  1. 100% agree. Lefevour just went to the well too often with that plunge off the left tackle. After all, this is pro football. When your short yardage play each and every time is to step left and go off tackle and you do it twice vs Sask and then try to do it for the second time in the same half vs Stamps you gotta think the opposing D would defend against it - and they did. Maybe try to pix it up once in awhile. Sheesh. Makes the Head Coach look stupid.
  2. Just so disappointed by this loss. Sick and tired of losing to the Stamps. It wasn't that Calgary played so well but that Bombers performed so poorly in every facet: offence, defence special teams that just really pissses me off. The highlight for me was our D being stout and shutting the door multiple times with Stamps knocking at the 1. But so many other things throughut the entire game were just plain bad. Bonehead penalties again. I will repeat because I have said it before: we have no return game, I had been waiting for Lankford to fumble again and sure enough he did. Someone said Fogg on punt returns and Lankford on kickoff returns. But no. Lankford isn't the answer for either. We are losing the field position game. Also, the D line tried some new stunts last night but its obvious they are confused out there, even before Tristan O got a burner. Hurl or Westerman or whoever is the QB on D was not able to get them lined up properly in position on time. This goes to coaching on a team that has now given up nearly 70 points in 2 games. All of the DBs took turns looking bad last night and the only linebacker who played reasonably well was Jesse Briggs: Hurl and Leggett sucked. On O - I agree the signs were there last year even - Harris is not a good enough RB any longer. He's courageous but Flanders is better and Bombers need to recognize this although I fear MOS is too stubborn to make a change. Also, the QB play last night was very disappointing and the rope on Nichols needs to be short. He might respond well to having his starter role challenged. That is maybe the way it has to be for him. Receivers except for Dressler and JFG wereen't very good yesterday either. Time for TJ Thorpe? Why did we cut Sheppard? Anyway, I know it is just one game, but Nichols threw quite a few picks at the tail end of last year and now 3 in 2 games. He is not seeing the blitz. Worried ultimately about this team's preparedness and coaching. On paper, the talent level appears to be better than they are putting out on the field.

  4. This will be a good test. A chance for Bombers to earn some RESPECT. Bombers played Stamps hard last year, especially the final game where we spotted them 24-0 lead and came back to almost take them as Calgary just stood around in the 2nd half looking complacent and arrogant. Stamps look to be missing a few pieces this year and Bombers are probably better than a year ago. We are very extremely-much overdue for a win vs Calgary. It'll be nice to rub BLMs nose in it.
  5. I am more than happy with Nichols and feel Bombers had no choice but to give him that $400k contract to retain him after the way he stepped in and started winning games for us last year. I feel the coaches and his team-mates have a lot of confidence in Matt Nichols. He put too much zip on the ball early yesterday so JFG couldn't squeeze a high throw with velocity and Dressler couldn't run under another sure TD pass. When he got that out of the way and settled down - he was money. Personally very glad we have Matt Nichols as our starting QB and agree he is very under-rated.
  6. Riders did a good job of masking the odd-man rush. Nichols said as much post-game. There were a couple of times he was dropped in the backfield where it was obvious he didn't read what was coming - or someone missed an assignment .....
  7. Lankford doesn't do it for me on returns. If Fogg is down then hopefully Thorpe is ready next week. I liked some of Lapos playcalling in the second Q - receiver sweeps. I want to see Flanders next week, spell harris a bit.
  8. Great win in a nasty opposing barn. Roc Carmichael burned for 2 scores. We could use a return man. D gave up 40 points. We will have to improve hugely if we want to stay in the game vs Stamps next week.
  9. Finally. Football is here for real. Go Blue!
  10. Ha! Hell no. Sucked it up. Only time I ever puked at a ball game was watching Justin Goltz at QB at IGF in 2012.
  11. My dad took me to my first CFL game at Taylor Field in 1966, Riders Vs Bombers. Lancaster vs Ploen. We sat in the endzone on wood bleacher seats. I still remember that amazing experience - the sights, sounds, smells and roar of the crowd - it was crazy. I was too young to do it but back then you could kill a mick of whisky in your seat and fire up all the stogies you wanted. Game ended in a tie. 11-11. That new Mosaic Stadium over there looks pretty nice but I bet a flask and stogies in your seat will get you arrested. So, in the old days they didn't have as much luxury as today. But, you know, there was character. Seen alot of CFL football since that first game half a century ago. Enough to predict that Bombers are going to be spoilers in that place and come home happy.
  12. Weston Dressler
  13. Seems he was yelling at Austin, complaining about the playcalling. Those 2 deserve each other lol
  14. The official (#51 Field Judge Bryan Taylor) is not in the best position to see whether the ball is in the ballcarriers possession when it travels across the invisible first contact point of the goal line. I am not blaming the official but it is one of those instances where you have to be exactly on the goal line to see if the player had possession at the point of the ball first traversing the line. So from the official's POV he was guessing a bit. And you can see where the Command Centre would not want to second guess the official who was there. Especially since the camera angle is not 100% on the line either. So, in this case you have to go with the official. Despite the fact he was probably wrong.
  15. Good piece by Ed Tait on NAT receiver Julian Feoli-Gudino. Big fan of his clutch grabs - hoping he will have a breakout year with Bombers this year. https://www.bluebombers.com/2017/06/23/earning-every-start-julian-feel-gudino/
  16. Yep. Scrap the replay. Scrap the review. Bring in the courtroom sketch artist just like the White House.
  17. Als deserved that win since the CFL gave Sask a TD hat wasn't a TD. KG and Durant were overall better than I expected. SK OL gave KG time and he responded better than I thought he would to getting roughed up a couple of times. Usually you get to him once or twice and he just folds. Demski had his best game as a Rider. But I am still not sold on Demski.
  18. If the Command Centre used the same camera angle as we saw on TSN that was not a TD. CFL should come out today and clarify this. The only possible explanation is that Command Centre had a different camera view.
  19. Curious to see if Thorpe can be the PR/KR guy, when healthy. Right now, its a hole in the roster.
  20. This is why as a fan I come to this forum for Bombers news. Can't rely on mainstream media any longer to get it right or even really get it at all. I can't think of one unique insight or interesting tidbit I picked up from Freep or radio or Sun during TC and after ...... that we didn't already know. It's just a function of the disruption and marginalization of the news media that has occurred in the digital age. They can't compete on news and their opinions are almost worthless.
  21. Don't be surprised if Jones declares Brandon Bridge the starter. He is more athletic than KG.
  22. I don't like any of these guys are returners - too much risk of injury for so-so results on the return. Lankford isn't it either. We miss McDuffie. There's no one on this roster right now who could be considered a legit return threat. I know Lankford did it vs Sask but that was pre-season. Therefore, yes, leave Lankford off and for sure dress Yachison. And then go and find a legit returner. Unless that is Thorpe, when healthy.
  23. I wonder if Poop decided to go with jersey #67 since that is the exact number of tackles he got as a senior at Kentucky http://www.kansascity.com/sports/nfl/kansas-city-chiefs/article122090264.html If that is the equation - tackles = jersey number - then let's hope next year he switches to #99!

  25. I see what you're saying but maintain the overall LB talent level was better last year - which is surprising since you have MOS and Walters and I daresay Wade Miller as the braintrust. I would expect to see 3-4 formation sometimes. We saw that vs Edm last Thurs. Carmichael took considerable reps at SAM during TC if I am not mistaken. I remember seeing Waggonner take a few (albeit very few) turns at LB last season. He will be missed mainly on ST. There is going to be a lot of interchangeability on this defence between DL and LB positions viz ratio. So they are probably stronger on the D line this year (hoping Westerman can be as effective as he was in 2015) but not so much at LB. Hopefully Wild and Leggett can stay healthy.
