate bowl than you see in the U.S. In Canada they are more about the game than the surrounding events and experiences. They were very adamant they wanted it as steep and tight as it could possibly get. . . . You feel like you are on top of the ice. It is about going into the arena and sitting in a seat and not getting up until the game is over.[15] The angle of the upper seating bowl is so steep that rails had to be installed at every row to satisfy local building code requirements.[15]

  19. No kidding. At first it was like oh someone who doesnt like gays or is uncomfortable with their own sexuality...that sort of thing. Maybe even someone feeling overly sensitive about their religious beliefs...I can handle that. But someone actually delusional? How can you discuss the topic with someone like that? Oh well...
  20. No Im not. Im more making fun of your bigotry than anything. I come from a Christian family actually. You're born straight or gay or whatever. Its not learned behaviour. Its not a choice. Much like being born white or black. But I guess thats just my opinion.. lol When did you choose to be straight?
  21. Not angry at all. Id be amused if I werent actually saddened that people like you exist. If your daughter brought home a minority, would that be an example of a mental illness? Of if she dated a Jew or Muslim? Where does mental illness end for you? Is it just everyone who doesnt share bigoted views must be sick? Do you think if your son was gay you could council him into being straight? You dont believe that works, do you? Are those Christians that believe the church is wrong about gay relationships suffering from a mental illness too? When the church inevitably changes its official view point on this, will it because they are all sick? Im quite intrigued by this world view...
  22. Good lord, I dont even know where to begin. Actually, there is nowhere to begin. If you feel people who are gay are suffering mental disorders, then you confirm your bigotry. Sad that people still exist in this world in 2015 that have these feelings. So Max, if your child came to you and she he was gay or trans, you would....what, have them committed? By the way, there are people who would suggest that anyone who believes in an invisible super power in the sky and believes a book written ages ago by man is the word of God are suffering a delusion. I dont believe that, but if you're a Christian I'd expect you to be more sensitive to throwing the words "mental illness" around to describe something scientifically accepted which you disagree with due your own belief in something not scientifically accepted.
  23. So...anyone who is gay, lesbian, bi, Trans etc has a mental disorder?
  24. Not really. You contributed to a discussion with sarcasm and suggested people were prejudiced against Christians. If you want to back track now, so be it. And you expressed disagreement with the idea that bigotry towards LGBT people being wrong was some sort of left-winged opinion.
