  1. DB Johnny Adams (Michigan State) has NFL experience. He might have been recommended to us by former Bombers personnel director Bill Polian, who talks about Adams in the vid link below. Looking forward to seeing Johnny Adams at TC https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PdqK7Db8zDY
  2. Very happy about this. The thing about Brohm is he got better every time he got a chance to play. Hopefully he gets more playing time with us in 2015.
  3. Tate is a hot-head, but for the same price, I'd probably prefer Tate. I think a change in scenery may help Tate. I'd definitely take him. Of the 2 Drews I might take a healthy Tate over Willy.
  4. You can't develop a QB without giving him playing time. If it wasn't for Brohm getting injured last year, Marve probably wouldn't have seen the field at all. I was not overly impressed with O'Shea's management of resources last year, especially during the 7 game skid. Backup QB's should have gained more playing time during this period. Cotton/Grigsby took too long to resolve and Romby should have remained parked on the PR roster throughout IMO. Hopefully O'Shea acquires more flexibility in his thinking than he exhibited in his rookie year. 100% with you on this. Don't know if it was stubbornness or factors beyond our knowledge that led O'Shea astray here. My hunch is these were Bellefueille's decisions and O'Shea basically deferred all offence-related stuff to his OC. Meantime, c'mon let's get Brian Brohm signed. I'd hate for him to end up in BC and us with KG5. No upside there.
  5. I'd hoped we might have seen more of Brohm that we did. As 2014 went by Drew Willy got banged around and it had a negative impact on his progress. After he injured his shoulder he appeared to have lost all measure of poise and confidence. But he continued to take way too long to make decisions behind an Oline that was a work in progress. That's when we shouldve seen more of Brohm. If Brohm re-signs we'll have 2 classic pocket passers in Willy and Brohm and a pair of scramblers in Marve and Portis. Throw to score. Run to win.
  6. Same could be said for Drew Willy - he had 3-4 decent games that resulted in wins early on, but his level of play actually regressed. So lots of questions about him too. Here's what I like about Brian Brohm: it's obvious Brohm has a high football IQ and every time got on the field he got better, not worse. He makes very quick reads - faster than Drew Willy and he gets rid of the ball more quickly and, generally, right on target. He manages the clock better than Drew Willy - he rarely uses the entire 20 second clock between plays whereas Willy almost always requires the whole pre-snap to make his reads. So there's usually no urgency in a Drew Willy led offence. Brohm only threw for about 450 yards last year but he had a better QB passing percentage in 2014 than Drew Willy at 69.6% vs 64%. That's inaccurate. Brohm's completion percentage was actually 55.7%. His QB rating was 69.6, which is awful You're right, Brohm's completion percentage last year was 55.7 vs Willy 63.8. And Brohm's QB efficiency rating was 69.6 vs Willy at 83.9 Willy though, had worst QB efficiency rating in the league among starters, after Hank who was the worst. And if you look carefully you see that Brohm's QB rating is low only because, in limited game reps, he didn't throw any TDs. Willy was also virtually at the bottom among CFL QBs last year when you look at the TD vs INT ratio. Lots of room for improvement there. Anyway I hope we can sign Brohm. I feel he's underated. 7. It wasn't just the OL, Willy took way to long to get rid of the ball. You only get so long to unload in pro football. If Willy doesn't correct that, then an improved O line won't matter.

  9. Good news, if true. Brohm is a very solid QB.
  10. Would have liked to have seen Jensen here.
  11. Run game was fine when a good running back was used. Every OL in the CFL can run block. The ability to actually run the ball with a back who can put the offense in 2nd and 5 or less consistently will be a bigger upgrade than any made on the offensive line. On the whole, Bryant will be an upgrade, the rest depends on guys picking up their game, Greaves and Neufeld specifically. Goossen is a wildcard. Picard for Morley is a wash, Picard's snapping and calls should be more refined given he's spent his whole life playing centre, but he can't block anybody 1 on 1. I'd be pleasantly surprised if they end up in the top half of the league in terms of protecting the QB. 100% Why did they stick so long with Grigsby when it was evident he wasn't very good? This year, I'm hoping for some balance in the offence.
  12. It wasn't all on the O-line. For a pro QB Willy takes way too long with pre- and post-snap reads and putting the ball in play. You only get so many steamboats. If he doesn't correct that, then even a better line won't help. I agree with those who don't want KG5 around here but at least he usually disposes of the ball quickly, often to the wrong team at the worst possible time, but that is another matter.
  13. Proof is in the pudding. Like Doug Brown said, coach Buck Pierce is going to look like a genius if the run game dramatically improves. Let's hope Drew Willy learns to make his reads quicker and gets rid of the ball faster. If not, then even a top tier OL won't help.
  14. I hope Brohm doesn't end up in BC.
  15. Hopefully Bombers are just feigning interest in KG, so Brohm gets the message and re-signs with us, pronto.
  16. Meh, I'd say moving from Foley and Kilgore (or whoever they had at MLB) to Emry and Hall is a big upgrade. Other than that, they've retained depth similar to what we've brought in because we didn't have it in the first place. Let's see how things keep unfolding, though. The biggest changes the riders had to make IMO were on the coaching staff and scouting dept. Those are the changes that the fans are excited about. The riders have a pretty good team already, there weren't a lot of moves that had to be made.I agree. Gonna be a dog fight in the west this year. I like the moves you guys have made. Outside of Bryant, none of them are earth shattering. BUT, Walters has a plan it appears and he is slowly putting the pieces together. The Bombers are going to be very much in the hunt this year. You already had a qb, rb and kicker from last year which was a good start. Are making moves to shore up the oline, which i'm sorry to say guys was really rough last year. Willy with more time means more points on the board which means more wins for you. You guys need to make some moves on the defensive side of the ball now. Hickman? I'm happy for you guys, its exciting when the team starts making moves, IN A GOOD WAY. Better coaching and new approach will help the defence, and it was obvious the Oline had trouble protecting Drew Willy. But he doesn't need more time to look and read. Willy needs to get rid of the ball quicker.
  17. Ditto. Hope he gets a chance there. If he does, could surprise a lot of people.
  18. Wally does't want KG cuz in a clutch situation he's always a heartbreaker and at age 35 on a downhill spiral. One of the worst, if not the worst QB efficiency rating in the league. Why would Winnipeg take the downside risk? Surely we need to be developing our younger talent. I'd be seriously questioning O'Shea's sanity - it would be like Romby, only worse
  19. No thank-you to KG. Just no. If we can't re-sign Brohm then I'd rather have a raw rook than Glenn.
  20. Saw that too. Now fixed. Quite revealing!

  22. Walters reportedly has been trying to get Brian Brohm re-signed and I can see why. Brohm knows our system and played well in limited action last year. He probably should have had more reps, especially after Drew Willy got happy feet in the 2nd half of the season. I felt Brohm had command of the huddle, the system, and the clock and that he moved the ball with authority. He spent less time going through both pre-snap and post-snap reads than Drew Willy and got the ball away faster. If he doesn't get a last shot in the NFL, I feel certain he will land in the CFL somewhere and given half a chance will do very very well. So I don't think a trade was in the books, since Bombers actually want(ed) him back.
  23. What do you consider notable? I read a recent article that said the Bombers neg list is heavy on american offensive tackles. I guess by 'notable' I mean a player who was at one time a highly-touted NFL prospect, or maybe had some time in The League, but who might end up in CFL for a variety of reasons. You know, it was reported the Als had Tim Tebow on their neg list at one point last year or before, and Chad Johnson obviously was on their list, since he was eventually signed. It seems possible, probable, that the Bombers might have a recognizable name or two on their neg list. But whether they could actually land such a player, or would want to, is another matter. So that is my question: who is the player in the Watson deal .... and beyond that who is on Bombers neg list that might be worth discussing.
  24. Anyone else think maybe Brett Jones is going to Sask? And that's one of the reasons Picard was expendable?
