  1. Ooooops ... WBBFanWest already posted Jovon thinks Walters is a thief: Jovon Johnson ✔ @Mr_Consistent_2 Bombers won all the way around with this trade smfh they gave up nothing to get two very good players! https://twitter.com/wpg_bluebombers/status/775127555531759616 …
  2. Probably good for Drew Willy and for Bombers to part company. Heath looked great for Argos today vs TiCats and KG a veteran QB behind Nichols. Good all around.
  3. Getting back to Lawless says there is a trade market for Willy ............ Gurley for Willy has a nice ring to it. EDIT: 'Cept LeFevour got a win for the Argos and despite a couple of picks looks pretty good. Guessing any trade talk for Willy to TO will cool a bit now. 2nd Edit: Willy traded!
  4. Yup. He has been and its been great to witness. But is it enough? Or do we need more? That is the question that will play out over the next 7 games vs some tough opponents.
  5. That stat is for the entire season, I presume, and we were talking about Winnipeg's wins, which came in the first 1/3 of the season in 2014 before Bombers opponents figured out Etchevery's defence. So don't be pulling out a stat that has no direct relevance to the point of comparison under discussion. We were talking about Winnipeg's wins in 2014, not the whole season, which was a disaster. I've already pointed out elsewhere that if it wasn't for key scores by D and ST in 2014 our record would have been 3-13 with Willy at the helm. On Nichols vs Willy - I'm with you and will take Nichols over Willy any day because his reads are faster and he gets rid of the ball quicker. There are also legit questions about Willy's ability to read defences, period. But I feel that neither Willy nor Nichols have been carrying the team on their own the way Collaros or BLM can. Nichols does seem to have stepped up as a leader, has done a great job of protecting the ball, and the team has responded to the point where they believe they can win. They had clearly given up on Willy and I would favour dealing him to another team and going with Davis as backup. But I also share JBR's worry that the offence needs to step up if we are to be a real contender. Even O'shea said that after the game - another WIN! - yesterday.
  6. The wins Willy got in 2014 were just like the wins Nichols is getting this year - they are coming due to lights out play by the D and special teams.
  7. Loved watching Dieter Brock - a football warrior who threw a beautiful ball.
  8. Willy's biggest problem in the first 5 games - they were numerous but consistent with prior inadequacies - was that his team-mates lost confidence in his abilities and therefore to lead and to win. That was obvious. And it was the main reason things turned around with Nichols in there, he gave the whole team a spark and helped them come around to the belief they could win. So if you look at the difference between games 1-5 and 5-10 in the context of Willy vs Nichols then that is it right there.
  9. Or we can continue to win one game a time exactly as we have: decent QB management of the O with tempo, critical forced D turnovers when needed, and a placekicker who is money.
  10. Waggoner out of position on the Lawrence return. Controversial call on Cox to give us life at the end. Crapinga's missed kicks loom large. Add it all up = W!
  11. This edition of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers ... is just getting started. Victory this week (and next) and unstoppable after that.
  12. If Dunk is correct, he says Bombers are likely to pay the most in the league compared with other clubs - $606k - for our 1-2 QB duo. Folks have been throwing shade on Nichols for supposed lack of red zone production, and yet, over the span of games that Willy started since 2014, Bombers scored something like throwing 23 TDs. That's somewhere north of $30,000 per touchdown if his previous base packages were as reported. No idea what Justin Medlock is paid, could it be around $200k? Whatever it is, he looks like an absolute bargain.
  13. When Bombers renegotiated with Willy last year, Kirk Penton reported (quoting sources) that Willy's salary for 2016 would be $410,000 for this season including performance incentives. http://www.winnipegsun.com/2015/05/01/bombers-sign-qb-willy-to-extension I'd be pleasantly surprised if Bombers clear the air for everyone and trade Willy - but seems the base pay package might not be a barrier for another club to pick him up.
  14. Enjoyed hearing the QBs and huddle banter. Here We Go Razor Lucky 44 Woodie Ringo Indian on 3 - you might know the play but you don't know when its coming.
  15. I'd be pleasantly surprised if Winnipeg deals Drew Willy. But a change of scene probably would be good for everyone. It was clear his team-mates lost confidence in him.
  16. Interesting that CEO-President Craig Reynolds had to cut short his vacation to come back to Regina to try to put out the fire caused by Jones and the roster violations. Middle of the CFL season seems like an unusual time to take a vacation.
  17. Sorry yes Darvin Adams.
  18. You might be right. But who sits if Smith plays? And then, as others have pointed out, you've got Dressler, Denmark and Smith all similar stature. And as the OP noted, you probably want a mix of speed, physicality and experience. The question may be moot since Chris Adams appears to be out long term with that mangled shoulder. But the question was: who plays assuming everyone is healthy?
  19. In the CFL you need a decent QB to win. Otherwise, you lose. Bombers are an excellent illustration of this. Poor play by the QB drags the whole team down as players lose confidence that the O can muster anything. Decent play by the QB lifts the entire team.
  20. So we won the last 3 games despite Nichols? Give your head a shake man. He was forcing things and a bit reckless with the ball last night. But he still threw for 2 TDs, fed the ball to Harris and managed the O decently well. The fact you now have a functioning QB has given the entire team a lift, whereas players previously had given up on Drew Willy.
  21. That is such a great shot, in so many ways.
  22. That's probably the best receiver group for the reasons you suggest. Wish Dressler had stayed healthy so we could have seen more out of him. Not sure he still has it, to be honest, based on appearances this year to date. But then we didn't really have a functional QB til the last 3 games and then Dressler got hurt right off the bat. Someone should file a Missing Persons Report on Kris Adams.
  23. FWIW, not everyone thought Willy was the guy. Some might have thought he never, ever showed enough to be a starter.
  24. Or Special Teams maybe. Like Jordan Lynch. Get out there and deliver some hits on punt cover. Earn some respect from your mates and fans.
  25. Unreal, KG throws not just one last minute pick - but two! Including the pick 6. Classic Glenn.
