  1. Not at all. Team was awful. Stupid coaching decision to go with Pavs in back to back. I'm nkt even saying it was his fault but that first goal he was out of position. And he looked rattled after the wheeler deflection.Guys like Kane took control of this game. No points for Maurice on this one. Do you actually watch any games? First goal could have beat anyone. Last 2 would have beat everyone. But you're right, Maurice has done nothing to elevate this teams compete level from last year. You mad bro? Lol. Where did I say Maurice had not elevated the team. In another thread I said just that. If you want to debate at least stock to facts. One of pavs issues over be years has been taking himself out of position. So yes that first goal would have beat anyone if everyone else also bit on the fake and took themselves out of position. Had he stayed in his net and stayed in position he limits the shooters chances.
  2. Damn PVR didn't record. Ugh. Sounds like a good game for Hutch and the Jets.
  3. Thats very fair. I certainly prefer Maurice's style as long as the offense catches up.
  4. I agree. If he really wanted out hed just call it in. I dont see him doing that. And again this is the silliest thing I've ever read. Everyone from Lawless to Mackenzie said Kane wanted out of Winnipeg in the last season or two. When did Kane "call it in?" Not once. Give your head a shake. Well first of all i just dont believe everything these guys say. Rumors are just that... rumors. IMO when he plays he goes all out ... Hes not just calling it in. And if he really wanted out over the last 2 seasons im sure hed have asked for it and if he didnt get moved he would just stop playing as hard. Read the entire thread because Im not going to waste my time recounting all my points. But if you dont think Lawless and Mackenzie are connected then you're starting from a disadvantage. I guess Kane desperately wanted to play here when he waited until the last possible moment to sign his contract extension, right? Did i say they dont have connections? Dont think i did. I just said i dont believe everything i read or hear them say. Its my opinion that if he really wanted out then hed be gone. And how would he accomplish that? Stomping his feet? if you read the thread you know *my* opinion which was that he wanted out last season. The NHL insiders' remarks on this at the time also support that notion. Kane's comments during the off-season support that notion. But I also feel Kane is a stand up hockey player who signed a contract. I think there was a meeting before the season began and there is an understanding between player and management. But Kane has never given anything but his best on-ice. I agree. Kane is a stand up guy. I also agree he wasent happy for the last 2 years but i think it may have had to do with more of Noel rather then him not wanting to be a Jet. We can agree on that to a degree. I take the coach's side (without knowing specifics of their issues) and I think what Kane did to Noel was very unprofessional. I think Noel was just the wrong coach at the wrong time for this team though he probably seemed like the perfect coach. We had a young team and he was well known as a "teacher". Problem with the Jets were even though it was a young team, they were never developed properly in Atlanta so Kane and Burmi etc were not traditional 19 year olds. Much more difficult to manage. I dont think a coaching change satisfies Kane's desire for a larger market. But I think the franchise here probably satisfies him as far as the business relationship. Kane got a pretty rude awakening as far as how different playing in a fish bowl can be and Im sure that wasnt easy for him to go through. One thing I noticed was that game where he was in the announcers booth for a few minutes, you could here him reacting to everything and it showed a very very strong emotional involvement with the game and his team mates. Well see thats the thing ... your taking a side without really knowing and believing rumours and then telling me to give my head a shake? I just gave my opinion on what i think without taking any side or just believing everything i hear or read. And the reason for my opinion is this..... Noel may have been a good teacher and the idea to hire him for the young team we had was a sound one to a point. But his real lack of being a HC in the NHL and players buying into his system failed. I dont at all think Noel just lost the respect of Kane but he lost most of the room because i dont think Noel had a very good system to put players in the position to succeed. Now with a HC with experience and a solid system in place its easier for a player like Kane to buy in and understand hes going to be given the chance to prove what he can do. Im using reasonable speculation combined with logic and the opinion/information provided by experts and insiders. I dont think Noel's systems were the issue. A lot of NHL'ers say systems arent really a big deal, its how the system is worked within that counts. I just think Noel was trying to make Burmi and Kane more responsible which is good. I think Kane is actually a better player because of Noel's coaching. Burmi didnt want to buy in but if Burmi didnt have the KHL as an option he'd be here too and he might be better off from playing for Noel. I think the pyschological make up of the team needs a coach like Maurice who will make the guys "f*cking cry in that room" more than Noel trying to be the kind teacher. But noel is a good coach.
  5. That is shocking. The reports yesterday were "physically cleared but not mentally ready". I can appreciate them sweeping that under the rug if its true but I would never want that guy on my team again. If true.
  6. This might have come up somewhere else but Im far too lazy to search. But do I understand this correctly, that Durrant was physically cleared to play and chose not? ive heard it implied he quit on the team. How could he ever step foot in Regina again.

  8. Wait. *You* are stating "opinion is not fact*? YOU?? lol Jokes. But seriously, I love discussion. Happy to admit when Im wrong. But thoughtful discussion. "Kane plays good so he loves the Jets" is goofy. Im not saying it is without merit. Im saying expand on that.
  9. I used to play the NHL series on PC years ago and loved it as it was way better then the old Nintendo version. But I have a Mac and my Mac is going on 6 years old and is slow as molasses. I've heard bad things about NHL15 but Id still like to get it but only after all the roster updates and bugs are fixed up. If Santa doesnt bring me an Xbox ONE then Ill consider it after Christmas. On a related note, WWE 2K15 was released this week and is getting horrible reviews. They just cant make a good wrestling game.
  10. Didnt she date Sam Katz for awhile? There was another local girl I liked for awhile...what was her name, Jennifer Rattray maybe? Does that sound right? And who could forget Janice Mackey (PJ Jazzy Jan). I'd watch the news just for her.

  13. On a different but potentially related note, a twitter discussion is ongoing centering around Ryan O'Reilly. Dregger reported the Jets with interest (I didnt see the original report so dont know if this is recent interest or old interest but I recall it being heavily reported that the Jets were interested before ROR signed his extension with the Avs). Im a bit confused by what position plays. Perhaps someone who watches the Avs can explain. He was originally a centre. TSN projected him on the RW but list him as a LW. He shoots left. He'd certainly look terrific on our RW.

  15. http://www.theglobeandmail.com/sports/hockey/bettman-quashes-expansion-rumours-as-talk-of-vegas-deal-swirls/article21633363/ Good article. One thing that shocks me: I just did a quick look for off-season Las Vegas tourism and their visitor numbers are very consistent all year round. I always thought tourism would drop off when Vegas cooled off in the winter, but that doesnt seem to be true. They average around 3 million visitors per months all year. Those are significant numbers.
  16. Well that and it was well known we wanted a franchise.. How long were we in the hunt for the 'yotes? Yotes really got into financial trouble after we got Atlanta. Course if the stars had aligned we would have got PHX instead. Coyotes were in very bad financial trouble long before True North bought the Trashers. The only reason we didnt end up with the Yotes was because the NHL successfully leveraged our interest to get Glendale to pony up subsidies to keep the Coyotes there. That team went through several owners, never made a dollar. Lost tens of millions of dollars. And went bankrupt. The NHL fought so hard for it for two reasons: once the fight ended up in court, they had to fight to maintain decision making authority over their franchises and to warn off any other owners from trying to do what the then-Coyotes owner tried to do. And secondly, because the NHL had lobbied Glendale to build that palace out in the suburbs, they couldnt be seen as running from their partners when the going got tough. A year before the Thrashers relocated, the Coyotes' future came down to the wire with a hastily arranged press conference being set up at MTSC late one night. We were 15 minutes away from announcing the purchase of the Coyotes and Glendale, which was endlessly debating and trying to call the NHL's bluff, finally relented. It worked out a lot better for True North to have more lead time with the Thrashers, but make no mistake, the Coyotes were in financial fire straights. The Thrashers were a unique situation where the team owners also controlled the arena and no longer wanted hockey. The community didnt support the team so there was no out cry and local government didnt care. There was no one who wanted to own the team and no where for a team to play if someone did want to own it.
  17. Call it lazy. Call it taking the night off. Whatever. Fatigue? Well they weren't too fatigued in the third period. They came out flat. If that's rare then so be it. But we have seen that a lot from this team. They didn't show up until the third period. The first goal pavs should have maintained positional advantage. Then the player either shoots it at pavs or goes for the low percentage wrap around. Player made a good Move by drawing pavs in.
  18. Do khari and Wade still own booster juice together?
  19. Company is decent. Stock is okay. I'd like to say I have a diverse portfolio. In fact I'd like to say I have a portfolio.
  20. Company matches contributions by 25% also.
  21. Thanks for the insight. Im not very knowledgable. So if i go to my bank (SCU) and open a TFSA (I have one through work which is company stock), do they set the interest rate of return, are there multiple options for investment? I want to make a huge return with no risk. lol
  22. I asked a similar question awhile back and got no takers either. Must not be a lot of gamers. I was leaning towards an Xbox One. Im not sure why. As a kid I was always a Nintendo guy so when the big two (Playstation and Xbox) became the ones to choose from, I didnt go with either for ages. Bought a used PS1, enjoyed it. Had the chance to buy a used Xbox360 so thats why I switched to Microsoft. Most friends had Xbox also so for online play that was an important consideration. I never did play online much so it didnt really matter. I actually went through four Xbox's (red ring of death issues) so I *should* hate them. But Im used to the system so Im leaning towards the ONE as my next console. It would probably be a no brainer if there was backwards compatibility. Since there isnt, I should be wide open, but again, Im leaning towards the one Im familiar with. A buddy had both a 360 and a PS3. Got the PS3 as his Blu Ray player and ended up buying more games for it as he preferred it for some reason. Made no difference to me what we played. Never liked the Playstation controller much though. For me, the must have games are NHL and GTA. I've played a few Call of Duty's also. Thats pretty much it. I barely have time to catch up with my PVR let alone play video games for a couple of hours a day. So dropping $400 just to play NHL is a tough sell. My understanding is PS4 has greater graphics capacity but designers building games to play on both will max out the lesser one and the difference will be barely noticiable. There also isnt much exclusive games anymore is there? I never did get GTAV for 360 so thats pushing me towards getting a next gen system too. Interested to hear some opinions from the gamers here though.
  23. Agreed. The problem in Canada is an opposition fiercly opposed to military spending and a public used to the "peaceful" nature of Canadian military which is, ofcourse, not really true. Canadians usally get outraged when the military experiences embarrassment (like being deployed to the desert in the green camo). On an unrelated note, perhaps someone smarter than me can explain this: Story online right now about the Conservatives remaining promises, including doubling the TFSA limit. I think we all agree the TFSA is great. But the story has a quote from some professor stating that the Cons' plan to double the limit creates a problem for government twenty years down the road. Im confused on that. if I take $10,000 right now and put it in an RSP, I get a tax break now. So one could say the government loses out on the taxes now. When I retire and I withdraw from the RSP, I pay taxes. Its essentially delaying when I pay tax on that money. With a TFSA, I pay tax right now on the $10,000 but the interest that money generates is tax free. When I withdraw it in twenty years, I get back the original $10,000 which I already paid tax on and I get the interest tax free. But thats money generated by the investment, correct? if I have it at my bank, thats money the bank is paying me. How does this negatively impact the government? They get the tax on the $10,000. If I dont have TFSA, they still get the tax on the $10,000. Im not taking tax money away from the government. Are they saying that interest generated from investment is so significant a taxation revenue stream for the government that the interest on $10,000 TFSA is going to be a problem for the government twenty years from now? I dont know....
  24. It was irrelevant to my point which was about how Harper was treating the situation, not about how Putin or Russia was behaving. Its certanly relevant to the over-all issue of Russia invading Ukraine and the world letting him. I certainly dont know enough about the situation but the little I've read it sounds like Russia's economy is doing very poorly and yet the propaganda machine there makes Putin look like a hero. He's a cold war relic trying to re-build Russia in the image of the USSR. He needs to get into the modern world. I wonder how far the economy of Russia could sink before the people would react. heard Putin threaten to have Ukraine banking loans called in (or something to that effect) if the sanctions continue. He said he'd bankrupt Ukraine. Well its just money on a ledger somewhere, so why doesnt the Western World replace those loans? Get ukraine out of any sort of debt or obligation with Russia. Its sad that this sort of BS still happens in a modern world. In the bigger picture you've got a United Nations that has Russia and China as permanent members of the Security Council and countries like Iran have served on human rights commissions. What a joke. Imagine if an alien civilization came to Earth...they'd shake their heads. Bush should have booted the UN out of New York when they waffled on Iraq and formed a NATO style united nations. But I digress...
