Agree on the one weak link... I'd move Heath over asap and start Walker beside Randle. Of course, that also means we should have been able to exploit Joe Burnett, unless he magically got faster in the off-season. Setting the bar low so that you are happy with an 'alright' MLB is a recipe for disaster... Richie Hall needs an MLB with closing speed - Hurl doesn't have that

Messam was traded for a 6th round pick to the Als - where he was a backup... then he sat for a month after being cut - through all of TC - before being signed. You think of his 'multiple offers', he chose Sask so he could share starting duties with Anthony Allen... sure.

What I'm saying is that other teams have had continuity in scouting departments... starting first with Bauer cutting costs and then era of blowing up the staff annually, the bombers haven't had a scouting staff for years. Maybe its premature to expect Goveia and McManus to have a network through the scouts on par with Buono, Hufnagel, Jones, Murphy, Popp... Really wonder if Jim Barker would not be a good addition to this scouting staff - as long as he's not in charge of trades... ahem.

There really should be 2 NI on DL each play... the pressure will still be there and you don't have to start Hurl anymore. Good luck with the hooks and curls - that is Lapo's signature - what concerned me about this game was that bombers found success last year as Lapo and Hall changed their games - or at least evolved... Lapo used more intermediate passes, Hall used more man coverage and pressure.. Last night, I saw them both revert to their old self in the 2nd half... short hooks and soft zone D. Ugly.

Meh, I was not a Lankford fan when he was signed and nothing's changed... his CFL experience is being a average receiver/returner who fumbles all the time. Not sure why Oshea thought that would change. If anything, I'd give Thomas Mayo another shot - he's the best REC recruit we've had in the Walters era. -

Well Lankford at 6'0 175lbs isn't exactly the answer either then... Kind of bewildered at the Gerrard Sheppard cut - they were so high on him last season and he's pretty big -

6'4 210lb - wouldn't say he's skinny I'm not going to blame him for breaking off that route - just a mis-communication... I thought his game against Sask was good - give him a few more -
Because this team overvalues the underdog.

I'm just still traumatized by the months long debate we had about whether it was worth it to sign Messam or not... 'because he didn't play special teams'... its was a forum 'ugh' moment.

He was cut a long time ago...

Off the top rope!! Excellence of execution...!!

Straw dog if I ever saw one... the 'he can't get a job anywhere else' argument died back in the Jerome Messam debate... Besides, he was good enough to steal Johnny Adams job last year... I thought he played pretty well. Just saying, this 'flavour of the month' DB thing is getting old.

Whats baffling is how we end up with Lankford out of all the Sask receiver recruits... Our top scout was Sask's Dir of Player Personnel for the last six seasons... I'm not thrilled with that... but you'd think that he'd be able to find receiver talent - its the only thing Sask really ever seemed to have. Feel like we're stuck with Hurl because he's a Richie Hall project and now Craig Smith seems to have brought Lankford over... ugh. -
I'm talking about experience... Frederick was judged to be good enough last year that we cut Johnny Adams - then he can't even make the first round of cuts this year Lots of talk about continuity but then they can't stop fiddling around with the roster... like bringing in a ton of DBs every year but never being able to recruit an LB or REC
-
Desia Dunn... Deon Beasley... Fogg got lit up his first few games
-
Carmichael has to sit next game... Osh has never been able to show there are consequences for lapses like that - i.e. Kuale - let him work his way back into the game through special teams. Unless there was an injury or something, cutting Frederick is looking like a short-sighted move.
-
This team is definitely missing Bob Wylie.
-
Frustrating part is that we knew Macho Harris and Kuale were not starting material... just like we know Lankford and Hurl are not starters. But we'll have to sit through 3/4 of a season while they get chance after chance because there is no backup plan.
-
Garbage half-time adjustments were on the coaches... and Lapo/Oshea's 'playing not to lose' strategies are too. Dickenson threw a garbage challenge flag to save the game for his team... Osh passed on a 3rd and 2 gamble when there was still a window to win. This coaching staff is still too passive... that's concerning.
-
Lapo was back to his playcalling from 2011... predictable runs up the middle and slow developing passing plays that require YAC. Roc Carmichael has to be cut after this game, what more can he do to play himself off the team. Hurl is exactly the player we all knew he was... Labbe 2.0 - know what to do but he's always just a step or two behind...
-
Yeah, its crazy how Kavis took an aging but talented D and just re-made it into an aging and less talented D. Then 9 touches for Sutton and Ernest Jackson completely miscast... going to be battling Ticats for last place.
-
Very strange - I wonder if Thorpe has had to rework his strategies because of all these PI calls... not the Noel Thorpe defence I remember
