  1. I remember reading somewhere that Burmis contract in the KHL allows him to come here if he decides to sign with the Jets or gets traded. I recall this coming up in discussions but Im sure I remember it being said that Burmi's two year KHL deal did not have an NHL out clause. Then again, it was also stated that Burmi wanted back in the NHL but not with the Jets. If Burmi's in town, something has to be up because I cant see him being here this close to Christmas (does anyone know the KHL schedule?)
  2. Whenever I am out of the country and am asked where I am from, I say "Winnipeg" as opposed to Canada to see if they know where it is. Once in Vegas the girl said "oh yeah I know Winnipeg, is that East Coast or West Coast?" Once in Fargo, a cashier had no clue where Winnipeg was. FARGO! I was just in Bermuda and on a small boat for an excursion and the first mate had a buddy from Winnipeg. I didnt know him, but small world. He kept calling me Winnipeg from that point on. Other people I met heard "Winnipeg" and said "Oh yeah, the Jets!" What are the pros and cons of Benevedes?
  3. I guess we know who won the power struggle.
  4. Didnt you say you would retain him if you were the Bombers?
  5. On further thought, I think its only free agents who have to go through waivers. Burmi is an RFA but are they allowed to sign with an NHL club mid-season? Burmi returning to the Jets right now would be huge and allow us to keep Buff on D. Kane-Lowry-Burmi is a damn good third line.
  6. I've heard players have said they "wont play under these conditions" and have demanded re-worked contracts. For guys who cant get work here, they could simply retire (or breach). But a guy like Burmi cant just get on a plane and come back here and play. He has a valid contract. Question will be if a KHL team folds, will that nullify their contract or will the KHL reassign them? Plus arent KHL players that return to the NHL mid-season subject to league-wide waivers?
  7. Well if its for a trade not sure either guy would need to be here. Though Burmi maybe because there would be contracts to work out with his KHL club. And Budaj, if traded, to report to the new team. Unless the new team is Boston...
  8. Buffalo has been hot lately. There will always be an excuse to beat a team or an excuse to lose. But we take them as they come. They didnt just beat Buffalo, they killed Buffalo. Thats good. And they played very well. Pavs was solid and made a few great saves.
  9. I meant to start one but I was too tired to bother and that was before I even watched the game on PVR. Pavs played great and should get the next start as a result. Buff's play is exactly why you don't trade a player like him. I'd lock him up on a four year deal at $5.5 million per (if he'll take it). Frolik can sign a deal as of Jan 1st and that has to be priority one for Chevy before the trade deadline. Frolik was smart in signing a one year deal and proving his worth. Reportedly there was a deal on the table in the summer but Jets wanted 4 years and Frolik wanted 5. He'll get $4+ million now. Sign him for 4 years if he'll take it (though 3 or 5 is better for staggered contract renewals). Scheif on fire now that he's shooting and has chemistry with Perrault. Going to be hard for Kane to get back on that 2nd line. Scheif still passes up opportunities to shoot sometimes. Very unselfish player. Hilarious watching him play the entire PP at the end of the game and look like he was ready to puke by the end of his shift. Some great chances for the hattrick too.
  10. Clitty is hard to not start with his contract. And I like Clitty. He's one of those signings that I think was smart in that he's a solid player that would bridge us to when Trouba, Postma, Chairot, Morrissey were starters. Luckily for us, a couple of those guys have worked out better than expected.
  11. He's been better than i thought he would be. I had him as my Goligoski this year, a young player with offensive upside that didnt fit in that could potentially sneak a great player from a team that needed his talents. but hes been good. Maybe regressed a little bit lately. He seems to be the guy talked about as sitting if so-and-so is healthy. Chairot might have taken his spot when all are healthy though they are playing opposite sides.
  12. I hate to be the trade guy again, but if Hall is available, he's the right age and talent that the Jets should be looking hard. Injuries aside, we have the D depth and goalie prospects the Oilers might want. Might they want a centre like Petan?
  13. WTF is wrong with Trouba?? Why. Lost our top three D men to significant injury. Unbelievable. Well, I think Chevy *might* try to find a bottom D for depth (maybe if someone appears on waivers) but Buff is going to stay on D now, thats gotta be a sure thing. Chairot just earned himself an NHL gig. Postma needs to get his sh!t together and be an everyday D man. I think Bogo is pretty close to returning so no panic needed in the short term. Come January, we're looking at Enstrom Bogo Stuart Buff Chairot Clitsome/Postma Not the worst ever. Might even be able to move Buff back up because him on D makes us thin at forward. If the Jets slide due to injuries it will be interesting to see if Chevy tries to make some moves with the Jets fighting for a playoff spot.
  14. You're the king of terrible fantasy trades. You have a very high opinion of our players. Not really. But generally local fans under-value our players and over-value other players. If someone wanted to discuss trading Kane (which I am on the fence about) one positive in the "for" column would be that he has a lot of value. Fans in Winnipeg want to run him out of town and say he hasnt done anything and he sucks. But he has a good contract, scored 30 goals and would see a large return. Its hard to do a multiple superstar for superstar trade. So yes, fantasy trades are fun to discuss. Only around here do they get ridiculed. its all fun and games. As an aside, the prospect of Ehlers might be making Jets management wonder about Kane's future here... ;-)
  15. I'd actually like to see what Maurice could do with Yak having spent time coaching in Russia and I believe he's expressed that he has a better understanding of what yung Russian players go through. There was the belief that Maurice being here would result in Burmi coming back. I wouldnt give up on Yak but he might need a fresh start. Im not even sure I'd give up on Eakins as a coach. He came in with a lot of hype and perhaps he believed his own hype. He will learn from this and become a better coach. But none of it changes the Oilers needed D and Centres and Goalies. And maybe they have guys in the pipeline, but their top draft picks enabled them to be competitive right now if they had filled the other holes with even average NHL players.
  16. If say his strongest attribute is his wife. Especially when she appeared for WWE. There was a live segment where the other divas cut promos on her and almost got them thrown off the air. Classic. Link????
  17. >Haha can you imagine?
  18. Hall for Bogo, Odell and Pavs?
  19. you adding trouba to that offer? I know that's what they'd want it trouba is untouchable. If we are being serious and the oilers were willing to trade Hall for the studd d-man they want is go Bogo+ for him. I'd even consider Kane and Bogo for hall and a prospect or pick. Hall is very very good.
  20. LOL Why do you always want to trade guys? This a sports forum. It's why fans do. I don't want to trade guys. I just have fun speculating. You know most teams in the NHL occasionally make trades right?
  21. Kane and Bogo for hall and eberle.
  22. If say his strongest attribute is his wife. Especially when she appeared for WWE. There was a live segment where the other divas cut promos on her and almost got them thrown off the air. Classic.
  23. He's a lawyer, he's just doing his job. True but he still looks like a prick for doing it. And it didnt help any. Whats the language barrier, that his wife should listen or else?
  24. If Im the Oilers I'd hire an experienced coach not an AHL'er. Im not a fan of Torts but these guys might need that attitude to get their heads out of their asses. But ultimately, you look at the talent and yes they have talent but their drafting after the first round was atrocious. They didnt fill their holes. This is more on the GM and Lowe than the coach.
  25. Well generally the team will have more knowledge then the public immediately. Usually a player will likely be honest with his agent and PA representatives and there are back channel contacts involved. So ether the team had knowledge, at least to the extent of his wife's injuries and made some stupid comments or they had no knowledge and still made stupid comments because when a player's wife ends up in the ER and the player arrested your immediate concern should not be about his career. And lets not forget the Kings tried to circumvent the NHL suspension not too long ago. If you recall when Varlamov was arrested he was not suspended and the team was quick to stand by him and I recall that was because they had information that made them comfortable with standing by him. I lambasted that decision at the time. But one has to wonder what the Kings knew and when they knew it. Ofcourse he's still innocent until proven guilty but the facts are not looking good for Voynov. And like you said Tbieber, pretty brutal how the agent tried to spin this. I guess it's his job but give me a break...I would be ashamed of myself if I had said what he said in light of the evidence today. Say nothing if you have to, but dont shove both feet in your mouth.
