US announces new sanctions against NK. NK calls them repugnant and hostile which I think is the point so that's a win for the U.S.

They will get better in time as they move forward and make changes and bring in better talent. TSN went around locking up key talent after the switch to keep them From Rogers. I don't have a problem with Strombo per se. I think some people might consider it dksrespectful to put an entertainment guy in that role. It's one thing to sit back and listen to debate and analysis from hockey people but what legitimacy does he have in that role? I would have kept Ron as host of HNIC and Strombo hosting the other shows. Have them interact. Let Ron "endorse" the kid. No risk in alienating fans.
-
Some TV exec gets a boner when he looks at Strombo. And doesn't get the same level of wood when looking at Ron.

How is it irrelevant? If it was then there would never be a case where a team was looking for a specific handed D man. They would just switch sides Bogo played his off side for much of last season and that was one of the things people pointed to for his off year. Buff has played both sides as a forward. But not as a D. Ofcourse it is relevant which side they play.
-
So the idiot Oilers send Draisaitl back to junior. Blow a year of his pro contract, potentially stunt his development and for what? Oh and they refused to lend him to the WJC. Classy organization.

Galiardi could fill that role but nothing this season as indicated he can. If Lowry is a mainstay on 3rd line we have two guys that have been scratches playing with him. Kane didn't fill both of those roles. The fourth line has had games where they barely play. Our GM has provided a line up that the coach does not feel is ready to play consistent minutes. An upgrade is needed. We all know that.

Clitty's on the shelf. Day to day or more.

Something has to give because that's three right handed D none of whom are going to play the 5-6 pairing.I've previously remarked that I think there is a disconnect between Maurice and chevy and these comments would support that. Maurice thinks it's easy to find a top 9 guy. And yet chevy hasn't been able to or willing to. You mean besides Perreault right... and Frolik... Scheifele... Lowry... Or I suppose we were supposed to trade for someone the day after Kane was injured a week ago? Whoops. I missed when all those guys were brought in after Buff was moved to D. My bad.

Shocker. Seems more to the story.

Perron for Klinghammer and a 2015 first round Good for both teams I suppose but Im surprised the Pens would part with a first rounder in a very deep draft. But Perron will fill a top six depth role for them. Edmonton gets another draft pick (not that it matters). A decent depth centre and probably more importantly they lose some veteran offense which should help keep them at the bottom of the league.

Hmmmmm not a great outing. -
Lol no kidding eh? If you don't clearly hate a player then you must not like anyone. I'm a realist.

We really need some forward depth. Not much we can do about the D but we have an awful bottom six aside from Lowry who would probably look great as our 4th line centre next season -
. I can't say I disagree with your point but it's an unpopular opinion around here. If all things are equal ofcourse we keep buff. And he loves it here and he plays any position we want and he signs a ten year contract and he's an elite player til he's 40. But when you consider real world considerations the Jets will have a decision to make about buff next year and buff will have a decision to make about the jets.
-
Yeah really....poor defense and two defections and he is playing average-ish. I guess you expect him to have a shutout every game. Why don't you watch some of the saves he made in the first period alone. Lol over react much? I'm a huge Hutch fan. Deep breaths.
-
I doubt he gets the minutes he wants. Nor is it worth it financially. Unless he special teams minutes makes up the difference.
-
Why? What has Paajarvi ever done? He got a lot of hype in his first season then never lived up to it. You mean no one waived a bonafide top six player? I'm speaking within the context of him and the waiver wire. Depth. The jets have been lucky. But to expect them to continue to compete with Thorburn as a regular top 9 player isn't reasonable.
-
I assumed his pairings weren't in order since Enstron-Bogo as 5-6 is laughable. I think buff switches back and we figure out the D in the off season. Enstron Bogo Trouba Stuart Those are your top four barring a trade or buff sticking. Which means two of: Chairot Clit Postma Harrison Pardy play the bottom two spots. Pardy could be waived. Chairot going down might be best in the short term but he's shown he can play so he's in the plan for next season. I just don't see the jets doing anything major before the off season. With clitty's contract he's likely the 6-7 guy. Postma has been okay. I'd circle him as trade bait down the road as a young puck moving D man. There has to be some thought given to moving Bogo who has value.
-
All waiver players cleared. Surprised no one, including Jets, took Paajarvi
-
Position of most need is forward. Buff goes back. Chairot's play makes that even more likely. Next year will be the decision year on buff. Going into lay year of deal. If he wants to play D jets will have a decision to make.

I made the point a few weeks ago that it seems when Hutch has what might be perceived as an opportunity to grab the starting job by the throat that he puts forth an average -ish performance.
