  1. Cory Watson shouldve caught that throw from Lulay. He hasn't caught a pass in about 5 years. So glad he is long gone from here.
  2. I thought JM2 would be better too. Same style of QB as Vernon Adams so Khari would not need to tweak MTL schemes. Clearly it was a gross error to think Manziel could succeed after just a few days of practice. Even Adams, with 4 years in the CFL, couldn't do much behind that O-line. But that MTL team is just plain bad - from the coaching on down. Kavis Reed is being revealed as a joke, again. I feel sorry for the fans in Montreal. This is bad for whole league.
  3. Manziel might be pretty good. He's had 3 months in the league to watch and learn, albeit not too long to learn Montreal's system. Looking forward to the game.
  4. That was an amazing comeback by the Argos. Had a feeling they could do it and they did! Does anyone know what all the delays were about in the final minute, after 3rd and inches was confirmed?
  5. Reilly has phenomenal escapability, plus outstanding receivers in Williams and Walker, plus horseshoes. Sask has the better defence. Collaros gave Regina's offence some life. But often, whenever things get wobbly for him, he blames his team-mates. And that is poison.
  6. QB Bryan Bennett on punt cover at 1:26ish -and he's in on the tackle! But looking at the set-up there's gotta be a play off this formation in the future.
  7. I was a big fan of Randle - just a shutdown DB. But sometimes I wonder if he's lost a step - especially last half of last year and first few games this season his play has been spotty. He was interviewed this week - Thursday - talked about his competition with Heath etc and gave every indication he was playing - so it is a bit mysterious.
  8. Play calling on the 3rd down conversions was terrible. The QB keeper around the end was used in the prior game vs BC and Lions were expecting it. Later, 3rd and goal from the 2, you ask the QB to run up the gut from the shotgun formation, c'mon. Even if your QB is built like a linebacker everyone knows it is a run. All the 3rd down conversions/gambles were a shambles. Too clever by half, as they say.
  9. He has been a violent brute on teams - just the way we like 'em. But I think he's nicked.
  10. Been extremely impressed with Lapo's play calling this year and that highlight thread was fun to watch. Streveler reminds me quite alot of Dunigan.
  11. I was pretty disappointed with the play of Dressler and Leggett.
  12. We should've kept White instead of Dressler. Oh well.
  13. We lost because players made too many undisciplined and foolish mistakes on both sides of the ball. And we were out-schemed - out-coached. Also, Masoli might be the best QB in the league.
  14. The stupid thing about the Chungh hold is that is was on a delayed draw. So the smart thing would have been to let the defender through rather than block.
  15. Muamba, Grymes fined by CFL. Muamba's cheapshot on Streveler should've been a suspension IMHO https://www.cfl.ca/2018/06/27/muamba-grymes-fined-week-2-action/
  16. Emmanuel Arceneaux. #84 Slotback
  17. What are the following supplements and what do they do? Rivalus SteamBCAA Complx5 Promsil
  18. Rod Black telling USA viewers the Canadian field is 110 yards long by 60 yards wide when in fact it is actually 65 yards wide. How does this guy stay employed?
  19. With the exception of acquiring Matt Nichols from Esks, Walters/O'Shea & Co have had, up to now, a very poor track record at talent spotting/development at the QB position. This has been a glaring management weakness. Look at a partial list of who has been here since 2013 when Walters took over GM job: Jason Boltus, Brian Brohm, Justin Goltz, Max Hall, Robert Marve, Josh Portis, Drew Willy. That is a scary list. Some, like Willy, they stubbornly stuck with for far too long. On the other hand guys such as Davis they gave up on too soon. Davis wasn't given enough real game-time reps to make a proper assessment.
  20. Manziel's arrival in the CFL might be the cue for some guys who are in the same boat: tired of waiting for the NFL to call and hoping to hit re-start in Canada.
  21. Didn't Bombers get Ryan Rigmaiden from BC as chieef scout of US colleges ~ who knows what part he might have played in getting some of the ex-Lions - Roh, Gaitor, Fenner, Clarke - here. Also, coaching could make us better this year. O'Shea has another year under his belt and we had added some interesting new coaching talent on the defence: James Stanley Glen Young and Jordan Younger.
  22. Who knows if we are better than last year? On D we lost Westerman Hurl Thomas and Heath. I thought Westerman lost a step last year and obviously Hurl was a major liability. They get replaced with INT players. We have gained Bighill Roh Fenner Gaitor and Clarke. Obviously Bighill should be solid, Roh too IMHO. You can't replace Leggett but Fenner helps just in case Leggett can't perform at the level he did before his injury. Jones Fogg Branning Conteh Walker and Alexander should be de facto improved this year with a year under their belt. Same with Kyrie Wilson and Santos-Knox. Maybe someone like Gause will be rotational. Hoping Awoleke or Jeffcoat make noise on the Dline. The Oline is one of the best in the CFL even after the loss of Travis Bond. I am not a huge fan of Demski or Lafrance but will be thrilled to be wrong if Demski makes an impact. Lafrance I know is ratio backup to Harris which may be necessary since my fear with the O is that Lapo relies too much on Harris to carry the mail as a power back and breaks him. We should be using #33 at this stage as a hybrid SB/RB - 600-700 yards rushing and 1000+ receiving. Our receiver group appears slightly better than last year but someone like Wolitarsky, Corey Washington or Myles White needs to make the team and be consistently good to make up for an aging and oft-injured Dressler. I am going to suggest White and Washington both are better than Lankford - but can they return kicks because Lankford wasn't exceptional. That is one area of the game where it felt like we really regressed last year - kick return field position. Unsure about Bowman but hope he rebounds from last year and is great for us. Hopeful Alex Ross is an upgrade over the departed Dom Davis but I liked Davis and thought he just didn't get enough game reps to get in a groove and show us what he can do. Maybe we can grab someone like Jeff Matthews for insurance.
  23. The wider CFL field means rookie INT QBs need to adjust their pass lanes. That means un-learning some habits. That can take a bit of time and Ross's experience from last year gives him the edge there. And then you've got receivers sometimes running wobbly routes. I noticed Streveler tossed a floater or two to the wide side of the field - those would have been picks if it wasn't the first day of camp. All 3 backup QBs have good arm strength though, Streveler was running the reps quickly and he was able to run a couple of plays that look like they could be deeper than just your vanilla Day 1 stuff from the playbook.
  24. Looked like Craig Roh and Jackson Jeffcoat taking first team reps at rush end positions. No pads practice and therefore hard to say who will be ripping the head off Johnny Football later in the season.
