  1. Bad news - but I've never heard of this guy
  2. So you're like well DeMelo may or may not sign here so we shouldn't list him as a potential D... but Hamonic has family in Winnipeg so pencil him in!!
  3. Remind me how we have the luxury to leave Heinola with the Moose...? He showed well as a raw rookie and then went to Finland and stalled - the trend in the NHL is to move D ahead sooner than later... We can't install Samberg as our 2D unless you're suggesting re-signing Kulikov or Beaulieu...???

Weird how service is slower during a pandemic when the entire country is shutdown... I called CRA today and had my small business issue resolved within two hours.

As a small business owner of two corporations, you are completely full of it in terms of CERB... its already altered and rolled out faster than any govt program I've ever heard of So if your GF is a legit small business - $50K salary - you understand... if she sells one sewing machine a month, then she can go on EI like the rest of the country... either way its a win Scheer would have been paralyzed. No doubt - we'd be hearing platitudes and talking points and kissing ass to Trump

    Covid-19

Cases will rise exponentially because we are distributing tests... if you look at April 2019 - there were zero covid cases. We need to monitor deaths - across Canada, it looks exponential... but in BC and western Canada it is absolutely not Just sit back for a second and think to yourself why I'm being accused of being a heartless monster for suggesting we leave our houses by May... How many people will die alone in this next month while we hide from covid? How many people will live in abusive households? Or won't get diagnosed in time? One month is enough. And given that Yukon went into isolation two weeks ago - we should be emerging by Easter in a rational world.

    Covid-19

Well there's no actual argument to win... I can find my original post ha There you go... now that I read it again - nothing seems really controversial other than the Easter comment (which makes sense since in the Yukon we've been under lockdown for two weeks already... so I now see how its different in eastern Canada) So - as of right now - Coronavirus in Canada already looks flattened... lockdown seemed to work pretty quickly 1% of cases are critical and of those 1.7% have been fatal - deaths spiked around March 16-22 but then dropped back down and are not increasing exponentially It really seems like we do not have the population density for this virus to overwhelm our entire country Canada should be able to re-open by Easter if these numbers hold - but I doubt we will - panic has taken hold Again as of right now - JV5 seems to have a point about the flu v. covid - why don't we care that flu kills up to 650,000 people globally each year... is it just because its mostly in poor countries? https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/country/canada/

    Covid-19

I totally agree. But we also cannot shut down the world for six months and not expect a price to be paid - my cousin needs an emergency triple bypass this week and my other cousin lives with dementia in a care home - they and other cases should suffer while we shut down the world for covid? These are very small examples - but IF the percentages keep moving towards 2% infection and 1% death rate - we will be open by June. Also, flattening the curve is not six months... its two years if you really look at the data... My original post got lit up for 'downplaying' covid... but its actually reason for hope - if you REALLY look at the data right now - we should have a much higher death rate given that we are in the 'no response' timeline and not even the lockdown timeline. Canada is not going to get hit like Italy. This is a good thing - hide in your house until 2021 if you want, but we should be done by May.

There are absolute parallels. A sports forum focuses on the ideals of the best survive and the weak are eliminated. Now we are socialists... I always was - so that's fine - but its an interesting parallel.

    1) You are cherry picking my posts the same as you accuse me of doing... that's fine. My original post said the curve is flattening and for sure it is in Western Canada... Quebec snowbirds may be complicating that but Manitoba is not a hotbed of Covid either. 2) In a rational world, we could be coming out of lockdown by May or even Easter - I stand by that. May or Easter is not flip flopping. That is my opinion - in reality, we are out by June in Canada. Right or wrong. 3) Yes, of course you are fine with a two year lockdown - you get paid no matter what, many people don't. You won't lose your house or your job. Save me the personal sob story - I have mine too, my friend's dad is in a covid coma - and our personal stories should make zero difference for government policy.

Spare me the sanctimony. I'm 47 just not a drama queen. If you're not 65, you should be, you talk like you're 80.

    Covid-19

You said I was heartless for questioning why we are shutting down western civilization for a virus that primarily kills people over 65. I was just assuming you're over 65.

    Covid-19

I mean you guys do see the irony of a forum that consistently is like 'oh he's 29 years old and lost a step... buh bye' and then actually makes fun of guys who can't keep up or have long-term injuries... But now we're freaking out about anyone who questions shutting down society for a virus that targets specifically the old and the weak...

Awww... look now you're a socialist when it might affect you. Cute. And weak.

    Covid-19

Weren't you JUST arguing that Canada is not doing well...? Haha - I love this place some days. So random. Yeah, not sure what planet you think we are on... but we are not shutting down the economy for 12-18 months and if you do, you must have a govt job where you still get paid to sit on your couch. Canada will declare the curve flattened by June - we'll go back to work with some new plexiglass barriers, wearing masks and use more automated tellers - people will die of Covid but it will become just a part of life
